I really loved this movie, I loved the characters the most though. I loved Newt so much! He was kind of a new type of lead, it’s been a while sense I’ve seen a main character with something similar to Social Anxiety and Almost Femininity in the way he is able to show so much empathy! But my ultimate favorite may have been Jacob, He was very sweet and was able to be an average guy who’s able to still help the situation and has life goals that aren’t as average as the common goal of money or food, The only character I didn’t like as much was Tina. She was a good character I just didn’t like her as much. I have to say when I watched it again I liked it more because I could notice the smaller moments with credence and foreshadowing at the beginning!
I think Chris slightly over hyped this film, yet it still works pretty damn well as both a film and a spin off to harry potter. Far more satisfying than Cursed Child!
erm what. of course there is. i have no doubt that peoples excitement for a new harry potter-related movie has completely blinded them to how average the movie was. it wasn't bad by any means, but definitely over hyped.
likeastarbaby Films are subjective, actually. So, NOPE, you have no place to say that, in reality. Overhyped movies? Bullshit. Never has ever happened. It only seems that way because you didn't like a film as much as some other people did.

I'd give it a 6/10. i suppose it comes down to what you think makes a film good. is it that people enjoy it no matter the reason why, or is it that its an objectively cinematically good, well thought-out movie? when i was a child i could happily sit and watch adam sandler movies all day, but as i've watched a lot of movies in my lifetime i'm now very sensitive to tired cliches, franchising plugs and awkward storytelling, all of which this movie is FILLED with. it turns me right off to see these things. but if you don't watch a lot of movies you wouldn't even notice.

THANK YOU! While it really was enjoyable all the outstandingly positive reviews make it seem flawless in its narrative. At least Chris points out some of them but honestly I couldn't latch on emotionally as much as I wanted to I will say the beasts they introduce are wonderful tho I wish some were practical fx and I admit it seems a lot like Sorcerers stone in that its story is mostly childish like but the villains were my fav part of this story. I thought Colin Farrell was the best part of this film and Erza Millers character had great backstory so they were the most compelling so obvs the reveal at the end with Grindewald fell really flat to me and I basically felt betrayed. I didnt like Waterson tho I felt she was whiny and I know she is supposed to be timid but it felt like over acting. Again it is not at all a horrible movie and still retains the magic that is in this universe but the hero characters besides Kowalski weren't as awesome as I wanted them to be. There is room for improvement even tho it was entertaining and the villain was menacing so I hope the sequels build and mature the way the potter series did and I can imagine this story being much more epic. Cody Brown Thematically the romance ties into the theme of the film which is that separating the muggle and wizard worlds in some areas does more harm than good.
kaitlin_08 I meant this one was particularly dark. Like, real world problems dark. Child abuse, essentially wizard euthanasia, soul sucking factory work, etc.
What I loved so much about Fantastic Beasts is the balance between things we know of from Harry Potter and new things! This movie warmed my Potterhead-heart :')
What I really liked from David Yates was The Legend of Tarzan, it was a really good movie but had only the potential to be great. A lot of movies today has lost sense of the heroic figure, and Tarzan has always been an iconic hero figure in film. He deserves a strong comeback, and that actor who portrayed him is the perfect Tarzan just as Henry Cavill is today's perfect Superman...
This had too little effect on the main Harry Potter series. Although it was cool having Grindelwald react to the mention of name of Albus Dumbledore. It's that one little easter egg that got me so excited about the universe again. This movie got me wondering more than I expected. So much has to be explained after this. I wish Newt would have said more words. I was sort of underwhelmed by the Newt character though. Yeah, he's in a relationship with a relative of one of the characters in the main series. The good bits were with Colin Farrell and Ezra Miller. They could've explained the main monster a bit more and put it more in the context of a "fantastic beast" so it would be at least a little bit more connected to Newt. This movie definitely expanded the universe a lot more despite the fact that they hardly mentioned anything of the of the rest of the universe other than Grindelwald attacking Europe. Again, this movie has a lot to explain. When exactly did Grindelwald steal the Elder Wand? Why wasn't he using the Elder Wand during Fantastic Beasts? Will we see the Legendary Duel between Albus and Grindelwald? Why did Gellert look so young when he stole the Wand from Gregorovitch why why wasn't he using it during the events of Fantastic Beasts? This is really confusing. I really hope we're following the story of Grindelwald instead of Newt. To be honest, Newt is an overall boring character. I was more interested in Grindelwald and Credence. They could've gone without Madame President. I was really hoping they'd make a Hippogriff easter egg since Hippogriffs are indeed misunderstood creatures. Overall, I like the story. I love the setting. I like the build up to the next movie. If you're a true Harry Potter fan, you would definitely enjoy this. If you like critiquing films, this is a pretty good film.
