The Ed Sullivan Show was a television variety program that aired on CBS from 1948-1971. For 23 years it aired every Sunday night and played host to the world's greatest talents. The Ed Sullivan Show is well known for bringing rock n' roll music to the forefront of American culture through acts like Elvis Presley, The Beatles, and The Rolling Stones. The entertainers each week ranged from comedians like Joan Rivers and Rodney Dangerfield, to Broadway stars Julie Andrews and Richard Burton, to pop singers such as Bobby Darin and Petula Clark. It also frequently featured stars of Motown such as The Supremes, The Temptations, Stevie Wonder and The Jackson 5. The Ed Sullivan Show was one of the only places on American television where such a wide variety of popular culture was showcased and its legacy lives on to this day.

One of the best singers of all time. So underrated unfortunately.
Amen to what you said a phenomenal singer did you know that she was considered for the role of Fanny Brice in the Broadway production of Funny Girl before Streisand I don't know if she was offered the part but she was the first one they thought of
How wonderful to see the great Eydie Gorme making her debut on this channel. I really hope we will see the first appearances of other legendary ladies like Vikki Carr and Kay Starr appear here very soon! And please give us more Patti Page, The McGuire Sisters and Connie Francis.
EYDIE GORME taught me everything i know...a phenomenal singer.
She was a real singer!
I ❤️ Eydie Gorme! I had her 45 single. Blame it on the Bossa Nova. And the album in Spanish, "Eydie Gorme and Los Panchos."
The fact that Eydie had a truly bilingual singing career helped her a great deal. Not to mention that before she started her singing career, she was a translator at the UN.
And she did make an appearance with Los Panchos on Ed Sullivan. That's the one I want to see!
'love Eydie's Bossa Nova! One of the best songs and performances ever.
One of the best voices in the business! LOVE Eydie!!!
I love that lilting voice of eydie....very fine performance...
Eydie Gorme is always such a delight!
Always Perfection! 1:54
The ever-enchanting Eydie Gorme. My only regret is that she wasn't cloned.
SIMPLY THE BEST!!!! Please post more Eydie.
It is always a treat to see and hear Eydie Gorme. I believe she appeared on this program several times. I hope we get to see more Eydie in the future. Thank you for posting this wonderful performance. I enjoyed it very much.
Listen to her singing in fluent Spanish. Outstanding.
Right! I totally agree.
She has a flute sound in her voice...and a very great phrasing, expression and solid legato as well as solid beting and great variation in vibrato and straight tone
What a Beautiful Voice ... "Sugar Sweet!" 🌈💙 Thank you for sharing! 💖
Absolutely excellent! I like the segway into the second song. Her dress was gorgeous. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You and stay safe.
Her voice is perfection. What a singer
YES EXACTLY
She was soooo good
I absolutely adore this lady. Be still my heart 💜
❤❤❤❤
She also sang in Spanish , it was amazing 😍
a great old time belter like Garland; love it
This was wonderful to see Eydie early in her career. Is there anymore with Eydie from the ed sullivan show?
a very fine singer who along with hubby Steve Lawrence performed with Sinatra the last couple of years of his performing life.... consummate professionals...they did everything they could to insure the aging Sinatra...who no longer was performing well....was supported and respected while on stage together....
She could never really deliver a sad ballad like this, despite the A-1 tip-top sensational voice; she was an uptempo excitement singer. That's perhaps why they took it up towards the end.
Judy Garland owned this lane at that time.
Attention young wanna be singers: this is how a song should be sung.
