The real question is how many other players got banned using similar software while playing Destiny. They'd have to unban a whole swath of people if they look at Cruz 's incident.
if Bungie “takes another look”, then they should “take another look” at everyone banned in this way. no matter how long it takes. special treatment should not be given. and comparing steroids to software cheats is highly inappropriate.
Good riddance get that cheat out of here. Cruz is literally gaslighting his following about him using a memory editor which works for all games by the way. But we can neither confirm nor deny that he used it during his playtime on destiny but it was running while playing. Good on Bungie for sticking to their guns.
I can totally see where Cruz is coming from but that’s the choice he made by downloading it. Therefore it’s his consequence to bear. I’d still look over it and see what was going on. EDIT: I very much agree with what was said in the video with manually reviewing and interviewing and then deciding. If they STILL decide the ban is warranted, then absolutely the right move
@@greenlukesky4615 The real issue at hand is he was running cheat software while Destiny 2 was active on his PC. It's not a "modifier" for the games economy in his single player games, it is a cheat engine hands down. Classic example of F.A.F.O. and is attempting to use his "elevated status" in a community to dissuade Bungies decision. During Last Wish my clanmate made the same excuse and got banned for the same exact reason. There is nothing stopping Cruz from giving Papa Bungie more money and time to be raid ready for The Final Shape. Ask yourself this, if he is willing to cheat in an economy management game what else is he willing to cheat on?
@@displayunit4776 no I definitely agree with the decision but I’m not opposed to bungie looking over it. The same thing happened with Baken and then when they doubled down it was hilarious
The reality is, there is no way to take a second look. The software uses a memory inspector/poking. He says “I used this”, but so what if it can’t be proven? Memory editor programs are not application specific. There’s plenty of folks who don’t understand how the cheats actually work, and it’s ridiculous to roll it back for the one famous guy and open the door to everyone else with unverifiable claims that “oh no, that’s what I did too, unban me!”
Good insight. But isn’t there also the fact that his D2 account wasn’t altered? If it was I think Bungie should say so to clear up the controversy because it is a prominent community member. And I’m sure those other people have used it. But even if Bungie just explained it the way you did that would be more acceptable given the situation
@@TheDFlawless this is where it gets tricky: For a memory edit hack - you rely on altering something and letting normal game systems propagate the change you made. Easy example, you could edit how much glimmer you had, then it's just a matter of doing normal things and with a little luck you pick up some glimmer, it gets added to the local, the new total goes to the server, and now the game believes you're glimmer rich. If they've got enough database transaction logs, they theoretically could attempt an exhaustive search for this, but it relies entirely on the devs being able to think of everything that might be subject to that change: based on some of the dev insights articles, I'd expect that to be extremely labor intensive, and it's possible they'd just miss something. The other perilous part is, very rarely do you break into a system and immediately change things - you do surveillance first, see what's there, probably several times to make sure you've got your bases covered. Then, once you know enough about the system, you test your access and change something innocuous to test defenses, and ideally have identified a place that won't rely on you risking an attack vector that's easy to watch. Sure, it might be totally innocent, or it might be a virtualized system built specifically to do that looking and essentially be a burner device. There's a lot of just regular cybersecurity stuff that is the reason the TOS is in place, but it's also not necessarily transparent/obvious to folks who aren't familiar.
I want someone at Bungie to look at this, and come out an tell me that they are deciding what is and is not classified as "cheat" software and at ANY time... They could ban you even if they THINK it's questionable. I just want them to try that. One of these days it's going to be worse. It's gonna be mom and pops anti-virus that scans Destiny files and anti-cheat is gonna have a problem and then bungie is gonna say "it is" and someone is going to say "it isn't" then Bungie is gonna say "I don't care, it's my choice" it's all gonna get ugly.
havent dug much into this but what if cruz was dishonest? I know everyone got their pitchforks out right now for Bungie and the community really likes this guy but without the evidence for us to see how do we know? not discounting anything the guy has accomplished in the past but that shouldnt give him amnesty now if true imma be honest the story given that you explained sounds really weak, also this sucks timing wise, Bungie cant win lately
Cruz intentionally avoided explaining the full extent of what his cheats did. It edits memory which isn’t only currency. He could have altered his ammo count or abilities. Bungie will not look again after they bonked on Bakken. It sets a precedent that every single person that has a content creator friend gets a second chance. Seems like everyone hating on bungie for this is gonna look dumb once again if it fully comes to light
I agree Dude CHEATED and they are busting cheaters, Creators should know better than all others! They do not deserve special treatment just bc they create!!!! Dude, is a CHEATER! period. Glad they banned him! He deserved it. Cheaters have ruinded the game period.
It honestly doesn't matter if he's a 4x champion. This is a major problem for EVERY player who gets a false ban after paying hundreds of dollars & spending thousands of hours on a game. Period. This should be a class-action lawsuit against Bungie and any other developer abusing live service players in the same way.

Right this is the second mf in their clan, too

@humantargetjoe great insight
They can double check. Same thing they did for Bakken
He deserves the ban and if I was bungie I’d be looking into the rest of that clan
and of all people, you would think HE would have known better.

So… if even he did not cheat in D2, does it justify cheating in other games? Like not robbing the bank but you are the driver in the getaway car.
