Wolf Lake was a jewel. Beautifully filmed, tense and atmospheric, with a stellar cast! Natch, it was cancelled after 9 episodes. I mourn its passing. Great sound track, too!
Thanks for posting this up here. It's interesting to see the changes between the two, I loved the original show and was mad it got canceled, and I really DO think that this would have made it as a series now since there are like seven american shows currently (if you count netflix) with werewolves in them. If you add BBC Being Human and Wolfblood then you have nine. It just was in time where paranormal stuff was running down (Buffy was in its final seasons) and before that post twilight boon made wolves and vamps super hot commodities.
I wish they had a petition of something to bring this show back. Me and all of my siblings used to watch this every Wednesday. Sucks they take off all the good shows. At this rate I wouldn't care if they had to bring it back with some what of a new cast. As long as the story line was still good. I mean lets face it. Most of the good shows you look up and someone you got used to was replaced with someone totally new. Same name different faces. Anyways, if it does come back some one please give me a holler.
I think if this show was on television now it would do great. I loved it and was sad that they only made a couple seasons. This show is way better than Teen Wolf(which stinks by the way.)
Hope they make another continue on love c what happens with two packs love this show great story line i think alot of shows r good just we dont get a chance to c them till its too late
This isn't just an unaired pilot, it's a completely different show. Different plotlines, different characters, different names, different backgrounds, different sets...I mean how did they make that big of a leap? I love this show so so much but I'm very happy they chose the other storyline instead, much more interesting and unique. So sad this show didn't make it, it was certainly one of the good ones :(
+Brie WB I didn't realise that. I think I'll start again from episode one then. I know some pilots have different actors to the commissioned show, Willow from Buffy springs to mind, but I would assume it's rare to change everything about the show?
I think so too. I love the Romeo and Juliette vibe from Sophia and Luke. The opening sequence. And how the characters feel more realistic. I like the series and wished it lasted longer too, but I was never ok with how cartoonish some characters were portrayed. It destroyed the heavy atmosphere, this unaired pilot managed to provide.
This is totally different than it was when it eventually became a series. There’s characters in this episode that don’t exist in the series, and actors that are in the series are playing different characters with different relationships to other people. There’s not even a Ruby that brings LDP to Wolf Lake. And the girl that was killed at the beginning doesn’t exist at all. Neither does the Sheriff’s sister in law, niece or brother in law. And his wife never came back. Plus, he’s not clueless about the wolves like he is in this one. It’s hard to say if this would have made a better series than the one we got. The timing of the release of the show was hampered by the attacks of 9/11, and led to its cancellation.
Unaired pilot was great. If they had stayed with this original concept and developed it, this would have been successful. They tried to soften it to make it more commercial. Unfortunate. I was a fan.
she has an uncle on her mom's side. because her mom is human. this pilot is nothing like the story they went with. This story probably got really bad reviews so they switched it up and got something way better than this battle of the clans crap.
I would have loved t have seen them develop this fully AND continue with the storyline they ended up using - with different actors but this would have made an interesting series, too. Seems like about half the monster type series only make it a season or two. I'd take the worst monsters and cheese over reality TV any day, but obviously I'm a lone wolf.
I liked the way they ended up going. But I love this one better! He's smarter, and it would have been darker. These remind me of therians alot too. Acting like wolves in a human body.
One thing that probably didn't help the show was the show was originally supposed to premiere September 12, 2001. But with the terrorist attacks that hit the country the day befor, and wall to wall coverage for the week following. It ended up getting pushed back a week. And probably most people were sticking to the news channels fearing they might miss something.
There were way too many characters in this one. They jam packed so much into this one pilot episode. I'm glad they cut out a lot of the characters in the actual show. I also didn't like some of the acting, in particular, the dead girl's brother confronting Luke was bad acting to me. And the funeral scene with the whole "We need you to lead" "I didn't ask for this" had some cheesy acting. There was just too much going on in this version. I did like that this one was actually scary. The wolves were terrifying and they actually showed the wolves mauling people, the actual series was tame and not gory at all. Bummer it got cancelled. I guess it was ahead of its time.
Woah. The series certainly took a complete 180. To be honest I don't like this version at all. Too much revealed too quickly as well. So upset this show ended on a major cliffhanger.
right?! I watched this hoping for some small insight on what was to become. I think we should demand a finished script or a novel or something, maybe a comic? something to fill in this gapping hole that the series left in our souls!!!!
In Montana they allow each hunter to shoot 10 wolves and if you also have a trapping license . Those people can kill 20 wolves each .Wiping out packs .Totally disgusting . It's back to whipping them all out .Why bother reintroducing them .To then just wipe them all out again .
Strange that the pilot had a different storyline to the TV show. Usually the pilot is a lead in to the show. The storyline of the TV show was much better and more mysterious. Can't understand why they scrap good TV shows and keep others which are not as good. They should have had more faith in the show. Even with just nine episodes it still seems to have a cult following.
It's actually incredible how much better this is than what we got.
Wolf Lake was a jewel. Beautifully filmed, tense and atmospheric, with a stellar cast! Natch, it was cancelled after 9 episodes. I mourn its passing. Great sound track, too!
It opposed the USA supremacy mindset.
@@a.m.pietroschek1972 Why?

