My oh my what a glorious show, struggle or not. It didn't show and I won't be the only one to say that the classiness just shone through even if the sun didn't 🙏🙏🙏
"Embracing the Grey" day five, I take my hat off to you! Early starts do take there toll on you. Now sit back and kick your shoes off and put your feet up and relax. Oh! by the way some nicely captured images this week Lynne. ✨✨✨
After 5 days of getting up at 3am without any colour in the skies i would have thrown all the teddies out of the cot. As always you have still returned some lovely images. thank you for sharing, looking forward to next weeks adventure.
Well hello again Lynne🙂 as always another great vlog, I particularly loved the last one and your lining up of the horizon, keep up the good work and I'm already looking forward to the next one 👍
The little town of Southwold is a lovely place with it's white lighthouse and of course its pier also. Been a few times and the sun definitely cheers a place up more. You did good Lynne and I really like the last shot especially. Well done! for a 5 day - 3am start spell. That takes some doing!
Good morning, Lynne. Another great video. You always manage to capture at least a couple of images from a site where there doesn't appear to be one. Thanks for putting the work into the videos for us to enjoy.
It was an odd place ,I've seen many a cracking image from there but sadly not for me. Had to happen I guess ,I expect I'll try again at some point in the future though Sandy 👍👍
Love your vids Lynne. Think I appreciate all the voicing of the thought process behind your decisions of composition and settings etc.... Can honestly say I loved all the pics in this vid.
Thanks for a wonderful, informative clip. Your explanations were detailed and made sense. Loved the final images that you included. There is so much I have yet to learn, but I'll get there, and looking forward to getting out once this COVID-induced lockdown ends, Down Under.
Great effort Lynne on achieving 5 x 3am starts, I thought you were being a bit hard on yourself as the 3rd image at 7.13 with rock wall, marker, pier and water movement was a excellent image with nice composition. After viewing the video a second time my pick would have been the marker boy at 10.50 using the 6 stop which gave you very nice water movement. Again thanks so much for sharing your images and knowledge as it's much appreciated. Thank you.
Grey Seems a bit of a Theme with your Lynne, what a wonderful Location, Brilliant potential under great Lighting but the conditions are not in your favour! Iconic coast location is correct!
All good shots, Lynne. I think my fav was the last. How do you manage to find empty beaches? Ours here in Jersey are always packed and people, even though they see you are trying to take a picture, stop in front of you, stand there and talk, pick up shells, etc. Very frustrating! I think I need to move to a remote island or something! Anyway, rant over. Glad you had a good week but sorry you didn't get much light. Thanks for sharing and be well
Hi lauriel ....emptyish beaches are easy at daft o'clock, that's why I like summer sunrises ...winter is trickier as sunrise is at a mote civilised time so more folk about 🙄
I'm sure if you were here at the beginning of your trip, you might not have struggled Lynne as you said the constant grey conditions have probably taken its toll but autumn is not that far away so hopefully you will be able to indulge in an array of colour soon. Very much appreciated your tip about the polariser negating the horizon, will need to give that one a try. Likewise I try to set the Kelvin in the field and use post for any final tweaks in order to get a good indication of how things look after taking the image. Even though you had a bit if a tussle on your final day you still came away with some great images, especially loved the final image
Yes it certainly looks a very grey yak of a morning on the box to me, but seeing you week in and week out I just knew that you would get something! I have never been to Southwold but I have certainly heard about Southwold Pier....and those colourfull chalets looked good. Thank you for taking us there...
I especially liked the one with a bit of movement at the end. My Nikon Z7 died this week. She’s off back to Nikon, to see what the problem is. Good job I still have my trusty old D700, she’s never let me down. 😔
Oh dear Lynne, a whole week of grey. At least you persevered and so came away with some cracking images. I recall spending a week in the Lakes where I had downpours all day every day and did not manage to get one image. Of course, as I was leaving the sun came out and it started to clear! 🤦♂️ Thanks for the video, see you next week. 👍🙂
Liked the "short" long exposures Lynne, like to see some water movement from the returning tide. Interesting how you use the polariser to help blend sky and water a bit. ps, just purchased a K&F concept TC2534 based on one of your earlier videos and noticed you have fitted a different head, any particular reason.
Every day's a school day David ,I wish I'd noticed the polariser effect on horizons a long whole back 😁 Re the 3 way geared head ,I just wanted a bit more precise control when adjusting the camera 👍
Hi Mike ,5880kelvin is pretty much daylight temperature . 10 stop filters (I can only speak for the LEE filter) will add a color cast due I believe to the manufacturing process or . So I adjust the white balance manually when using the 10 stop to overcome the issue. Hope that helps 👍
Grey again Lynne, isn't photography a funny old game. 5 early starts you would have thought a bit of light was on the cards. Some nice images though, and, there's always tomorrow.
Did you visit the Harbour while you were in Southwold (Inlet between Southwold and Walberswick) 1001 shots waiting to be captured. Re beach huts, one was up for sale in 2018 for 150k !!!!!!!!
@@LynneLuxonJonesphotography I took one of my 2 all time favorite pictures in the Harbour (Sole Bay Fish Co and Southwold Smokehouse buildings) but they have now ruined the look of them by adding awnings etc for outside dining :-( Yes 150k for a hut and you're not even allowed to spend the night !!
You are not the only one who struggles with grey. I think we all do, but my being a weirdo love it. I liked the photos very much, even with long exposure. I think you could make a project of photographing the tide markers. They all seem different with their own characters. I love photographing cooling towers, but they have nearly all been pulled down, sadly. One technique you could try is using the HDR function of the Nikon to try and get a smooth water. You need to find the base exposure but I think you will work it out in no time. It might even give you a bit more latitude in dynamic range. Ordinarily I avoid HDR, as the results often seem unnatural, but it is worth a try. And in conclusion, please do not set your Kelvin @ 200. It is 73 degrees below absolute zero. What are you trying to do dear lady, bring the universe to a halt? I am joking of course. Take care.
Yup, 200k would've been quite something lansman ....I think it was tiredness 😁 I'll have a look at the hdr function & maybe play a bit at some point 👍😁
My oh my what a glorious show, struggle or not. It didn't show and I won't be the only one to say that the classiness just shone through even if the sun didn't 🙏🙏🙏

