Hey Pohx, just wanted to say I very much appreciate all you've done for the PoE community, particularly your work in making the game so much more friendly and approachable for new players. I am not an RF player though I have dabbled in it here and there, so my knowledge is certainly not as great as yours for RF builds. But I do make my own builds and a large variety of them for everything I play. With how severe the nerf coming is and how hard you are trying still to help others, I wanted to see if I could do anything to help you. So I wanted to share a tweaked version of my chieftain explodey RF that I played recently in SSFHC. I feel the new chieftain has a lot of advantages, one of which is that you need almost no elemental res on gear. While most people see that simply as meh, I saw it as meaning you can use items that have great damage that you normally need to get out of later game in favor of resistance and the like. One such example would be Pyre (extreme damage) or Kikazaru (extreme flat regen) rings. Another advantage of chieftain is the -20 fire res while stationary ascendancy. This allowed me to forgo ALL res reducing things (Flammability, Exposure, Legacy of Fury, etc.) and in their place I can use old forgotten and unloved tech (awakener orbed gloves for damage for example). Keeping Spiritual Aid also means the sceptre is MUCH easier to craft. I scratched together a PoB copying as many elements from the one in your vid as possible for an apples to apples (unfortunately, I don't know what Cobalt Jewels you used since you never moused over them so I took my best guess at very basic and cheap jewels.) I do have to put a disclaimer that I am on Punishment and the "Low Life" is ticked for the enemy, so this dps is only on the latter half of a tanky guy's life. But the upside to this version is it avoids all of the tricky to get uniques that you mentioned (I only have cheap and common uniques) so it should be much more suitable for league start. You'll notice I'm already at 90 to all max res and I haven't even maxed out the sources of max res. So there's flexibility to replace Rise of Phoenix with say Dawnbreaker, or cut points from tree, just to name 2 options. In any case, feel free to either use it, borrow ideas from it, or not use it at all. 3.22 was my first foray into RF Juggernaut. I am sold. Tanky. Decent damage. Fun to play. The gear doesn’t need to be over the top, but you can keep adding almost non-stop. I found that really fun. I just hope we can pull it off this league.

I was playing your RF for the second time this leage and was devastated reading those nerfs. I was finally able to learn some endgame content with your build, without having to focus so hard on just surviving! Thank you for working so hard on this, will try to leaguestart RF again on Friday
im litterally in the exact same bout, 3.22 was my first real rf build and i killed all endgame bosses which i never had before, so i was HYPEd to start rf from day 1 rather than month 2 like 3.22, and now im demoralised as fuck, a rare unique 6 link MANDATORY makes its reeeeeeeeaaaaaallly hard to wanna start it because i know it will be minimum 1 week of low crappy dmg farming for someone like me to afford it
@@kingzor100look up the lokus of corruption and doryanni institute farm. Can be done with evey build even on white maps. And now, it probably will be even better, since quality of gems was boosted.
Well, its not like he has options, he has so stream Poe on league start, thats why he needs to work with what he gets 🤣. Even if they put damage to 50% of max life.

You can use Chieftain: Easy resistances and max resistances --> don't need this shield and so u can use 2nd scepter, same time you don't need so much resistances on items and u can pick MORE damage mods. In the same time you have BEST BOOMS in the game, this 5% chanse 500% hp explodes have unreal clearing on the map. And, u dont need exposure, curse on -res, coz you have Ramako on bosses.
Also, going chieftain you will prob be doing life based, and can use the new burning arrow for single target (24% of life as added fire damage) just gotta scale some ignite chance, but that will be good for the explode
Please make a build in PoB for me on this. I play ruthless but I really really want to play chieftain with that 5% node. Feel like the primalist ascendancy would be best for your idea.@@Abossow77

@@SuperCatacata If you build it right then it will be as good, if not better early on. It also has like a minimum of triple the scaling endgame, it's absurd.
@@Arcticun Show proof. Late game I 100% agree, but early game to red maps I haven't seen anyone provide a single build doing what the old RF gem with flat damage did better. Literally every build showing better numbers requires like 50- 500 div investment.
The Burning Arrow of Vigour (Deals added fire damage equal to 24% of maximum life) with life stacking RF might be interesting. Very curious to see how RF builds turn out after the changes+new gems.

