As an American, I'll have to admit I'm envious.
What China has achieved under the CCP is nothing short of miraculous. While I personally prefer a Democratic system, it would be illogical and irrational for me to deny the incredible progress China has made in such a short period of time. One of the hallmarks of Democracy is the freedom of speech and the political maturity to agree to disagree, which sadly, no longer exists in America. News coverage of China in America is limited to repetitive ideological talking points and often, outright demonization of China. I sincerely hope America's understanding and coverage of China will be less ideological and more balanced going forward. When the United States abandons the truth, we rot from the inside and pay the biggest price, not China.
But importantly, I hope cooler heads prevail, that leadership in America understands there is more to gain through peaceful co-existence than confrontation.

@@freedom.of-peach I have to disagree. Not to heap praise on my own nation’s media freedoms, but Chinese people don’t have nearly as much access to information about what’s going in n China and the world as say Americans have of what’s going on in America and the world.There’s big differences.
I do want to say though that it is remarkable what the Chinese people have been able to accomplish. The sheer speed at which the Chinese people have grown and developed is historic and a lesson others can learn from.

I understand that. But do you really think the CCP has all the answers to Chinas’s problems. It has shown before it can get things really wrong and lead to millions of lives lost. There’s many different voices and opinions being stymied in China because the CCP thinks it has the right to rule China by itself. There’s no checks on it. It runs amuck and does what it want. India shows that a large nation can have multiple parties so the argument that China needs stability through the CCP is wrong. China needs economic stability and political accountability so that the hundreds of millions of Chinese still in poverty can come out of it.
I admire the CCP only because it has lasted this long. But they need to welcome competition in the political sphere. They may very well win and sometimes they’ll lose but it’s the CCP mentality that needs to change.
