Bro, blow my damn ac all night. At the damn setting I want, and start the truck for 15-30 every few hours. The fuck you mean it’s a 66 degree knob but if I can’t use it bc the truck won’t hit it and turn off? Shit stupid, now I’m pissed off in a sweaty wet t shirt at 2 am bc my truck hasn’t turned on once in 8 hours
Don’t assume 85 or anything. It just sucks . If the truck is sitting, it gets hot uncomfortable. ESP if other trucks are close by. Worst system. S look eep deprivation
I work fer them and the opti idle hardly works. Was in the 90s and it never came on and me and the dog where so hot. I can say my dog gets sick or dies they will have a lawsuit. Its crazy they won't let the truck run when it's over 75 outside. I hardly get sleep because I wake up in a puddle of sweat .
They'd rather save a dollar than prevent driver fatigue...then put the blame on us for not sleeping well and say we need a sleep study or whatever. They act like they can't afford to upgrade our level of comfort, as if they'll go broke... just like any other company: too focused on rapid growth than quality.
@@Alive_N_freeridin I know im almost a year late lol but personally opti idle causes fatigue, every 20 mins the trucks turning on shaking the bunk, waking you up..
Yup complete BS. Wish there was a company that put driver comfort first....it definitely affects driver happiness, which affects performance. Not sure why these companies don't see it that way. I guess greed trying to penny pinch?
@@kengol2382no. It goes to battery mode. Meaning it will turn on at low voltage. It could be 130⁰ degrees. If the battery voltage is secure, no kick on
Crete needs to stop putting saving money over driver satisfaction and comfort. None of us sleep well with this stupid opti idle garbage. Spend a little extra money to keep your drivers from fatigue. If you call and complain for not sleeping well...they just day everyone else's runs perfectly and that maybe you should get a sleep study or something, rather than trusting the driver and helping. Sleeping well is number 1. If I ran a truck company I'd spend as much money as I could to take care of the driver. A happy driver is a successful company. My uncle and aunt owned a trucking company for 30+yrs. Tool care of their drivers very very well. Always made sure they had what they needed, got home when they needed and wanted, and payed them very very well even on home time. Guess what...NO RETENTION ISSUE! Guarantee you Crete can afford to upgrade driver comfort...they act like they'll go broke. Sick of the damn BS, but unfortunately most companies do it.
FYI they didn’t tell you this but you gotta have that plate pretty much cleared of obstruction in your clothes close that plate can’t be blocked or it’ll act like insulation from the clothes thinking it’s cooler in there when it’s not
I don't mind the opti-idle. I do mind when I am not getting cold air blowing inside this metal box. I have reset the dials many times, sometimes it works, many times it doesn't. The truck has been in the shop twice already, and I am told everything is fine. Frustrating!!
I close the back curtain and shut off the back AC when driving. That way all the cool air from the front stays in the front with me. Makes it easier to stay cool when driving in the south. Otherwise the heat from the back roof won’t let you stay fresh up front
Clearly none of your drivers like, or enjoy this. Do something about it to help the people making Crete millions of dollars a running company. This is not “IT”.
Well, now I know why I was sweltering in my truck earlier today. I came looking for answers thinking I was doing something wrong. Definitely disappointed that this is going to be the norm.
They don't care. They'd rather save a dollar than prevent driver fatigue, then push the blame on us and say we need a sleep study or something. Guarantee the company can afford to upgrade our comfort. Tired of them acting as if they'll go broke and out of business if they did it. Complete BS and disrespect to us drivers (most valuable resource...right? - nah, it's the customer)
My truck 2022 freighter will do all that he says and more . If it’s 85 degrees or hotter it changes from interior comfort mode to continuous comfort mode and won’t default if on too long.
Crete is fuel focused they would rather me run out of fuel than get 10 gallons at the wrong place. With their "buy into the company" option, and trailers that literally point at the driver as their most valuable asset. I'm worth less when I'm off duty, than the Idle fuel +hours on the truck. You want me to give you another part of my check?
This system sucks. It's too warm in the truck almost every night in the spring. Can't imagine 110⁰ summers. This is why God drivers will leave. The trailers with the arrow pointing at the cab should be pointed to the fuel tanks. I get it. But I'm sick of hot nights listening to the reefer power up and my ac doesn't. If the ambient temp is such that a reefer initiates cooling, why didn't my truck? And why, when its +100⁰ can i not just idle the truck to keep me from dying? I have to rely on some virtual thermpstat built in the cheapest freightliner model.

Still don’t like it, hardly get any sleep

If opt-idle worked you wouldn’t have to put out this video every year with different procedures and updating truck parameters.

Agreed. Optidle is gonna kill someone. It's pure trash..
How much is an apu?
Apparently enough to justify the profit.
If you're lucky.
Any way to turn off the alarm before the truck starts? Beeeep then it starts.
So it has to be 85 degrees outside for this thing to work properly?
That’s outrageous

There is you guys just choose to stay with these chumps
I would try turning optimized idle on but comfort mode off. I haven't tested this yet, but it might run as needs be.

Yeah too much shit to sleep .😊
OPTI-IDLE shows drivers you don't care about them. Starting over and over equals poor sleep for drivers. Its a shit system.
It choked me out this morning. Engine still running ac not on or any gauges wtf?

I cant sleep opti idle sucks i had to buy a fan but still ended up having to get up 3 to 4 times at night FIX THIS Freightliner!!!
Zero sleep.
This only applies to the Freightliners

Imagine having to go through all this to try and get some sleep these people don’t know anything about being otr.

well his daddy is the ceo so there you go
They won’t put apu’s in the trucks but they’ll drop $7m cash on a new terminal.
We need kenworth too
“…assume outside temp 85 degrees or hotter” ???
We’ll then assume that the INSIDE temp is somewhere in the ballpark of sweatbox or hotter. 🤣😂
My truck is 2023
Even cheap ass Heartland lets their trucks (even the ones with EPU's) idle above 79 degrees. Opti-Idle is trash.
Pease I need spoken Español please
Is better and APU but company don't want to spend money since they sleep at there house they don't care about what driver go thru .
