I really enjoyed this vid, wish you would have showed going back downstream.

The going downstream is just popping over the beaver dam, dodging the trees and hoping you don't hit the rocks on the way through. The rocks are just under water level and really hard to see in the dark water. You don't really run the motor hard, just use it to steer clear of obstacles going down stream through there.
Where the mud motor shines is where there's just enough water to float the boat and in mud or weeds. It just goes though that stuff like it wasn't there and that's where you would be constantly stuck or taking weeds out of an outboard prop.

It sure beats portaging! What kind of camera and mount are you using mr.archer?

I'm using a Gopro Hero3 Silver with the open back cover so the sound is pretty good but it's not waterproof when used this way.
I'm just using a head strap and as you can see my head is twisted sideways so I'll have to adjust the strap next time.

    What motor?

The motor is a 5.5 HP Honda I had laying around. It's go quite a few hours on it turning an alternator and I can hear the bearings on the crank so it's on its last legs. I'll be putting a 6.5 HP Lifan on it next spring.

archertwo I’ve just picked up a 1436 tracker jon boat. I’ll mostly be running it lakes and not really swift rivers. I’m looking for your opinion about motor sizes you would you put on the boat. It says max hp is 15. So I could go from 6.5 to the 13hp. Also, are those floatation pods you have on the back of your boat?

Josh, my boat is a 1236 LOWE jon boat. I just wanted flotation for shallow marshy areas and have no need for speed while trapping or fishing.
It all depends on what you will be using the boat for but if I was you I'd go with the 13HP for that size boat and what you will be running it in but I'm not you so you have to do what you think is best for you.
Yes, those are flotation pods I had made to aid in balancing the boat when I was stretched out putting traps in the water and for a place to put my knee on when getting into the boat when in waist deep water. It also helps a lot with the extra flotation when in water just a few inches deep and you can get on plane easier as well..
