Ok, so let's recap. In the span of 10 days, Zain has:
-Gotten sniped by a smurfing ONIN and introduced the hard way to the endless bag of Minecraft Steve's tricks and antics.
-Been timed out by SONIX online and experimented the frustration of fighting the blue ball you cant catch.
-Fought against MKLEO's Joker and gotten 0-to-death by him.
-Been hit by "AAAAH, TOO MUCH MAGIC", courtesy of SPARG0.
-Been JV4'd by MAISTER's Game and Watch.
Guys, we need to have some mercy on the man here, or he's not gonna make it to the 90 days deadline with his sanity intact...

I applaud Zain for being able to put up with not only the no3 ultimate player in the world, but the one that uses Sonic and can go from absolutely balls to the wall aggressive, to turtle crawl campy in seconds.

In Ultimate, you either get blitzed and don't get to play the game, or you get camped out and forced to play the game longer lol

Yea sonix goes from my favorite player to my least favorite player in an instant lmao. Though usually most of the matchups he players are on the aggressive side so it averages out cool.

My man signed up for this and got absolutely DROPPED into the deep end. It has been very entertaining watching this as an ultimate player, knowing the type of bs that happens in this game, and watching someone who has never it before go through the stages of grief
Man I didn't know Zain was so charismatic. I stopped watching Melee content a while ago so I really only knew Zain by name. But he's a very entertaining streamer. I am really enjoying this Ultimate videos.
You should watch some of his combo videos or tournament sets. He is the best Marth in melee history some of the stuff he does is mind boggling
Why'd you stop following melee? Did you end up falling more in love with ultimate and just kind of left it behind? It was the opposite for me, but now I'm starting to watch more ultimate stuff thanks to Zain making the cross-over. Come hop back over and dip your toes in, Golden Guardians (RIP) made a bunch of great melee content in their time, probably the best smash content on youtube. Really wish they covered both games and were still around.

Watching the learning curve that Zain is dealing with really gives me a lot more respect for the other melee pros that are able to do well in ultimate. Hbox, Mango and Leffen all make it look like it’s an easy transition but watching Zain start from scratch really gives perspective.
I fucking love Sonix for making sure the first match against Zain is *basically* a time out, it's a nice little self aware jokey introduction to the character before playing Zain in a more normal fashion
funny to see other comments here acting like Sonix was timing him out because he wanted to "tryhard" or something, he's clearly capable of 3-stocking Zain in under 2m, he was obviously just doing it for the bit
@@ibrahimbeats Yeah, it's baffling to me that people genuinely can't tell at all that Sonix played differently each game 1) to drive a point home that "I can win in any way that I want, at any given moment I can choose to end your stock, time you out and run circles around you, 3-stock you with your own character, cheese you offstage, win neutral over and over, or kick your ass with or without using spindash", 2) to entertain his Twitch chat (who requested the no-spindash challenge), and 3) just to fuck around and have fun. It's, like, glaringly obvious to anyone with eyeballs, but maybe Melee players just don't? The vast majority of comments seriously seem to think Sonix camped because he was tryharding, as though that wasn't literally the bit, and he was obviously fucking with Zain.
@@lurrielee2755a lot of melee players dont watch ult like, at all. when i didnt watch melee, i found it really difficult to distinguish between the playstyles of people who play the same character, even if its a lot more clear to me now. give em a break man.

i always find it funny how in every game sonic players think he's low tier for the first half of the game's lifespan as they try to play him how the devs intended. But then they figure out that camping is just better so then he becomes top 10.

@@vegetaroronoa2660 It's the compounding of his speed allowing him to outmaneuver other characters due to the lack of strong universal movement tech, his ball moves that encourage a more "random" playstyle, and solid combos. To rework all of that is to rework the entire character from the ground up, which unfortunately wouldn't leave him with very many things that resemble sonic. The character just sucks the fun out of top level play, and we're very lucky the melee dev team didn't have the time to put him in lol.

well Sonix is camping Zain here because its funny, but Sonix is pretty mixed playstyle wise, it depends on the matchup you gotta remember theres 80 characters in this game, some he can rush down, some its safest to camp

@@Kitanda I really do wonder if Sonix is actually having fun during these matches. Just like Steve players, sonic players don't know how to play the game. They learn one very specific way to play the game and then main the character. If Sonic or Steve mains tried to play any other character, they would fail because they just either camp someone out or spam up-tilt until it hits and then get's a free kill.

I am a fan of both melee and ultimate and would love to see Zain improve in ultimate. I do think if Zain wants to get better at the game and make great content out of it he should be contacting Larry Lurr, the man is both knowledgeable and respected across multiple Smash games.

But online he's literally the best character in the game, better than Steve. He's too fast, you can't react to him with 10 fucking frames of input delay

Steve is way better than Sonic online.
You can react to minecart offline but can't online.
You can't react to spindash release offline or online.
Sonic loses trades while Steve wins trades requiring more precision against Steve.
Sonic is a whiff punish character that requires edgeguarding for kills. Both of which are way harder online.

Zain asked so many questions that no one can answer in this video. Why does Sonic?
Not that I could beat sonix (I can’t), but when I go up against sonic players my game plan is (unfortunately): since I also play a fast character I absolutely camp out Sonic’s spin dash and condition the sonic player to cancel out of it repeatedly and mix up my approaches to surprise the sonic player by actually approaching. Obviously in practice it’s more nuanced than that, but that at a high level has won me sets against multiple sonic players in bracket
