Thank you so much for clarifying this, I did wire mine backwards without knowing it, and had it towed to a shop because it wouldn't start. They told me I wired the new connector incorrectly, so I told them to go ahead and fix it, but I was still a bit suspicious. Now I'm glad I trusted the shop and let them fix it because this video proved that they were telling the truth. Thank you again !!!

Why wasn't this document in with the instructions for my fuel pump? Delphi left me hanging and I am so thankful you posted this vital info. The diagram worked perfectly on my 1999 Isuzu Rodeo 3.2L. And thank you for highlighting it was a rear view on the connector diagrams!
Man this was a life saver! The booklet that came with my new pump had it all ass backwards!

It would be nice if there was a plug and play connector solution for this issue as an additional part that could be purchased based on the vehicles wiring which it seems it can be one of four different types.
I just bought a Delphi authorized oem and it has to be rewired - $250.00 THAT is ridiculous. This should be plug and play PERIOD. Just make them like the old ones. There was nothing wrong with the original it lasted 21 YEARS.

The old plug has lettering! The new one doesn’t! How do we determine the wire?
It would’ve been a lot better if that new harness had a square female plug on the other end so you could just plug the original plug into the new harness

I have a question why after installing the fuel pump the fuel gauge won’t work ? Did I wire the pigtails wrong or the float came off ?

Got new pump new wire harness comes with it four wires black, grey, purple, and black w/whit stripe. Truck wire has black, grey, purple, and orange w/black stripe. This is on a 2002 Tahoe 5.3 ltr. What goes to what lost the directions

How sad is that. I ordered the fuel pump from you guys and the pump was loose in the box just banging around and no instructions. It comes with a new plug with crimp connectors, but No wiring diagram. I contacted customer service 3 times. No one offered me instructions. The third person, Victor, searched around and found a basic diagram showing the plug to plug diagram. A plug to plug adapter would be ideal. Just saying...

Curious though, but where does the other end of the pigtail connect to? Somewhere in the cab?
I have a 1998 Monte Carlo 3.1'
I replaced the fuel pump. PER YOUR INSTRUCTIONS which I followed it did NOT work.
Looking from the back as the Square connection also it is marked/labled a,b,c,and d on it.
I changed the wires around and did NOT go the way you said a to a, b to b, etc.
I changed the wires and went by the color of the wires, Purple to purple, black to black, white stripe to stripe grey to grey and it worked.
I urge people to do like I did. Before you install everything just connect the pump and change wirs as needed to find which way actually works then disconnect hem if needed to re-route your wiring harness when you do you actually install of it.
It is very easy to connect your pump before installing into your tank to check the wiring first so you know it is right.
I have a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 4.8L and I've replaced my instrument cluster and my fuel pump. My gas gauge still does not work properly. I did buy OEM part. I am just lost now. It's driving me crazy because winter is just around the corner and I need my truck.
I have exact OPPOSITE problem. All the fuel pumps I get have the square receiver but my 2002 gmc yukon xl 5.3 flex fuel harness is the flat pins. On top of that I can't find the square harness (not even on your site). Ideas?

I put a new fuel pump in and spliced the wires. But now after having a diagnostic test done they told me I have an electrical issue coming from the pump. Not sure if I have to undo everything or how to go about testing it without taking it all apart. Help pls

I just found out the hard way that I should’ve heatsrunk mine. after a couple years one of the wires corroded and broke off. Left me stranded

Z I replaced the fuel pump but the harness did not clip in the same way so I adapted to make a new clip work

I have a 1993 Cadillac Seville fuel pump went out it has a five prong connector on it the new fuel pump has a four prong connector can I change the five prong connector to the four prong connector
I have one pump that works correctly. But one pin in the in casa connector is melted. I habe not been able to find only the connector to avoid having to change the whole fuel pump. Do you know if they exist? Even if I have to change the connector and the harness. Thank!
Why can't you just wire the old square connector to the new pump?
I have a chrysler 200 with this same issue. Either the previous owner put the wrong pump in or the design changed.. I have the new connector but Im unsure how to wire it into the harness as it didnt have instructions for a chrysler. The connector currently in the car is a square connector with offset pins (pin) would it be wired the same as the chevrolet?
I installed a new fuel pump and I had to update the wire harnes. Car starts every time but now it idles high around 2000 rpm when before the new pump it was around 700 rpm. Any suggestions, did I do something wrong?