Wow this story line is so much better I would of loved to seen what happened between the two packs
Thanx for posting...I agree this storyline was MUCH better...
I wish they'd gone with this story-line instead! I think it's so much better! Thank you for posting this ^w^

Cause people like it.
I just realized, that I have never seen this before.. so a double thank you 😊
mary elizabeth winstead here is still young...gorgeous
They showed the whole short series in the U.K. at a weekday late night in early 2002.
Who else wants this show to be remade
yeah there is a story here , and mistery and legend
I think if this show was on television now it would do great. I loved it and was sad that they only made a couple seasons. This show is way better than Teen Wolf(which stinks by the way.)
Couple season ? You mean there are more than one season ? I only got watch 1 season
There was only one season nine episodes and it was finished.
Unfortunately
it would have been so much better had it continued on this arc. thanks for posting.
Hope they make another continue on love c what happens with two packs love this show great story line i think alot of shows r good just we dont get a chance to c them till its too late

Brie WB Hi. I'm watching this for the first time and I liked the storyline from the unaired pilot a lot better. They should have gone with that one.
It is interesting how different this pilot is compared to the series plot line. Either way it is a shame neither got much of a chance.

I liked the show but I’d have liked it more if they stuck to something more like this
How come I never heard of this show before. I love werewolf shows. Was this based of a book?
Nope. I wish it was . Definatley ahead of its time. It was on tv in early 2000s.
I prefer this
this would have been a much better storyline from what i can tell, being on Ep. 2 of the aired season.
Oh now I remember in episode 7 Sophie told Luke that her dad had a sister...I think
she has an uncle on her mom's side. because her mom is human. this pilot is nothing like the story they went with. This story probably got really bad reviews so they switched it up and got something way better than this battle of the clans crap.
How do I download all these episodes?

Was there an episode 19? good series. Thanks.
I liked the way they ended up going. But I love this one better! He's smarter, and it would have been darker. These remind me of therians alot too. Acting like wolves in a human body.
What’s the ending?
Cette série est chaude !vraiment cute .on peut avoir saison 2 mais en français. S'il vous plaît.
WOLF LAKE IS GREAT SOAP OPERA .
One thing that probably didn't help the show was the show was originally supposed to premiere September 12, 2001. Never considered that but your probably right as the only tv series that did well that year were ones with previous seasons.
The only new show that survived was probably 24.

Spotify - Josh Swish
where is season2???? why make a series if they weren't going to finish.
It was cancelled, so yeah no season 2 my dearest viewer
My question is, how come it was unaired? And we have it now as well...
they only made 9 episodes? 10 counting the pilot
Rolling Thunder Productions/Big Ticket Television/CBS Productions (2001)
This is an interesting pilot movie. But very different from what we got.’
Woah. The series certainly took a complete 180. To be honest I don't like this version at all. Too much revealed too quickly as well. So upset this show ended on a major cliffhanger.

john shape shifts ..become alpha...make babies with apha female..get rid of the bad dudes...new clan...harmony...the end...Obvious. good night
Hannah Strom I don't like it either...but before this it was such a good show.
@@nathanwwolf7843 I hate you now
that sucks. what happened to the rest of the story
this show could have been a lot better with a good directer and a writer

call jim sokolove then
what a mess!!!! most of the "wolves" are dogs. smh...
Huskies
Skin Walkers?????? These not Skin Walkers of Native folklore, but were wolves played by a lot of bad acting actors and Luke is the worst.
A different narrative could be appreciated you know. Just say, 'you tried,' that's all
French please
