this looks like a nice application that goes a bit beyond pitch + formant and lets you use your voice as an instrument. i do like the boxed/productized approach because what is a vst without some great presets, but really what i and probably not all that many people have wanted for a long time is a well executed pitch to midi engine/controller. access to the detected parameters (note/velo/filter at minimum), active detection of thresholds and range max/mins, and advanced ways to shape/mutate/transform the output (scale detection/imposition, key change/transpose recognition, intelligent chord variation).
the predictive/ai version that leads me where i didn't know i wanted to go doesn't have to be 1.0. but something that i can connect to any vsti and use my voice to play using the same standard events that come out of a keyboard. this pitch to midi controller is the thing that bypasses all of the technique training and connects your imagination directly to the musical output. that's the theory anyway. has this been done and just wasn't that cool?

if you do any type of electronic music this is a must... if you only buy one plugin this year make it Ovox... i've had mine 3yrs and i've never run out of new ways to apply it... some of the tricks mentioned here are great but there's some other things i won't say here that can be the secret sauce you've been looking for... this plugin can give you an edge... it even does simple stuff like sub-bass enhancer... if you're still reading this what are you waiting for? just buy it.

i would like to use it as midi pitch target but is there a function to not have any audio play UNLESS i hit the keyboard? Vocal manipulator has a function called Midi gate that does this but i can't seem to find a way to do it in Ovox
It’s a great plugin, I’ve had it for 3 years. However there are artifacts, crackling that happen that seem impossible to prevent no matter how high my buffer is set.
That formant filter is giving me some serious "California Love" vibes... 🤔

I really dont't know what the hell I'm doing, but can we use the plugin on Protools? Because I can't purchase the plugin from Avid marketplace.
I'm Having trouble using the amplitude to control parameters. I can pull the amplitude onto a knob, but I'm not seeing the small yellow arc on there that shows the depth of modulation, I only see the letters AM at the bottom left of the knob and there doesn't seem to be any amplitude modulation going on.

Hey waves, I’m using a 2016 MacBook Pro and this plug in uses an insane amount of cpu, I can’t even sing into it without my computer glitching. Any tips on how to reduce that?
Hi @Larry Archer, please keep in mind that some plugins might be more CPU intensive than others. That said, we recommend trying to load OVox on a completely clean session with no other plugins loaded and checking if the issue persists. I used the money that I could have spent on Ovox on self confidence classes now I feel good about my voice and don't feel I need to hide it behind some digital filter.

I'm not 100% sure if this is what you need, but I'll give it a shot. If you want to stay in a particular note and scale, there is a small lock symbol inside a circle around the notes selection area. You can select your scale and note and lock it and then when you go to the different presets it will stay as you said it.

Hi Waves , i just bought this VST because of the talkbox preset on 0:32 , i matched his settings but i sill can't get the same vocal resynth effect , help please ( i'm playing midi notes and it doesn't sound legato and natural like Andrew does it )

there's like a small gear button that says 'Settings' in the middle of the plugin, at the top left from the circle that says Ovox, click on it and set portamento to 'legato', might get you this effect

I'm looking at GM Mr Talkbox Junior trying to figure out if I want to drop 130USD on something that I can't sing into, but actually is a real sampled talkbox OR do I want to be able to sing into it. To me, it still doesn't quite get there, but sounds cool. Hows your experience going with this? Getting any Jodeci type sound?
@@Charift Bro just kept listening and when he runs that low pass filter/waveform at 1:14 it sounds less harsh and closer to the sound (might also help to run a phaser and the chorus too to taste)

Can you sing and play chords live? I’ve only gotten it to affect already recorded audio and midi...

My Ovox plugin currently doesn’t work with Logic Pro X. It opens half of the bigger window. It glitches
Oh man....don't say that. I use Logic, and I was planning on getting OVox this week.
dadzilla well it was great when it did work. However since the update it has messed itself up and I contacted waves and they said “oh it’s because Ovox doesn’t support the newest logic update” like what bullshit is that!?

I dont see why not as long as it has MIDI Capabilities.
Can you create midi chords from vocals?
If you click the synth word button, you can set midi out and also hit edit and get into the note mapper where you can set up cords that will be triggered.

Is this cpu intensive??
Not as much as I would have expected it to be. I can load more than a few instances of it and run smoothly on my 3 yo pc.
To sum it all up if you want the best vox plugin new kid on the block you gotta pay the price for it lol or wait until its cheaper and everyone else has had their fun with playing with the new on the block lol or be luck n win it threw a free give away lol

I'll share this what I do is get the demos of each plugin i may or may not want to buy n test them out then make a decision is it worth the price or should i just wait for the price drop like around black Friday or wait for a 2 for 1 deal waves has 40 off and a buy one get 1 deal as of yesterday I wanted so badly to buy this I didn't tho because I have a different plugin I have demo of it I enjoy it n its much much cheaper if this was under 15 I would buy it lol it's not tho lol so I will be buying the other plugin basically lol

I'm still on the fence about buying this I found a few to compare it to for a cheaper price I won't give any names tho of the other plugins that are cheaper n do almost the same thing this plugin I have find out not to put all what I know out in public some plugin companies take it very personal about things like that still I have bought plugins from waves n waves do have grate deals my budget is just a little more cheaper then waves plugins I will say the waves plugins I own are worth the money I paid for them and the waves plugins demos I have used are grate still tho If I can get something cheaper n do almost the same thing I'm good so I may buy this in the future if it gets to the price I am about to buy a different cheaper plugin that can do basically almost the same things this can do this the new plugin vox kid on the block so it is what it is basically 👍🏾 I want it tho I'll get it later on lol 🙏🏾👍🏾🙏🏾

Hi Andrew, nice vid... Hi there, I bought OVox, but can't seem to get it to send Pitch Bend data, instead of one note with pitch bend it is sending +10 separate little notes... I've written to Waves in hope they'll clarify whether it is actually possible, but since it has Portamento, Follow Pitch and Bend Range... you'd think that's exactly what it can do! This plugin was a dumpster fire for me... Cubase 10 on Windows 10, I run hundreds of other plugins no prob, Waves ended up refunding me as it had some serious bugs and glitches.
Yikes! I’m running on Cubase 10.5... haven’t tried it yet, but bought it the other day. Do you know what specs you’re running?
