Really interesting local history information. The old pub looks as though it may have been on the corner of demolished streets? My dad came from Century Road, a short walk away. He told me the nickname for the Bath tavern was 'the blood tub', enough to put you off going in. Weather that nickname was for the old pub or the new I don't know, but maybe for both.
@@tonywolton the old pub was on the corner of Bath Road and Belgrave Road, the latter was severely damaged in the 1933 Explosion of the peppermint distillery. This led to the demolition of this neighborhood of 'Rocky'.
Used to drink in there. It was my local. Me and my mates Reggie James Georgie Burge Dave Bushaway.

The nickname I heard was "The Blood Bath".
@@PaulDear-jb2bu my dad used to tell me that the Fountain pub was called the Blood Tub, due to the frequent fights.
Was that the Fountain Pub in Fountain Road off Garratt Lane, Tooting?
@mickeydodds1 no. The Bath Tavern was in Haslemere Avenue, Mitcham. I think I recall the Fountain you mention. Was it across the road from Elites?
I had left Mitcham before these events happened. Will look on the map for Hazelmere Avenue to see where it was! Thanks!
Great video. Would have liked to know a bit more about the shooting and the aquital…..