What I really admired, and wished they touched more on, was Newt's distance to others. He was more closer, and pretty much a parent to the beasts, because he's afraid of having relationships with people. He had his heart broken at Hogwarts, and he lost someone so young that he cared for.
This might be the first prequel that's just as good as the original. So many prequels get hate like the Star Wars prequels and The Hobbit Trilogy but that -A rating gives me hope.
It's clear you've never seen the film. That's the plot the trailers show. They don't show what happens in the third act. The film has far more of a plot than the first Harry Potter film that can be summarised as "boy finds out he's a wizard, goes to school, and saves a stone from an evil wizard." Everything else is just filler - that doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable. Simple being in this world and seeing the magic of it is fantastic.
Rahul Chaudhary How is any of what you just mentioned plot? They're characters. And there are characters in this too, and they're interesting too. I absolutely love the main 4 along with Creedence and "Graves". Everything you're stating is simply up to opinion - I marvelled at all the magic and was interested in the characters and plot. And this film had two very unpredictable twists. The second salamers were a continued presence throughout the film, and Creedence is hardly a "boss fight." He's by far the most sympathetic villain in the HP universe yet, and his story is sad because the situation didn't have to end the way it did. Obscurus' cause damage but aren't difficult to destroy - the issue is that Newt didn't want to. And "Graves" was ultimately one man who wasn't difficult to take down. This to me was nothing like a cliche end-of-the-world conclusion - it was a natural conclusion of the events preceding it that ended up telling us a lot about the lead characters. Seriously, this movie is basically Jacob discovering magic and going on an adventure. Which is the greatest thing ever. This movie didn't need high stakes - that will come later once Grindelwald becomes more powerful.
Philosopher's Stone: A Chamber of Secrets: A Prisoner of Azkaban: A+ The Goblet of Fire: A Order of the Phoenix: A Half-Blood Prince: A Hallows Part 1: A Hallows Part 2: A+ Fantastic Beasts: A
"Pretty much every remake, reboot, spinoff, sequel, prequel, whatever; they all have ties to the other things that we like, and some of them do it way too much. *Cough*, "Ghostbusters". Great review, Chris. I was impressed with this movie, too.
I saw Fastastic Beasts today and I loved it! Every character is great, there isn't a character that seems out of place (my pet peeve). I find myself laughing out loud spontenously because i really enjoyed this movie. Depp is really sinister in the end... and i love it!
you know out of all the movie review guys, you seem less saturated with ego. genuine reviews you have. straight to the point, and perspective through the eyes of the many beyond yourself subscribed
I really enjoyed the movie and I can't wait to see the sequels. I love the charaters, the world. We all know that Dumbledore and Grindelwald is coming in the upcoming movies, I'm so excited to see their story. Thanks J.K. for writing this.
I enjoyed the movie. Its nice to be back in this wizarding world, although it isn't the same with out the characters and locations we love. It was overall enjoyable, not fantastic (pun intended), but I feel like it did set up nicely for more movies. Im excited for the future installments. Especially since Grindelwald seems to be the Magneto of this universe. I hope they go the Magneto route because that sound really interesting and could mean super high stakes.
Ella Gibson The necklacs with the deathly hallows symbol, most likely. I kinda like how they didn't do a close up of it, and the only reason I looked for it was because it's on Graves' character poster, which is by far the dumbest thing about this movie
Since the start of the movie heavily implied Grindelwald's presence in the film and with any knowledge of the HP backstory it essentially revealed his true nature.
