Thanks for the good words. Had one up for a while and reviews are super easy to find on my site. thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/capita-super-doa-2020-2023-snowboard-review/
"The wife says?" You can always lie about the price, or don't seek wooden stuff, don't buy watches, never start hunting and stay away from cars man. I honestly hope that my wife will look up the real price of all the things I have before she will sell them after I'm dead. 😅
We reviewed some in the past and they haven't changed so still relevant. Check the site. We stopped reviewing them when they stopped fulfilling orders. A lot of my readers were pissed to say the least when they paid for a Prior board but then never got one. If its certain they are functional and fulfilled or refunded all those customer orders in the past I'll reconsider reviewing.
@@thegoodridesnow well thats disconcerting! Part of the reason for getting one was I wanted to support a canadian product....I had no issues myself but that super shitty that orders were taken and not filled.....
Have you tried the Korua Pin Tonic (164) in ultra deep days? I mean when an Optimistic stalls after ten meters? And it has camber, and stability in every condition. And its nimble enough in thight forests. I wish it were a bit more lively... any other recommendations that have camber but float good (I consider the Optimistic not good)? Thanks
Great and logical review as always James. Leaning back and pressing down on my back toe or heel on my Bataleon Surfer feels as good as mashing down the gas pedal of a muscle car, or as good as punching a high school bully in the nose. I was disappointed not to see it included.
Ha! Love your writing personality! I'll try to get back on that board for an extended demo and hopefully put it through it's paces against similar favorites in the deep deep.
Yeew! These all look awesome. I love my Storm Chaser split for deep days in the back country. Was going to get a solid for pow days at the resort, but now considering the 3D Fish instead. I'm a surfer, so looking for slashy nimble float on deep days. I love my Stratos split and solid for all mountain. How would you compare the 3D Fish to the Storm Chaser, esp for the chopped up pow in between freshies? If they'd kept the flat-to-rocker on the Mind Expander, it probably would have been my go-to for resort pow. Storm Chaser feels so good in un-touched, though, that the buckiness in-between may be worth it :-)
They are. Yeah if Jones still had surf rocker on the Mind Expander I'd say go with that. Not sure on your specs etc but the Fish sounds like a safer play if you are dealing with messy resort pow days. I agree with you on the Storm Chaser. When it's clean it's a hard board to beat but man it bucks in messy snow to the point it's just not fun to ride any more. Hit me up here if you want to get into this in more detail and get real advice. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/
Im eyeing up some deals on a 2023 157 Powder Racer since I prefer a little camber. Im 6'4" 170 size 12 boot & currently ride a 157 Stalefish in powder. I love it, but I was just considering the Powder Racer for a little more width & maybe making for a smoother ride(less boot overhang dragging in pow). I ride a lot of Tahoe trees & need a nimble board. How would you compare these two boards? Should I just be happy with my Stalefish? Thanks!
The tail on those Pow Racers is pretty narrow for 12's. The Stalefish is a much better board for your specs. If you want to try something else out check out the Soul Blower 162, Korua Dart 160 or Mellow 160.
It would be interesting to hear how these board do once the pow gets chopped up. That's my biggest concern on a dedicated pow board, that they lose their magic later in the day.
@@thegoodridesnow it is very cool that you do an individual snowsurf category! Can't wait! 🤙🏻But I have to ask - what makes your selection better in powder than for example a BigFish?
Good question. Next time I do this I'll elaborate more in the vid. Haven't tried the Big Fish so can't say. Hope to get on it one day if Gentemstick has one for demo. It's all personal preference but I liked these a little better in same day powder tests than most snowsurf/alt freeride boards I've tried. That being said most will be just fine with a really floaty Snowsurf or and Alt Freeride board because they can ride it on groomers too. This is more of the last board you add to the quiver and I often recommend Snowsurf/Alt Freeride for most because they are more versatile.
I have that fish 3d that you do in the video and a deep daze and find that they do not glide very well . my old fish was very fast . have you experienced this with the newer Burton boards ? thanks very much
Yeah check the full review of the 3D fish and what I had to do to get the base to glide well. It's better this year and I owned the Deep Daze 2023 too. It had better glide than my 2021 3D fish and worked best with Burton wax but yeah they don't have the fastest bases any more.
I’m 67 and work at Fernie Alpine Resort on the Powder Highway up here in BC. I bought a 3-D Fish a couple years ago and I absolutely Love it in the Pow. I just bought a Hometown Hero for my All Mountain use. I’ve used Step Ons for years and will never go back to Straps.
So I gotta ask how does the powder glider measure up against the 162cm Spring Break Tree Hunter , i bought that and the 158cm Mind Expander based on your reccomendations a few years back as the boards that offered more float than anything else. Also how does the golden orca measure up against the spring break powder twin ?
Oh that Tree Hunter was special. I think you are good with that and the old rocker ME. Golden Orca is much more directional, has taper, set back on sidecut, set back on board, a slower base and a pretty different overall ride compared to the perfectly centered Capita Pow Twin
These all float easier than those boards. The Archetype didn't float that well for us compared to many swallow tails but it really carved groomers well. Felt like more of a big mountain/steep terrain board. Struggled more than I thought it would in low angle pow. Squash felt more floaty than the Archetype.. Great for high speed groomer carves and could easily work as your pow board but not as floasty as these by a good bit. Not very turny either so if you like a turny board I would pass.
@@thegoodridesnow yeah I wanted something that can still be carvy and all mountain with some added benefit of stay on top of pow. Have you ever ridden Chimera? I'm looking at getting the Sceptre splitboard next year
I thought you have a jones mind expander or two and that is your favorite powder board ? In your other video you say it’s what you compare powder boards to
Testing it now. Fun board but really digging the Cougar. So far it's the highlight of my test with the Shape Shifter, Proto Fr, Valhalla, Easy Rider and Swift. I have some vids up for early access members here and more to come. www.patreon.com/thegoodride
Yep. Some Korua will be in the Snowsurf and Alt Freeride favorites though. Love those boards but they just carve groomers soo hard they don't belong here. If you go here thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 you can see our favorites if you hit the favorite filter.

you guys influenced me big time over the years. Keep on the great work boiiiis
Many thanks!
Holding on dearly to my Jones Mind Expander 2020: flat to rocker and that 9000 base is super fast! It's a pity they downgraded that over the years
Fish 3D in its element (11+ pow tight trees) shine shines so my experience in one word: effortlessmagiccarpetride❤🙏
You guys are amazing! Keep up the good work. Hope you know it's appreciated
Many thanks!
Thanks James! That powder looks FANTASTIC! What resort is that?

Working on it.
@@thegoodridesnow hoping to see the flag ship😅 just added it to my mind expander twin, feels like it would be a great 2 board quiver imo
Ha! That will compliment your ME Twin really well as a 2 board quiver and give you much more directional float if you can use those set back inserts.
@@thegoodridesnow i actually do
Love the twin anytime and anywhere but did want a directional beast for carving and deep depp pow

How does the Korua Pin Tonic 172 float compared to the Spring Break Boards?
Hoping to find out soon. Some are on the way. They should carve up groomers incredibly well too so prob not a pure pow ride.
Love your reviews! 😍 Highly appreciated! 💪🏼 But no Gentemstick on a powder list really baffles me 😂😂😂
Thanks. Working on snowsurf favorites and Gentemstick Barracuda will be there. Not a pure pow board like these cuz its super fun on groomers too.
