I actually enjoyed the Archie supers in the DCU. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one who read and enjoyed those issues, but they always made me feel like the Archie supers really fit into the DCU.
I’ve been fascinated by the red circle characters ever since I saw them in an advertisement in some magazine in the 80s. It’s a damn that their appearance in the DC universe was so short-lived. Either way this is a great video. Cheers.
Yeah, I think the characters had potential but it probably didn't help most didn't know who they were. Maybe if SHIELD joined the JSA or someone got a more meaningful appearance in another book save a couple one panel cameos, or a guest appearance in a book no one was reading either.
In 2009 to 2010 I have lot of red circle : the Shield, The web and mighty crusaders, it is versión of future comics. More cameo of héroes famous the Shield meets Magog,The Flash, Russian amor to The Fox, the web meets Batgirl. I love team mighty crusaders as twilight zone war.
I have lot of the shield, the web, the black hood, Jaguar, the comet, the Fly of Impact comics, it was nostalgy of my teenager, they are famous héroes of 1990's.
I have always enjoyed the Archies heroes , my fave was the Impact line but the Red Circle version of The Web was outstanding. I do think DC should give them another go
In theory I do too, but it is harder now than ever for a second tier character to get any kind of focused series or even mini-series. So I got a feeling if they did they would just be more second or third string heroes fighting for any kind of spotlight.
My first contact with the Archie Super-Heroes was The Impact imprint. Didn't really click, but the next attempt by DC (2009) was spectacular. I loved it. I'm just re-reading these books now, and I wish these characters (and the Red Circle imprint) were still alive and kicking with the DC proper. I'd have followed every one of them. They are sorely missed.
As far as I know unless it just happened Archie still owns them. Both times DC used the characters they licensed them, they have never actually owned them. Again, unless that is something that just happened real recently.
I have always enjoyed the Archie SH characters since discovering them in the 80s. I did like the Impact line fro DC. However since I can no longer afford to buy new comic regularly I had been unaware of the newer DC attempt with these guys. Now I will have to try to find back issues of them.🐒
I hope I'm in a position to read these comics the next time they relaunch!! Maybe they should drop a top notch tangable encyclopedias of MLJ before the next run, as well as updating all digital sites.... And I know this company has money so maybe Might Crusaders Animated Show.
The best window for something like that might have closed with networks, cable channels and even streaming cutting down on original programming. But a Mighty Crusafters Animated Series is a decent idea for sure :)
It could be an option for Netflix to licence these characters since they no longer produce Marvel programs. There was a Punisher / Archie team-up some years back.
My guess would be that if they did that, then if they wanted to reprint them if/when their license with Archie ended it would be difficult if not impossible. So they probably wanted to at least wait until they knew if the comics were going to go over well with fans before having them join a superhero team or the like. It was good he at least got to team up with them before the experiment ended.
WOW.I remember IMPACT COMICS!!!! LOL.😊😊I bought and read the SHIELD,JAGUAR,the FLY and MIGHTY CRUSADERS!! What a line-up,now I don't much read nor buy modern comics, nothing really GRABs and HOLDs my attention anymore.
There are still good modern comics. Should be noted while Impact was a lot of fun, this video was about their second attempt to use the characters after Impact. Not about Impact Comics.
I am no copywrite lawyer. But the copywites don't expire until I think it's 95 years after publication. So you can't just decide to use it. You could but the characters from Archie in theory, but assuming they wouldn't do that cheap, or at all. lol.
I never really read the comics but I came into possession of the full run of the Who's Who issues they did for them (full-on loose leaf format) and there look to be some good characters there, they just really need a break.
The Who's Who you are reffering too (unless they did loose leaf who's who pages in the 2000's which I am pretty sure they didn't) are from Archie's Impact! comics line, which was the original attempt by DC to use these characters. This video talks about their second attempt which was much less successful but in my opinion much more interesting, and produced better stories in it's short time with DC.
@@dantheman8103 Yeah, that is the one. Sorry if I was unclear. It was back when DC was doing all their Who's Who books that way. I got the whole set of the DC run and the Impact! run.

Personally now that the Arrow verse is more than likely over except for Superman and Lois wish I guest will be moving to HBO Max after season 3 with Stargirl and The Flash will be ending with season 9 then CW should start producing shows based on the Archie superheroes instead and connect them to Riverdale especially now that Archie and the gang have powers now it could be call the Riververse.
I think it would be wise for Warner Brothers Discovery to buy Archie Comics. Riverdale has been a successful show and the Red Circle superheroes have a history with DC so it makes sense. Plus, this would give WBD more scale and content.
@@dantheman8103 This is true. However, the eventual plan is for WBD to merge either with Paramount Global or NBCUniversal because WBD lacks enough scale to compete well with Disney and Netflix.
@@josephbrown6906 They shouldn't. Warner Brothers had the largest TV and Movie library of anyone including DIsney even after the FOX merger. I'm honestly more than tired of DC trying to force other companies into their universe. Let them be their own thing. When you have superman you don't need 8 other super man analogues from other universes also existing. It also is harder to let the heros stand out or take an important place in the universe.
I do agree especially now, it is too hard to have anyone who isn't one of the big 7 carry a book for long, so the last thing DC needs is more heroes absorbed. Although I think they are mostly done with that these days. I mean, who would they even absorb at this point?
@@dantheman8103 give them time. There will be new universes. Maybe they'll buy malibu from marvel. But yeah they've absorbed practically everyone. I really think wildstorm was the camel that broke the proverbial back.

Archie has had something of a renisance but even today and especially before Riverdale a lot of people, even comic fans, didn't now Archie still published comics. I think Milestone, especially Static have a chance, but it took decades and a popular animated series to get him to that chance. As you said, just so many characters. Also doesn't help that no DC has a much smaller number of monthly books giving everyone not in the JLA less slots to fight for.
It feels like DC comics really wants to buy the MLJ superheroes and make them a big part of the DC universe but won't due to them being licensed. Marvel will never ever touch them as they already created rip-offs and popularized them to the max. If I were in charge of DC comics, I'd deal with Archie comics and try to buy the MLJ superheroes from them as these original characters have potential to make money.
