    Congratulations for building such amazing Amps with New technology… analog nanotube seems to have such an innovation taste for an ultra portable 100w amp, that can be really loud, if needed; or just at low volume. Amazing tones of the most beautiful sounding Amps out there, with the possibility to adjust the side controls., giving extra tones. Genius achievement! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Hello Thomas, first of all I would like to tell you that these videos are well made and bring every Amp 1 owner closer to the endless possibilities of the available sounds. As the new owner of an Amp 1 Mercury Edition (probably also many other owners of the Amp 1 ME) I would like the information about your selected settings for the corresponding sounds. At the beginning of the video you play a super clean sound in my opinion and at the end a lead sound exactly to my taste. Are you so nice and tell us the settings for volume, gain, master, bass, middle, treble and especially the settings for the custom controls?
    Thanks and Regards
    Joachim

    • @BluGuitar
      @BluGuitar  4 года назад +1

      I used the same EQ settings for the whole video: bass 8, mids 6 , treble 5 roughly
      These should match the speaker!!!!
      Clean was using the boost on! And clean volume about 6, clean tone all the way open
      The lead was either classic: gain full plus boost tone just a touch open - or modern ( usually no boost) tone 33% open

    • @BluGuitar
      @BluGuitar  Год назад +2

      Soldano lead tones can be easily achieved with AMP1 Mercury edition modern channel:
      Gain full: bass middle treble on 5.
      Iridium has a different character, so I tried to get there with Modern channel:
      Gain full, bass full, middle 5, treble 2 and modern Tone to max
      Another attempt with Classic channel:
      Gain full, bass full, middle 5, treble 3 and Classic tone middle
      And finally the vintage:
      Gain full, boost full, bass full middle 5, Treble 3
      Try them all and pick the one that comes closest for your guitar and style

    Hallo Thomas, Respekt, wie Du auch in englisch Deinen Enthisiasmus und Deine Expertise vermitteln kannst, und Dich dabei selbst nicht zu Ernst nimmst
    Schade, dass der Amp1 mitunter als Pedalboardamp/kein RICHTIGER Amp betrachtet wird, daher nennt man Dich heute NOCH nicht in einem Atemzug mit den Bogners und wie sie heissen, aber auch das wird sich irgendwann ändern! Ich bin seit Jahren bekennender Amp1 (mittlerweile Mercury) Nutzer und erzähle es jedem der es nicht hören will 😉. Interessanterweise lerne ich erst durch diese neue Videoreihe den Amp RICHTIG kennen. Ich muss beichten, dass ich parallel seit Jahren immer noch MEINEN hot rodded classic british tube Amp suche, und hab mich durch Friedmänner, Marshalls, Engls, Brunettis, Blackstars, Bugeras und Splawns gekämpft. Ohne den Sound in meinem Ohr zu finden (ok, der Bogner Helios Eclipse bei Musk Produktiv klang schon geil, aber den wollte ich mir nicht leisten). Am Ende bin ich mit dem Amp1 am meisten zufrieden, weil ich damit soviel abdecken kann, und zwar auf sehr hohem Niveau. Im handlichsten Format ever. Ab und an das Revival Drive Pedal dazu (best Pedal money can buy), und alles läuft. Eine Frage habe ich doch: Ich liebe 4x12, finde alte Greenbacks aber zu dunkel und zu undefiniert für gainigere Sounds und neue Greebacks viel zu sägig. Welche Speaker würdest Du alternaiv empfehlen? Ausser V30 😉 Ps. Den Iridium hab ich nach längerem Überlegen jetzt auch bestellt, weil das Metaltier in mir ab und an raus will 🤘🏼

      @BluGuitar  4 года назад

      Probiere mal G12 H 30 wenn Dir greenbacks zu dunkel klingen. Was die Originale in der Branche angeht , wird es noch eine Weile dauern bis das weltweit erkannt wird. Wenn man neues macht braucht das eben seine Zeit...;-)

    Hello I am looking for "the Dumble sound", which blu amp would be best?

    • @BluGuitar
      @BluGuitar  2 года назад +1

      Without any pedals I would say Mercury Edition for Leads, and maybe iridium edition for cleans…
      What do most people understand as a Dumble sound anyway? Simplifying it: A special rich clean tone with tons of headroom, and a lower mid focused overdrive that doesn’t sizzle. I believe a Mercury edition with „a bit extreme settings can do it”: Mastervolume up!!! For headroom-> 7-8
      Then clean Volume low like 3-5, for Robben Ford style Leads a mid boost (maybe EQ) as it needs to be lower in frequency (about 600hz) then eg a Tubescreamer (which is giving higher mids at about 800 hz) On vintage channel for maximum dynamics…

    From what I have seen or heard, I’m impressed with the Amp1. I’m a Strat/Marshall guy. Is the Nanotube just a “visual transistor”? From what I have read, it doesn’t really have the electronic or audio qualities of a vacuum tube. Maybe I’m wrong. Then, why not have one for the preamp portion of the Amp1 also like the valvestate type amps? I have learned a lot from your site. Thanks again.

    • @michaeltaylors2456
      @michaeltaylors2456 4 года назад

      Not an electronics expert but my Mercury edition will not make a sound until the nano tube “ warms up “ it has oodles of sweet dynamic tube qualities. Ideal pre amp tube like qualities are built into the all analog pre amp circuit , it is an analog emulation of a tube, and it works amazingly well. The sag and responsiveness of the Amp 1 is actually better than many high end tube amps. Some how it is fast, tight brutally articulate as you need it to be, yet sponge, sag , give in a very agreeable manner .

