I used to see these little house gnomes all the time when I was a child in San Jose, California, especially when my parents were not home at night and they left me to babysit when i was like 10 or 11. They were inside the house and there was more than one. But you could only see them in your peripheral vision. When you looked directly at them, they vanished.
Amazing story. I live in New Zealand also, and used to have constant dreams of a small old man in the bush. Hear laughter ect. We ended up getting formal protection from the council for our 5 acres of old growth forest. I 100% believe these other folk reach out however they can.
I’m so glad to hear this. I had an encounter during lockdown and was directed towards some local land which was equally under threat from developers. Very happy to hear you managed to save it
@@themodernfairysightingspod8421 do you think it's possible that fairy hills are places occupied by fae beings that may have originally been tumulus/tumuli (burial mounds) built by Bronze Age or even earlier cultures to put their chieftains, kings and royal kin to rest?
I answered my own question, looking it up (though it is an AI answer): "Are fairy hills tumulus burial mounds Based on the provided search results, there is a connection between fairy hills and tumuli. Here are some key findings: In Scottish folklore, small hills are believed to be the dwelling places of fairies, and these hills may be natural mounds or prehistoric burial tumuli (e.g., “It’s also very widely believed that one very common location for fairy dwellings is under small hills… These hills may be natural mounds or they may be prehistoric burial tumuli”). In British folklore, ancient burial mounds (tumuli) are sometimes recalled in folk memory as the fairies’ homes (e.g., “dwellings: under burial mounds… examples are to be found on Cley Hill in Wiltshire…”). The term “tumulus” is used to describe artificial hills of earth and stones built over the remains of the dead, and in some cases, these mounds may be associated with fairy folklore (e.g., “Wade and Wade in their 1929 book ‘Somerset’ described it as ‘a remarkably fine tumulus of masonry, said to have been one of the finest in Britain, in the chambers of which skeletons have been discovered’”). While there is no direct evidence that all fairy hills are tumulus burial mounds, the folklore and cultural associations suggest that some fairy hills may indeed be prehistoric burial mounds, and the terms “tumulus” and “fairy hill” are sometimes used interchangeably in a folkloric context. In conclusion, while not all fairy hills are necessarily tumulus burial mounds, there is a connection between the two in folklore and cultural tradition, and some fairy hills may indeed be prehistoric burial mounds."
Very interesting discussion. I decided at an early age that there was nothing to be frightened of in the dark or in graveyards and at age 12 used to wander far and wide in dark and still do. for me i was bullied by school classmates at boarding school - and just decided that i had never seen ghosts or monsters but i had seen horrible people. I decided that i would never be afraid of the dark or the outdoors spooky places as worse things are people. It’s happened in the same way suddenly for me and i have also tried introducing other people to the idea of not being afraid of the dark and for some its worked too. You see being out in nature in the total dark is so wonderful as you are able to see a lot and interact with the nighttime wildlife properly.
Further to my post about the white orbs and red orbs in Halifax, I've never seen a gnome but I did witness a red disc, like a large button with two eyeholes, that appeared in my Bradford flat around the same time. I watched it for 10 seconds or so before it faded away
I really enjoy Jo Hickey Halls broadcasts. First heard her talking to Paul Sinclair I think. I've witnessed large floating orbs in North Dean Woods, Halifax. The spaniel I was walking barked at the orbs and they retreated the way they had come. The orbs were beachball sized, silent and there were around 9 or 10. A year or two later I witnessed one solitary orb heading away from me, the dog saw it again and barked. Around the same period I was dog sitting within a building Clay House very near the same woods, a small cricket ball sized bright red orb came to the window, 3 times in a 30 minute period. It moved very quickly compared to the white orbs. I got the feeling all of the Orbs were intelligent.
Are gnomes and fairies worldwide or, it may sound daft but, could they emigrate too with the settlers? I had always been led to believe that gnomes and fairies were European only. Sorry to show m ignorance.
Yes they are everywhere 🙂 they are part of this world. We are so focused on the material that we have been socialised to shut down our awareness. I do believe it’s possible that they emigrated with settlers. Though I cannot say for sure. A few encounters lead me to consider this as a possibility but I have no idea how that would function.thanks!
I know where he's talking about and the spooky thing is that I was only talking about the lagoon near where I grew up to my brother a week ago and I still live on that lay line that is connected to this water way to the sea.. This is path we take after we pass and the cancer hospiss has been built beside the lagoon". This lagoon we never swum in as it never felt good. Look for patterns and if you do you will see the connection to lakes, lagoons all around the old world.... Gateway.
Sounds like a patupaiarehe.. little fairy folk who live in NZ bush...... ....look for the books Song of Waitaha and Whispers of Waitaha ..... in your library....or look up Waitaha ancient knowledge by Barry Brailsford.

Thank you 😊I’m so glad you found freedom from fear too 🙏🏻
Always a thrill to see another episode drop, and particularly exciting to hear a story from my neighbours in Aotearoa.
Oh great! I’m glad this episde found you 😊
Amazing story about his experience- so glad he decided to work through the fear.
Thanks Jo for another fascinating video x 🙏🏻🧚🏻♂️🧚🏻♀️
Glad you enjoyed it. Thank you.
Fascinating and a real human presenter - Thank You! A rare and precious thing like the subject of your channel.

Wow! Thank you. Can you relate it to life transitions at the time?
Im in New Zealand too, very happy to hear your story
Such an interesting one , Jo. Also freaky, scary but also nice to hear the guest conquered his fears.
Thank you! Yes I agree 😊
I think he's talking about Lake Pupuke in Takapuna. It's an old volcanic crater that turned into a lake
Excellent. His encounter could be ET. The description sounds as though it might be. ❤
Thanks Jo & Ricky, so much connecting info. Ive heard the full lenght episode but great to listen again and just love the intro music 😅
Thanks Gogs 🙂
great stuff as ever x

Scary!
though it seemed scary at the time there was a sense of aiding in the end! But yes, you can imagine how unsettling that would be.
Yayyyy!
