Don't twist my words means don't misinterpret what I said or don't change the meaning of what I said into something else. But don't put words in my mouth means don't fabricate something I didn't say. The difference is to twist the words of someone is to misunderstand their words or to misinterpret it. But to put words in someone's mouth is to claim that they said something they actually never did.
