Good morning everyone. Welcome back to the channel. This is 45 Degrees Sailing. My name is Nick. Today we are here at Marina Palmižama on the Pakleni Islands, just off the island of Hvar in Croatia. Now this marina is a brilliant jumping off point if you want to go to Hvar for the night, put the boat somewhere safe, ACI Marina has got a number of piers and the outer pier for large boats. You can come in and have safe haven in basically any weather. I've been here in 40 knot buras and it's been good. And large from northwest southeast is safe as well. So it is a very very good stronghold for the weather. The marina has a number of facilities such as toilets and showers. Large shower blocks here, with a good number of facilities. Though it does get very crowded when the marina is full. Of course as all marinas do. It's a short walk from here over to Vinogradisce. The bay that has a number of restaurants in it and mooring balls. So either which way you go if you stay in Vinogradisce or if you stay in ACI Palmižama, you can walk between the two and catch the water taxis from Palmižama marina here, over to Hvar. Into the base of the restaurant here there are two shops that you can buy produce from and supplies. They are not big shops but they do have a fair bit of alcohol and some fresh vegetables, milk, things like that. There's also a cafe here close by the marina and two restaurants that you can dine at. And of course then there's four or five restaurants on the other side of that short walk. We're here at the moment on the 27th of June. We picked a very perfect night to be in Marina Palmižama, as there were no flotillas here. It was only about 50% full. But, be aware this is a place that does get very busy. It is also very expensive to stay here. This is one of the most expensive of the ACI marinas so for context on the 27th of June in 2023 we paid 192 euros for a 55 foot yacht for the night. That includes your power and your water and the facilities of course and that is one of the highest prices you'll pay around this area. So it's a great spot. It's good to be able to have your boat here nice and safe and you can reserve a place. Just be aware that it will be expensive. They have upgraded all of the lines here today. So when we're here today the lines are brand new and it was very very nice to pick up new lines as we came in. So they are maintaining the place very well. There is good water pressure and they do not have restrictions. As of 2023 they don't have restrictions on water here because they are piped to the mainland with the water. So just be aware if you do come here with a family or if you're in for a quiet night it could be the opposite if you're in the middle of the season. A lot of flotillas come and they're here to jump off to go to Hvar to party and there can be a lot of that action going on in the marina. Sometimes until late hours in the morning. So I hope that was really helpful if you have any questions about the marina throw them in the comments below and we'll get to them. Otherwise we'll see you on the water [Music]

This is very helpful.
Thanks Wazza.
Informative video. Enjoy the Marina reviews. I stayed on that island but had to grab mooring ball, Marina was full in August. As you said, then headed to Hvar. Loved it.
Thanks mate. Yes August is always crazy.
Will be there tomorrow!!! Sooooo looking forward to it.
Great! Let us know how it goes!
@@45DegreesSailing Raining like a mofo!!! Thunder lighting peacocks crying...
Glad we added a second night to our reservation.!😀
@@mikegibson8867 Haha BRILLIANT! I love this weather. I know its not ideal for others but I get so sick of the sun and the heat 🤣
Great video, Sir!
Hvala Ted. Thanks for watching!
Great video !!let us know please all these marinas you describe what is the max length and draft that can berth !
Thanks!
Thanks for your support. Much appreciated
Hi Nick I just spent two nights there the 23rd and 24th. Great Marina. Sorry I missed you. We are now at Vrboska.
Great to hear! We love Vrboska, I hope you got to eat at Trica Gardelin! Its our favourite :)
Will likely be back in the Pakleni's tomorrow night. Hanging out at Komiža right now. How is the wind in Vrboska?
@@45DegreesSailing Thanks Nick, we will eat at Trica Gardelin tonight. We had dinner at Toto's the other night on your recommenation, very nice thank you. We spent our first night, Wednesday last week in Komiza after our trip across from Pescara Italy. Komiza has some amazing seafood restaurants. Regards Philip
Great video, I have never been there, Must be interesting. How is it going, how's the kid?😊
Nice place. At the right time ;)
Rau is great! Missing her a lot while we are away.
