i agree fully, I've been working at this retail place for almost 2 years and i'm also a full time college student, and i have to say it's draining af, depressing, and i have no social life. I've had plenty of my ex friends or friends get fired or quit over the stupidest shit and them working at a job with slightly less benefits that this place gives you. Every new guy that comes into my department i have to basically train them not to be stupid.. which is fine, but i have to tell them right from wrong and that there's always something to do, just don't sit on your ass and be lazy. right? i swear the amount of times i've had to babysit literal vegetables in the head is unfathomable, i would be so glad to sit on my ass for 4-6 hours a day and stream and make a living off that and travel, i'd probably be more happier then my shitty job fr, i don't even get paid as bad, i make $15.61 an hour just being in frozen/dairy. Kept the department straight hut always got reemed for not making metrics til it eventually came to blows, and i had to find a different job. Job i have now is laid back and no stress at all but i had to take a pay cut.

Im a musician who just got my first ever professional gig, and i am being paid $20 (+ $1 for every ticket i sell, so about $25) for 40 hours of rehersals/work. Plus however long i spend practicing outside of rehersal too, and if im aboe to make a living off of music id consider myself extremely privlaged

Every new guy that comes into my department i have to basically train them not to be stupid.. which is fine, but i have to tell them right from wrong and that there's always something to do, just don't sit on your ass and be lazy. right? i swear the amount of times i've had to babysit literal vegetables in the head is unfathomable, i would be so glad to sit on my ass for 4-6 hours a day and stream and make a living off that and travel, i'd probably be more happier then my shitty job fr, i don't even get paid as bad, i make $15.61 an hour just being in frozen/dairy. for the really big streamers i’m sure there are a lot of pressures that come with having such a large audience that the common person can’t comprehend BUT to conclude that their job is harder than retail workers for example is so dumb. the money they make more than makes up for any challenges that might come with it. and like you said if they’re really that stressed they have the privilege to take a break whenever they want unlike the average worker

That number of counties SKYROCKETS to 10% when you account for a one bedroom. The vast majority of Americans are trapped in the working class, completely under the heel of the capitalist class, robbed of their autonomy and freedom, completely alienated from meaningful relationships with other people, nature, and the fruit of their labor. All so they can be paid a wage lower than the value they produce, simply in the hopes that they might be able to afford to buy food to survive. this is why i’m grateful as fuck to do content full time now- because I went from working retail full time for years amongst other blue collar and minimum wage jobs. I know the struggle, and doing content for hours after my main jobs was ASS and tiring as hell but it paid off. Kept the department straight hut always got reemed for not making metrics til it eventually came to blows, and i had to find a different job. Job i have now is laid back and no stress at all but i had to take a pay cut.
Even in the entertainment world, streaming is probably the easiest form of entertainment you could do. Im a musician who just got my first ever professional gig, and i am being paid $20 (+ $1 for every ticket i sell, so about $25) for 40 hours of rehersals/work. Plus however long i spend practicing outside of rehersal too, and if im aboe to make a living off of music id consider myself extremely privlaged