What do I do if my 2000 Chevy Express 3500 5.7L V8 doesn't have a wiring harness that leads to the fuel tank pressure sensor. There's only one wiring harness that leads to the fuel pump, for the module I had an error code for a fuel tank pressure sensor, which I started receiving lower acceleration, poor fuel economy, and sometimes stalling. The fuel pump seems to be after market, and does not have a fuel tank pressure sensor attached to it, but has a socket for it. However there is no wiring harness to be attached to the fuel tank pressure sensor. Any thoughts?

I got a new pump and I had it connected color coded and it wont start, so do you meant not to follow the color codes? And just follow ABCD?
Helped me know they missed giving any instructions in the box. Lol

I’ve purchased many parts before from 1aauto and have always been happy with them until I bought a fuel pump for a blazer that didn’t come with instructions I called and asked if they can send them and they said there is a video on the confirmation witch was the wrong video so I called back and they said there is nothing they can do so now I no longer buy from them

Yes I was wondering I just got a new fuel pump for my 96 Chrysler Concorde and the original pump that was in the car had a I think has your return valve for the fuel but the new one that I bought from RockAuto it seems to be the same style but there's no fuel return valve is there any way I could still use that or do I need a new fuel pump
+David Spade Since there could be multiple reasons why you’re experiencing this difficulty with your vehicle, I strongly recommend that you have a reputable mechanic inspect it. They’ll be able to troubleshoot the problem and tell you what part or parts you’ll need for the repair.

I wired up my new fuel pump that I bout from u guys my fuel pump no power and people need to pay attention to the different gauges on the black wires. Don’t mix them up like I did.
I have a 97' GMC sonoma. When i tried to put in a new pump i ran into one problem. Along with the square connector here theres another connector with three more wires on it. The new pump doesnt have anywhere to put them though so where do they go?
Nevermind. I figured out that the other piece with three wires doesnt come with the assembly. You have to take it off the old pump and put it on the new one

I had my fuel pump replaced but now it's like when I turn the key on it doesn't make the priming noise. There people who changed it for me said they had to rewire it due to the new way of connecting. I got in at this morning and I didn't think it was ever going to start and I even pump the gas pedal and it was still like it wasn't getting any gas it's like once it starts for the first time of the day it's okay but the first time of starting it for the day is Hell. Did they rewire it wrong?
Check your fuel pressure regulator. If it starts then they didn't wire it wrong. It could be another issue.
Also it helps people to help you when you mention a make/model/year.

Thanks to the aftermarket for inventing a universal plug, that fits nothing. The spanner nut holding the assy into my 2003 Buick Century, has 2 metal prongs sticking right up in frt of the "new" plug. So not only do I have-ta hack up my wiring, I need-ta chop off the 2 prongs. Great engineering feat. I'm sure the plug fits "something". Just not anything we own. I bought an AC/Delco original unit, bolts right in. 'Cept the access hole is too small, and removing the spanner nut W/O the special tool is about as pleasurable as slamming my fingers in a door.

My fuel pump isn't making any sound can I use the older version of square harness fuel pump I got from GMC jimmy to my Chevy blazer and just cut off the wires and use the fuel pump from jimmy vehicle to my blazer ?

I unhooked fuel lines can't remember how they go back on 4.3 throttle body s10 4x4 5 speed the line from inline filter were does it go on the pump it has 3 lines on top of tank
One is the fuel line, one is the return, and one is the vapor line. The lines are usually different diameters. The fuel line is usually larger in diameter than the return line, and the vapor line usually connects in the middle of the two on the top of the fuel pump assembly.
So you can just do away with the square connector?
And just use the flat connector

I unhooked fuel lines from gas tank and fuel pump on a 2007 impala dont know where fuel lines go
Usually the diameters of the lines are different, which means the nipples they snap on to correspond to them.
mine is a 05 silverado and has the new connector already from factory and have put a new pump with it,now the problem is that the gauge does nothing it mark empty do I cut the plug and put the one that come with the new pump?

Alright this is the biggest problem that I have seen on forms and other videos can you show which goes wires are A B C D . On the pump I have the connector has the left is A and the end is D so is is your instructions you have accurate my pump did not come with instructions

I have the same problem no instructions on my new fuel pump I wire the pigtails as ABCD and my car starts good but my fuel gauge doesn’t work not sure if I forgot to install the fuel sensor or the float came off when installing
