  • Often times when one encounters a cockroach unexpectedly, shrieks of fear and disgust ensue. This is usually the case since society stigmatises them as pests and vectors of disease.
Yet, did you know that only less than 10% of the known cockroach species are actually found in households? Join our visiting researcher, Cristian Lucanas, as we explore the diversity of cockroaches in Singapore based on literature, online resources and recent field surveys conducted locally.
This talk will emphasise on unique and potentially new species (not just the typical ones you see munching on leftovers in your trash bins!), which were previously unrecorded.
Who knows? You might come to appreciate and see them in a different light!
Webinar by visiting researcher Cristian Lucanas, Museum of Natural History, University of the Philippines Los Baños.
Moderated by Mr Foo Maosheng, Scientific Officer, Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum.
This webinar took place on 28 May 2022 (Sat), 2 PM (SGT).