It sure is expensive. 96 for my 32 per night in May. However we were well protected from a strong SE'ly. Try the laundry, it only costs 22 for a washing machine and 15 for a drier 😮
22 and 15… EURO!?!? Faaaaar out
Perhaps the girl in the reception registered my surprise at the prices after I mentioned we feed the machines with about 5 euros up north in Aprilia Marittima (home berth). 5 or 6 in Marina di Brindisi and down in Preveza recently. BR
We stopped there around noon one day in 2016 and the marina guys on the pier asked for the boat papers quite aggressively, even though we asked to stay for 30min to get water in the tanks. It took us 2h to chase our documents back and ended up paying 50EUR. Absolutely ridiculous! On the opposite experience, we stopped in Stari Grad around 11am, for a short stroll and late breakfast, we were told we can stay for free for couple of hours before boats were coming in with reservations. Maybe this has changed since then?
Well one is a commercial privately-owned marina chain in THE most popular area on the Dalmatian Coast. The other is a government-run town pier. I think that ACI Palmižana has better staff these days than it had back in 2016, but you will generally always get a more relaxed approach from the guys at the various Lučka Uprava around Dalmatia. Unless it’s one of those days when there is a storm forecast and no one wants to leave… Then it’s much harder to squeeze in for a water fill up and a leisurely breakfast!
ty
Welcome
Picking up Jasmine Hanse 588 from Trogir on 8th July. Would you recommend booking our moorings in advance? Last time I sailed here was on Vidar Hanse 575 at the beginning of June 2018 and didn’t need to book anything in advance. It’s so difficult to decide where to go when you only have a week to do it in 😅
Great! I sailed past her on Saturday leaving Trogir! Nice yacht. We often take a 588. Love that model.
Well that is why we offer our Itinerary Planning service when you charter through us! Yes I would suggest booking what moorings/berths you can in advance. It’s getting busy out here.
I tend to avoid this place. Last time I was here with my family was in 2009. We paid 1200 kuna (160€) for a 36 foot boat. The marina back then didn't have power or fresh water or toilet facilities and shops. It was literally a big money pit in the middle of nowhere and you still have to pay the crazy prices of water taxis to get to Hvar.
One time my father and aunt were in the port of Hvar and their anchor slipped in 2 o'clock in the morning. They docked in palmižana for a total of four hours(they left by 6 AM) and still had to pay the 1200 kuna docking fee. There wasn't even someone on the dock ti lift them a mooring...
At least they offer the basic amenities now.
How is the docking / manouvering with 55ft boat in there? It seems rather tight everywhere!
Its tight for sure, sometimes you just have to wait for the outer yachts to leave first. I wouldn't usually park that far down that pier with this yacht, but the swell was hitting the other areas and marina was only 50% full. So it worked out good. Its ok to manoeuvre in there as long as the wind isnt too strong.
@@45DegreesSailing i checked your shortie video from drone and there is no way that the mid boat oposite the catmaran can get out!😅😅. I have booked with Kufner 54ft boje in Vinogradisce instead. Its 60 EUR ("only") and less risk for me with 54ft for the 1st time. I have chickened out😅
@@re5pekt100 haha. You mean the one with the grey tops and the sundeck cushions on the bow? That’s the Hanse 548 that we are on.
No way? Wait for tomorrows video… 😉
@@re5pekt100 and yes Vinogradišće is a great option for this as long as there is not a swell getting into the bay (SE). It’s not chickening out! It’s being conservative and realistic!
@@45DegreesSailing yes, thats the one I am talking about, haha, well, good luck then😅😅. I would very much appretiate instruction video from taking off from that spot mate. That would be awesome!!!
Did you go and see your connections there?
Never miss a connection.
Except this time... I didnt see anyone!
😬
Hello Nick, in this video someone jumps from the cliffs/rocks. Can you say me where this is? Best wishes
Hi there. At what time in the video is it? I will check for you :)
Hi Nick, between 0.20 and 0.30 seconds :-)
Best wishes from Munich@@45DegreesSailing
@@christianvongraeve aha! Yes in our intro sequence. That is me jumping the the ‘Zelena Špilja’ the green cave, south side of Vis Island.
@@45DegreesSailing thank you very much. I’m starting a one week trip in June from Trogir and searching for some special acts …
@@christianvongraeve well if you know you know! And remember we do have out Itinerary Planning service if you want all the inside info ;)
Next time charter through us!
while I understand the croatians wanting to get a good living out of their facilities it comes to a point of a sheer rip-off. 200 bucks is the price of a very nice hotel in croatia (and many other places) with a dry warm bed and breakfast.
Yes it is getting crazy. Though ACI is a large company and not just Croatian owned. The government run Lučka Uprava, Town Riva's, are much better priced (and still quite expensive).