I wish Ian, I struggle to relax & switch off ...so many places to visit 👍👍
After 5 days of getting up at 3am without any colour in the skies i would have thrown all the teddies out of the cot. As always you have still returned some lovely images. thank you for sharing,
looking forward to next weeks adventure.
It very nearly came to that stu ...I need to find me some color 😁👍
5 days of 3am starts...brave lady you are. Enjoyed this video and loved the first image and the last image the most. What a great looking beach.
Thanks Susan, brave or daft ? The jury is still out on that one 😅
thank you for another fun Sunday at the beach Lynne
Thanks Jie, glad you enjoyed it 👍😊
Lovely photos Lynne. Nice work.👍👍
Thank you Jacques, much appreciated 😊👍
Love that last image. Thanks for sharing
Cheers Tony, appreciate you dropping in 👍😊
Another high standard video Lynne. Loved the images
Very kind of you to say Jim ,thank you so much 😊😊

A healthy dose of daftness helps out with summer sunrises Gary 😁😁
Dunkin and I are enjoying your video this Sunday morning, grey can be a good thing as always awesome images "Oh did I say hello Lynne" ...
Well Hello Bob 👋, I feeling hungry now you've mentioned dunkin...😁😊

oh yes brilliant Lynne, great location and just loved those serene images
Definitely a location with plenty of potential Jim....going to order a colorful sky when I revisit 😁👍

Thanks Karen, appreciate you popping in 👍😊
As someone who ives in a equatorial country where blue hour and golden hour are less than ten minutes, I envy your relaxed pace of working.
Oh crikey Brandizen, thats short 😵
Grey Seems a bit of a Theme with your Lynne, what a wonderful Location, Brilliant potential under great Lighting but the conditions are not in your favour! Iconic coast location is correct!
Of yes, Queen of grey I think Tony ,really need an injection of color ASAP so if you see some can you send it over here please 🙏😀

Oh yes Jim, I'm hunting down some colorful skies, need an injection of color for sure. No success as yet though 😕

I've decided I will return at some pointbDes, when there's the promise of some color kn that sky 😊😊
Lynne thank you for the heads up on kelvin an a 10 stop ...
Happy to help Bob, might be different for different brands but certainly works with LEE filters 👍
I especially liked the one with a bit of movement at the end. My Nikon Z7 died this week. She’s off back to Nikon, to see what the problem is. Good job I still have my trusty old D700, she’s never let me down. 😔
Oh no, that's not good Sheila ,fingers crossed Nikon sort her out pronto 👍
I've still got my d7200 ,just in case 😊

I guess it shows that I've learnt to accept & work with what I'm given Colin ...a few years back I'd have just stayed in bed & been grumpy 😅

Great images once again Lynne. For a newbie, why did you get a blue colour cast at 5880 Kelvin?

Ha, funny was not quite what I called it at the time Ian 😁 but I guess what doesn't kill me makes me stronger 😊👍
Did you visit the Harbour while you were in Southwold (Inlet between Southwold and Walberswick) 1001 shots waiting to be captured. Re beach huts, one was up for sale in 2018 for 150k !!!!!!!!
Not on this visit nigel but it's earmarked for a return as looks rather interesting 👍 150k for a beach hut ...yea gods ,maybe I'll not bother 😁

Was that something swimming at 12.57? On the tip of your finger going left
Looks like someone swimming!
@@davidletz9123 yes. I was hoping it was more exotic but I think it’s a man swimming
Yup, it was some nutter having an early morning swim ...brrrrr😳
Top work in those grey conditions mate. For some reason I was un-subbed which is ok coz now I can sub again.
No worries Paul, thanks for the re-sub x

I like the ones with a little movement more, I have to say. But I may be in a minority.
I'm with you arcanics, I'm being drawn more towards the shorter long exposures recently 😊😊