I tried RF jugg for the first time last league and it felt like at home for me. It's like playing cold dot Trickster but scaling armor instead and dealing fire instead of cold damage. Very convenient and you are always in control. Without a jugg version it feels weird to scale block which is rly rng and then max res, which is also weird (suppress covers everything at once consistently)
Well, judging by how weird and powerful the released transfigured gem look like, there might be a "new" RF gem work very much like the "old" one, and better there might be a skill that scales you max life that can replace fire trap, if that happens, Jugg is back on top for its defense against ultimatum.
@Pohx Just to tell you that Legacy of the Fury will disable Utula's hunger! I tried last league build those two together, but noticed it doesn't work, even tho Legacy doesn't say that it has life modifiers :(
I did the same thing as Pohx, and I really couldn't find a decent way to make Jugg or Chieftain work. It is more than a 50% nerf in damage. That isn't to say others won't find a way, but all this gem change did was shift RF from being played by Jugg/Cheiftain and to a lesser extent Inquisitor, to Scion and the right side of the tree that can scale ES. Secondly, almost every build is now going to be using Ivory Tower + Coruscating Elixir. That doesn't sound fun to me. But to each their own.
Nice video as usual: do you plan to release the INQ pob before league start and will it include leveling trees ? Is the 3.22 INQ written guide usable as is or should we wait for the updated version ?

Hey pohx! Love your builds and videos! They just released some new gems, what do you think of going with the new burning arrow for single target on life-based builds? (It, instead of flat, has 24% of life as added fire) you'd need ignite chance, but that can work well on chieftain so you can also get more mileage out of that explosion
That's a cool find. I'm not sure how important the explosions are for RF since the clear is usually good, but the arrows could be a decent option for boss damage. It would depend on how important scaling gem levels (spell) and having a shield is in the end.
@@ZovcDrafts I think level scaling is off the table, as both RF and BA are % life shield is going to hurt because no shield charge :( also, explosions are good if you want a more walking simulator playstyle (think Deaths oath occultist with her explosions + HoAsh)

hi Phox, great content. while looking through different gems and skills, i wonder if it is an idea to use Discharge as a source of burst damage and probably a big ignite? with the jugg version and RF going there should be a huge endurance explosion, right?
Yea there's also potential some a transfigured fire trap to do something nice, or even another transfigured gem overtaking fire trap for the single target. Pretty exciting stuff
PoB just got updated with the new version of righteous fire and my 3.22 character went from 3mil rf dmg down to 980k! Thats almost a 70% decrease, wow.
I feel like high es builds will be just better for RF now. Possibly strength stacking where you can fairly easily get 30k es, which will get you loads of dps beyond previous scaling.
This is what I was thinking. Looking at his items, the Titan Gauntlets and Royal Burgonet item base choices seem to be leaving damage on the table unless there's something I'm missing about those item bases
I think the whole goal was to make the gear achievable, especially on league start or for new players... and as he stated he hasn’t really done any stacking before.
Is something akin to Aila’s RF Occultist possible now with the changes? As that was really cheap... just the pure momentum based play was hit when occi was nerfed like 2 years ago... would be interesting to see your take :)
I think trigering a tincture with shield charge or something every 4 seconds just to sustain flask charges on ruby flask and taste of hate is a must have for bossing.
Pohx true believer of RF. Dude trying to do everything possible to bring back the dead league start RF. I suggest going some other route to get to level 70-80 and get some currency to respec into this. Very good video. Thanks for the info pohx!
Pohx, on league start - how would jug go at getting to the first two void stones? I am defs gonna do RF, I really want to do Jugg because I love the ease tankyness that it has.
small cluster jewel with life, prefix towering threat and sublime sensation, wouldnt either one of them be very good for new RF? whats your opinion about that?
I have a feeling the transformed rf gem will be flat degen taken with flat damage dealt and no life scaling it would be genuinely interesting if a level 30 gem applied more degen than old builds were able to regen too. I'd be super excited about trying to make it work!
Have you actual thought that they removed flat damage from RF and increased its life based damage so they could introduce tranfigured version that will use only flat damage and no life% ?

