I truly believe that TXT took the synth pop and mixed it into their own artistic sound to truly make it unique to them. That’s my theory on how they try to differentiate themselves from the other synth pop songs. Also I’m just vibing to “Back for More” like I do with the MJ songs I listen to.
I think why Chasing That Feeling works for me in particular is it feels like rather than doing a generic 80s pastiche, the went for a very specific sound, with a mix of Depeche Mode and A-ha
Anitta was nominated 8 times for a Grammy and won several awards in Europe and Latin America. Back For More had been stuck in my head for 2 weeks straight while I've been trying to wake myself up in the morning while drinking coffee. Even if I'm reading or watching something else it will just pop into my head. Legit, living rent free.
And yes, please check out Anitta. I found her music first and then watched a music video...and then watched all her videos. She's amazing.
So after listening to the album I really want Growing Pain to be the title track. I like Chasing That Feeling, the synth sound is great BUT as someone who listens to rock and metal I NEED a love version of Growing Pain. Personal preference, I just like the other songs on the album more than the single but it's still good; but I really love the b-sides. They sound amazing, look amazing and I've been at work so I haven't watched any live stages yet but I'm sure it was fantastic. Can't wait for my album to get here.
Album is insane
TXT is one of my top 5 boy groups of all time. Their music never disappoints. It is so funny how a lot of people forget that their fandom name, MOA, means "Moments Of Alwaysness" 😂😂😂
I think that a lot of other retro songs in kpop have gone a more funky route with the 80's sound, this is more full on 80's dark synthpop in a way that really embraced it. This is something you might get from someone like From20 if you know him, who fully embraced 80's'ness as his sound.
I wondered why the melody in the (pre?)chorus sounded so familiar (the melody you said you loved) it's from A-ha's Take on Me, the same melody Pitbull sampled in Feel This Moment.
Yeah ngl that one part sounds a lil too identical to feel this moment😭

Chasing That Feeling might feel a little bit unsettling as a tt, but the b sides are very good! This is a great album!

@@jayflauks I just meant for me I couldnt quite see it as a tt, just in my opinion. But don't get me wrong, it's just because all the songs are equally great!

Chasing That Feeling gives me Starlight by Dreamcatcher vibes. 80’s synth pop but not generic. I do wish the bridge was more exciting than just instrumentals (that Starlight bridge with Dami and Handong was perfectly executed in comparison) but I’m sure that was intentional. Because we’re accustomed to hard hitting TT’s Back For More felt much more like the title track.
But the album though is yet another masterpiece and I hope you share those reactions here also
