Their lyrics are stunning. It seems to me poetry mixed with pieces of philosophical essays.
Outside of Darlington 1963
on certain mornings a specter appeared In a well-appointed back garden
Its voice was still heard after the sun had burned away its image
Consulting physicists and mediums, the man he realized
It was a relative living a 1000 miles away
Half sister was thinking of him very poorly on those mornings
Iceage, shame, daughters and idles are bands that give reasons to keep living. But we humans don't deserve protomartyr
I saw shame open for protomartyr, and I loved the show but when Casey got up there he groaned out a remark about how it should be shame headlining and he almost seemed to mean it. It was kind of a messy uneven show from protomartyr but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt because the sound guy at the venue in question is fuckin' awful.
@@marcoalaridwhite1315 protomartyr are usually awesome live, that's a surprise
@@marcoalaridwhite1315 joe is too humble. I met him and he refused me half sister :( idk why the hell he'd think shame is better than his band though. It's not even close
throw Fontaines D.C. in there for good measure
@@Tannerislegendand the murder capital. post punk out of Dublin going crazy rn
This song hits so damn hard.
god the ending makes me want to crumble in a million of pieces
i feel ya
It's a killer. If I'm feeling good and this comes on Spotify rotation I have to skip it. If I'm sad I look for it.
This song means so much in my life, as I struggle everyday asking the same question Pontius did: truth, what is it? And the struggle is harder knowing that truth is indeed trying to reach each one of us, but mostly ignored or ridiculed
This is highly relevant to my interests.
Devastating. My favorite song from them
this song is so fuckin awesome
My roommate asked if we were watching a magic show? I love this band.
This is THE OA's fault
Just wow. This song and band popped up in my Spotify weekly today, and I am immediately drawn to it. Very emotional and heartfelt. Love it.
Just fantastic.
Great performance of a great song, I'm loving it
Idles, Oh sees, Black Midi, Protomartyr !!!!!!!
Idles? :O
Never heard of them before, but I think I just found one of my favourite bands!
Dive into their catalog, Rob. These guys are killing it. Each album has been solid and better than the next.
Saw them a few months ago. Completely amazing.
If your'e into the guitar and rhythm section then there's a few French bands you might wanna try. Sed Non Satiata and Diatro.
@@doddy182 I'm gonna listen to them, thx for the info
Protomartyr's oldest fan really digs this stuff!
Everyone is really in the moment and playing with so much passion.
Good as hell
one of my all time fav songs
Guitarist fucking kills it with that climax around 2:30ish
Long life to Protomartyr, I love them so much
Una sola escuchada y te enganchas con los tipos
Muy cierto!
The melody starting at 1:06... I haven't found any live performance where it is played with all the right notes, like on the album!? It drives me nuts, because it's such a great melody!!!
Hahah, I hear that! If you go to 1:12 he gets it right one time though
Mathias Rasmussen Not entirely! Aaaah
damn it yes that's so strange
Ooof! So true! Thank you for being as pedantic as me! :D
Recording and live are so different.
You can sit down recording have as many takes as you want. Most bands I've played with hate recording as it can be very clinical, red light syndrome ect
Live he's moving around a lot and is probably getting the feel of the song rather than hitting every exact note.
Seeing them soon in Ireland can't wait, love this song especially.
Jesus fucking Christ, the lyrics... Never heard anything even remotely as deep and moving.
Idk why but the start where some dude is yelling and you just hear a confused Joe Casey go, “what?” makes me fucking lose it
A Great Song. A Great Song ...for our times
so fucking good
Manso temita.
oh my god this absolutely rips
KINGS!k1
Very correct. I approve
I love this song. But why is it making me so sad? Is it because I hear the truth in it? :)
The singer reminds me of Mark E Smith in a small way - this is such a great song...
Heavily influenced by the Fall indeed but they’ve got their own sound it’s everything but a ripoff
That bass dance ♡ 1:20
😂he always does these weird steps that seem out of tune to me, but it's his trademark
@@Milklatte Would love to see it live, if they visit my city...
@@sndnckd me too. If they visited my country... 🇲🇽
@@Milklatte jajaja 🇲🇽 también.
@@sndnckd ojalá vengan un día!
Hein? Badam, badam, badam. Sublime.
Best band since Nirvana.
nirvana sucks to this
true story
@@Jimmyjazzradio come on bro cant we like both.
Cant watch this enough, cant turn the volume loud enough.
man this cameraman really loves the drummer huh?
😆
yah, well, drummers had definetely not enough attention in the past.
SO WE SHOT HIM BEHIND THE SHED.......
Nice that Dustin Hoffman popped by. 2:38
My favourite Protomartyr track. So intense!
we are waiting to Thessaloniki Greece
και αθηνα ρε μπρο. απλα να ερθουν ελλαδα καποια φαση βασικα
THe OA season 2 brought me here
José Orozco SAME !! so good
@@richblanc6238 the conversation on the bar with Eloide was ace xx
I’ve seen the first season but i never knew they featured a Protomartyr song in season 2. I actually discovered this band because their song “My Children” was featured in the first season of Netflix’s “The Rain” series.
😮OA? What's that?
I would love to know what that cymbal Alex uses is. Anyone know?
I have two half-sisters
She is trying to reach you...😏
Does the guitar near the end sound a bit out of tune to anyone else?