Could a Dawnbreaker shield be used if the +max life implicit gets corrupted off? I might have to draft up a Trickster in PoB and see how that looks as well
The Crimson Power passive on the Warlock skill tree turns energy shield on gear into health. This may make large health pools easier to achieve overall since you can put energy shield and health on items.
Just wanted to ask about gloves on the max build; would having gloves with the delve prefix 'Curse enemies with Flammability on hit' be better than fire exposure on hit?
@@ethanlarge3572 My bad, I just double-checked and you're right. I thought they were both curses and since we didn't pick up whispers of doom it wouldn't work with both.
don't know how relevant this is, but body swap quality has some synergy with massive hp stacking. (8% of your hp as base fire dmg at 20 quality) Maybe a bodyswap ignite RF'er is possible.
So does this mean that me being only a second rime Rf user and I was a jug that I am now not going be able to use Rf because everything looks like it's going to be way expensive to build now😮
difficult to find someone as honest about their builds, showing real numbers not fantasy PoB schemes ; difficult to understand how and why RF was so ignored by GGG in this league, when so many people use it (even other builds use it) ; i'm still hoping he comes up with an ace up the sleeve because I really like the playstyle
Genuinely curious if you feel the new unique helm that drops enemy res to 0 for damage they do to you would be good if you can convert a tiny portion of damage you take to fire
Damn, Brass Dome will be dirty cheap this league it seems. Most people using it are RF Juggs. But I still need to look at the new transfigured gems before jumping into that conclusion
Has anyone played both the Inquis and the Jugg versions? I'm only playing on HC and Jugg has always been comfy and I'm not overall stressed by needing the fastest of clear speeds/bossing, but the Inquis damage looks super tempting and also possibly tankier with higher hp values+es. My concern would be the avoidance of 1-shots, as long as you avoid doing insanely stupid shit is Inquis still moderately safe? If the Jugg DPS is still viable I'd prefer it, but I'm worried..
Any thoughts on Chieftain Ignite for Ultimatum (RF not being a main dmg link, at most used as a buff)? I am concerned that if I start the league like that, Chieftain will lack in clearspeed outside very dense mechanics (breach, expedition, ultimatum, blight and so on), meaning it could feel terrible for mapping and lack dps for single target/bossing without aids (rip Trialmaster fight). I do know that spells like Fire Trap will still be strong (scales DoT from Spell dmg scaling as well), and we will have interesting other options to ignite (DD, new Penance Brand, maybe Rolling Magma and Flameblast?), but I'm just torn between trying out such an uncertain Chieftain or playing SRS Guardian, a safer approach to the new league...
Im league starting Chieftain for sure, im still undecided if i will go RF for start and then transition to ignite or start ignite from the getgo. If i go ignite ill probably go Divine Ire, Mathil had a very strong variant in previous league with videos etc.
Ignite chieftain is dead, they removed each damage points from him. The only relevant thing is hinekora cheese, but thats not real ignite dps, its just a cheated way to do some content. Elementalist is the only one that can play ignite properly.
@@GE_Photon_Lord That's my fear yeah, Corpse Explosion is cheesy, but it does work for specific content. That being said, on league start that's probably far too limiting (and standing still to deal dmg is oof). I decided to go SRS Guardian, that's ag reat overall package and can likely do well in most content. Just gotta get that Trigger Wand asap...
When I first read the Affliction ascendancies I though Crimson Power straight up converted ES into life but no, no such fun. Just ES from is treated as life. Still. Happy Utulua's hunger got carried over to core.
Do we have any information about how scales the RF gem? I figured out for the same current lvl 20 rf damage you need 6.5k hp. If rf have scaling, I hope it is 35% hp pool + 1.75% per lvl. If no scaling for the same as lvl 21 rf you need 8K.

This is what I was thinking. Looking at his items, the Titan Gauntlets and Royal Burgonet item base choices seem to be leaving damage on the table unless there's something I'm missing about those item bases
I think the whole goal was to make the gear achievable, especially on league start or for new players... and as he stated he hasn’t really done any stacking before.

