Part 1. The Netherlands Antilles
In the first part you see someone head towards Sebastopol street in Otrobanda, Willemstad.
There is some drone footag. The narrator enters a second hand bookstore where finds the book that is the subject of this video
In the second part the book is read out loud.
There are Dutch and English subtitles. Click cc on the video in RUclips to access these.
In the third part the bookstore is exited and there is drone footage of Willemstad.
There is a short biography of the artist Jo Spier.

Hi, leuke video. Weet u waarom Jo Spier in 1947 hier was? Heeft hij hier na de kampen gewoont of was hij op vakantie?

Voor zover ik weet heeft Jo Spier niet op Curaçao gewoond.
Ik vermoed dat hij in opdracht van uitgeverij Elsevier hierheen is gestuurd voor het maken van een nieuw boek over de koloniën in "de West".
Jo Spier zou de illustraties verzorgen en Piet Bakker de tekst.
Op 6:25 zie je een zelfportret van Jo Spier in een cabriolet met een chauffeur die hem op Curaçao rondrijdt.
De begeleidende tekst luidt:
"Waarom tekenen in de West zo vreselijk moeilijk is:
Omdat iedereen tegen me zegt:
"Nou breng ik je naar een plek waar je niet gelooft dat je in de West bent".
