Dalton is being victimised for voicing his opinions about how he felt he was treated, I doubt he was expecting the kind of welcome that Buju received but it would have been nice to have been acknowledged when he returned. He never gave Jamaica or Jamaicans a bad name when he was in the UK, he represented the country well. And made all us UK black people extremely proud. I don't usually comment on issues on social media,however, I have to on this occasion. First think first, Buju is one of my all time favourite artists, and I mean worldwide. I also think Dalton Harris is one of the best vocalist I have ever heard. With that said, I think a lot of people are too emotional in their views. He was speaking facts. Regardless of the fact that Buju is an ICON in the reggae world , this youth left his small country and entered a competition where he defeated his opponents. He was not only seen as a individual representing himself but also his country. Because people might judge his sexuality it does not take away the fact that he is very talented. We should not define a person because of their sexuality, ethnicity, religion etc. I can't even imagine how he must have felt being shunned by his own country. He was only making reference to the fact that a Jamaican was arrested, charged and convicted for a crime in another country, which, if committed in Jamaica, the same would happen. He won a competition ( again putting Jamaica on the map) and had to hide to enter his own country because of people's perception. I would like to think that we are bigger than that in 2020. Think critically, his utterance was not about the Gagamel, it was about how he was ostracized for winning a talent contest. Come on people, its time we stop tearing down each other. A couple of points, Firstly Buju is of Jamaica for Jamaica with 30 years in the music industry, an ambassador for reggae music, w ith umpteen albums under his belt, he has earned the respect he deserves.