I think trigering a tincture with shield charge or something every 4 seconds just to sustain flask charges on ruby flask and taste of hate is a must have for bossing.

Just a note, that damage will be equivalent to double 1/0 not 1/20 current RF gem as the quality gets changed from burning damage to AOE.

I have a feeling the transformed rf gem will be flat degen taken with flat damage dealt and no life scaling it would be genuinely interesting if a level 30 gem applied more degen than old builds were able to regen too. I'd be super excited about trying to make it work!
Have you actual thought that they removed flat damage from RF and increased its life based damage so they could introduce tranfigured version that will use only flat damage and no life% ?
honestly, the most likely thing is that the new gems have a different bonus on Quality, so instead of Range those ones will have damage or something

The Crimson Power passive on the Warlock skill tree turns energy shield on gear into health. This may make large health pools easier to achieve overall since you can put energy shield and health on items.

don't know how relevant this is, but body swap quality has some synergy with massive hp stacking. (8% of your hp as base fire dmg at 20 quality) Maybe a bodyswap ignite RF'er is possible.
I think the additive damage is not nearly enough even counting the 8% to compare to fire trap :(

difficult to find someone as honest about their builds, showing real numbers not fantasy PoB schemes ; difficult to understand how and why RF was so ignored by GGG in this league, when so many people use it (even other builds use it) ; i'm still hoping he comes up with an ace up the sleeve because I really like the playstyle
Genuinely curious if you feel the new unique helm that drops enemy res to 0 for damage they do to you would be good if you can convert a tiny portion of damage you take to fire

Damn, Brass Dome will be dirty cheap this league it seems. Most people using it are RF Juggs. But I still need to look at the new transfigured gems before jumping into that conclusion

Has anyone played both the Inquis and the Jugg versions? I'm only playing on HC and Jugg has always been comfy and I'm not overall stressed by needing the fastest of clear speeds/bossing, but the Inquis damage looks super tempting and also possibly tankier with higher hp values+es. My concern would be the avoidance of 1-shots, as long as you avoid doing insanely stupid shit is Inquis still moderately safe? If the Jugg DPS is still viable I'd prefer it, but I'm worried..
In my opinion, Inquis is still moderately safe if you have some experience already with HC (which you seem to do).
So.. any RF starter build are alive?
Any thoughts on Chieftain Ignite for Ultimatum (RF not being a main dmg link, at most used as a buff)?
I am concerned that if I start the league like that, Chieftain will lack in clearspeed outside very dense mechanics (breach, expedition, ultimatum, blight and so on), meaning it could feel terrible for mapping and lack dps for single target/bossing without aids (rip Trialmaster fight).
I do know that spells like Fire Trap will still be strong (scales DoT from Spell dmg scaling as well), and we will have interesting other options to ignite (DD, new Penance Brand, maybe Rolling Magma and Flameblast?), but I'm just torn between trying out such an uncertain Chieftain or playing SRS Guardian, a safer approach to the new league...
Im league starting Chieftain for sure, im still undecided if i will go RF for start and then transition to ignite or start ignite from the getgo. If i go ignite ill probably go Divine Ire, Mathil had a very strong variant in previous league with videos etc.
Ignite chieftain is dead, they removed each damage points from him. The only relevant thing is hinekora cheese, but thats not real ignite dps, its just a cheated way to do some content. Elementalist is the only one that can play ignite properly.
@@GE_Photon_Lord That's my fear yeah, Corpse Explosion is cheesy, but it does work for specific content. That being said, on league start that's probably far too limiting (and standing still to deal dmg is oof). I decided to go SRS Guardian, that's ag reat overall package and can likely do well in most content. Just gotta get that Trigger Wand asap...

When I first read the Affliction ascendancies I though Crimson Power straight up converted ES into life but no, no such fun. Just ES from is treated as life.

What about a life/str stacker combo?
Do we have any information about how scales the RF gem? I figured out for the same current lvl 20 rf damage you need 6.5k hp. If rf have scaling, I hope it is 35% hp pool + 1.75% per lvl. If no scaling for the same as lvl 21 rf you need 8K.
Should be like old RF, which was 70 at all levels
