More Info About Knowing Jesus:
Knowing someone involves understanding their personality, character, experiences, and values. It goes beyond mere acquaintance to a deeper level of relational intimacy. Such as growing in awareness and familiarity. To know someone starts with basic awareness and familiarity. You know their name, their interests, and perhaps some surface-level details about their life. As you spend more time with someone, you begin to grow in understanding of their thoughts, feelings, and what they value. This involves listening actively and paying attention to their actions and words.
“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” - Colossians 2:6-7 Knowing someone deeply involves building trust. This trust is built over time through consistent behavior and mutual respect. Shared experiences create a bond that helps you know someone better. These can be moments of joy, hardship, success, or failure that you go through together. Truly knowing someone means you have empathy with their struggles and joys. You feel with them and support them through different seasons of life. Intimacy is the deepest level of knowing, where you are fully known and fully accepted by the other person. There are no pretenses or masks, just genuine connection.
That’s where the Knowing Jesus project comes in. It's all about relationship over religion. Knowing Jesus is not about religious rituals, but about a personal relationship. It's about spending time in His presence, understanding His heart, and aligning our lives with His teachings. Just like you get to know a friend by spending time with them and sharing your life, you get to know Jesus by spending time in prayer, reading the Bible, and seeking His presence. As a shepherd knows his sheep intimately, guiding and caring for them, Jesus knows us and desires us to know Him in return. Jesus said… "I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me." - John 10:14 By knowing Jesus, we gain a deeper understanding of God’s plan, purpose, and meaning for our lives. It’s a journey of growing closer to Him and becoming more like Him each day.