    • @martywiebelhaus7070
      @martywiebelhaus7070 4 года назад

      @@michaeltaylors2456 Thanks Mike. From what I have read, the Nanotube is in the power amp, not the preamp. Also as a class D power amp, the power is usually solid state. I don’t know enough about Nanotube technology to be an expert. I’m just doing research before I buy an Amp1. I am very interested in this product. I have been playing guitar for 57 years. I saw the Beatles live in 1966. I come from the old school era of Hendrix and Cream. I play in a cover band in the Detroit area. I like the idea of how light Amp1 is. I’m impressed with the sound Thomas gets out of it. My question is, if the nanotube is actually supplying “tube like” qualities, why not use one for the preamp also? But from what I have read, and I could be wrong, the Nanotube is not the source of power, it’s just a transistor replacement.

    • @michaeltaylors2456
      @michaeltaylors2456 4 года назад

      @@martywiebelhaus7070 , Power is from the class D, but modulated or corrected by the nanotube ? The preamp side is perfect. Not sure why have another tube when the exact effect of one is present in the analog circuitry, and you need not worry about replacing it. If you are wanting Cream , ala JTM 45 vibe, then you will definitely love an Amp 1. You may even consider the original version. It’s out there at a discount . However , it is Not able to get as overdriven, I was mistakenly sent one by Sweetwater, it’s great fantastic actually for getting into the JTM 45 era, but I was wanting to be able to get vintage Marshall and also into Boogie, Marshall JCM 800/ DSL , Diezel tonality, an equalizer in the loop and get any amp you want. I returned it it got the Mercury edition, which when in the vintage channel is ridiculously rich, corpulent and clear JTM/ Plexi . 2 pounds and stupid loud if you want it to be. You can’t miss.

      @martywiebelhaus7070 4 года назад

      I am glad you are happy with the sound you get. I just noticed the latest trend of the Nanotube being used in pedals and amps. I’m just wondering how the tube ACTUALLY affects the sound and feel of a guitar amp or pedal or is this just the latest marketing gimmick to sell to us “tube” freaks.I wish Thomas would pipe in on this question. I’m not trying to be critical, just a curious tone geek. 🎸

      @@martywiebelhaus7070 Hi Marty. First of all BluGuitar's Nanotube isn't the same as the 9V Battery subminiature tubes used in some pedals as a gimmick. BluGuitar's (and Thomas Blug's) standard regarding our products is continuing to develop and improve until we are at the level of the best tube amps available. The technology that we use is a tool to get the sound and dynamic behavior, and in case that a smaller technology can archive the same sound as a bigger one, it is preferable in our eyes. For AMP1 Thomas once decided that the Nanotube is the best option soundwise, despite it is quite large compared to the other components in Amp1. Without the tube, it isn't possible to get the same poweramp behavior. However in the preamp section we were able to accomplish the tonal quality of tube-preamps in solid state technology. So could we use tubes in the preamp? Sure, but why should we make our amp bigger and heavier to archive no tonal improvement? If we did that it would be - as you said - just a marketing gimmick.

    What is the cost to replace the Nanotube

      Priceless! Ha ha... it’s not needed as that Nanotube has a lifespan that will outlive you...;-) ...and it has auto bias, so the sound stays consistent.
      ...so far we had only to replace 1 where a female singer with hi heels 👠 smashed the tube window and the tube...

    Thomas, you’re a brilliant player……I have every intention of picking up your cd’s. And, trust me….I get it, when I say that I know when you lead guitar players are playing your guitar solo’s, you want the spotlight’s of the universe on your soul. And, you want that one string bend to sustain for days……and you want it to sound as big and thick as the sonic god’s will allow. However (and this is VERY important)…. *Shredding, and lead playing, does nothing…….ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to demonstrate the gain structure of an amp.* It’s very similar to when these kids take a $4K amp and sit there and “chug”, or “djent” while they beat on one string of a 7-string guitar. It’s one-dimensional, and tells you absolutely nothing about the amp, itself. But, I digress....
    I thoroughly appreciate the time, and work it takes to do these videos. And, the history of you, and how your got into amp building was very interesting. I don’t know of anyone that can say that they’re not only exceptional guitar players, but exceptional amp designers, as well. It also sounds like you have a new version coming out soon, as well. I'll probably just wait until that comes out? But, when it does a demo of the high gain amps displaying their 80's-esq, rhythm tones would be greatly appreciated.

      Okay 👍 I’m trying to do that a bit more…
      Not a natural thing for a “vintage guy” like myself…;-). But check out some of our episodes with guests like Alex Beyrodt, Manuel Kettenring, Manni Zewe, Eugen Valovirta… etc. They played superstrats and do that 80’s wall of sound with their AMP1.

      @@BluGuitar ...thank you brother! With the new version coming out, it may be a bit moot. But, yes, knowing that the unit can pull off the class rock riff-age. Don't need to spend a tone of time on it. I know guitar players LOVE hearing great players like yourself, play. I could listen to you play for hours. But, in terms of making a purchase, knowing the amp can pull that off well, is very important. With the -fascism- Covid restrictions starting to life, hopefully we'll see the new model hit the shelves this year. *Thank you for all you do for not just the industry, but for us guitar players!!!!!*