A see a lot of people in the comments that are saying Chris is scoring this to high. Or they're saying this film disappointed them. But why? nobody's explaining why. i think this movie is great and people just want to hate it because hating prequels is just so cool nowadays.
My main issue with this movie is that it lost something, by not being in England, but i can't explain myself very well, it looks a bit washed down, not sure this is the right word tho.
"This is the ninth film in the Harry Potter Universe and they're still good...That is amazing!"Well, thank David Yates, who has been the director of every potter film since The Order of the Phoenix. No doubt he is a credit to the quality of this film series.
I absolutely loved this movie. Im a huge Potter fan and this is one of my favorites. Loved most of the characters and the time period is intriguing as well.
+Zachary Schreiber No romantic chemistry or development between the two main characters as well. The emotional scene near the end felt so random. Like what romantic hints were there that lead to this scene?
You are definitely in the minority there. The story, characters, performances, and world building were all absolutely wonderful. It crafted one of the most magical cinematic experiences of the year.
Have to say thanks Chris for being so refreshingly positive about this movie. Ever since I saw this film a few days ago (which I totally loved by the way!), I've been disappointed by the number of negative reviews I've found on RUclips from die-hard Potter fans. Bizarrely they almost always start by saying how much they enjoyed the film, then proceed to dissect and criticise almost every part!!
I haven't seen this yet but I feel like it'll try to hard to set up another franchise, instead of making it's own good stand alone story which they can add on too later if they have more to tell
Elijah Cassidy nope i saw it and it definitely finished its story It could have been the only movie in the series and youd believe it but im glad there will be more
Luca Leone I agree. If they decided to not do a sequel (which is sad) it can totally end that way. I especially liked the way they ended it with the leading cast, which for me again would be good enough and sweet as it is, but I honestly want to know more about what would happen. I think this is their chance to redeem themselves for not successfully building up the Ginny-Harry romance so I'm just really excited.
Elijah Cassidy for me it was the opposite, I don't see how there could be any sequels. The story was so tightly wrapped up (albeit with a somewhat bittersweet ending), don't see how it could continue
Yeah, I saw that review. But I'm just referring to the grade "E". Like he has never chosen that grade for movie. It's either an F or like D+ or D-. What's the matter? I think some movies that he rated "F" don't deserve that awful grade, an E maybe, but F is really strong.
He is using a school grading system. In school there is no such thing as an "E" grade. If Chris wanted to use a DDR grading system he would have given Shut In an E.
Nick Johnson ryan8031 in my school we use E instead of F but they are the same thing just different letters in the context of the grading system. But every school before this one we used F.
Welcome to Hollywood 101 Today. If you would see a good movie, watch Westworld. Great series, well directed, stunning visuals, great acting, brilliant direction, no exposition, no spoonfeeding of audience. What is there not to like?
I just watched Fantastic beasts with my brother today and it was amazing!!! Good solid story, great characters, brilliant action magic scenes that were so flawlessly done and incorporated the magical element so well that i was captured by it. And the design on the beasts and that are so beautiful and gorgeous that i was brought back to my childhood again. My small nitpicks are that some scenes felt like they were only there just to give away some exposition like with Tina barging into the madame president's office to tell them of Newt's crime felt like it was only there to say she wasn't an auror. The other nitpick is one my brother noticed, the two brothers of the newspaper firm seemed like they would have a conflict set up but then got dropped halfway with one of their deaths.
This movie takes place in the mid 1920's, right? And the American Wizarding world is led by a Black woman as their President, right? So what the hell were the Black magical community doing while their Muggle counterparts were suffering throughout America? It took Muggle America another 80 years to elect a Black President! *>:(*
(Anyway, the movie's a lot of fun, but...as a "Secret-Magical-World-Within-Ours" kinda movie? _Doctor Strange_ is obviously the better film of the two)
After watching this twice (the first time I fell asleep as I had watched dr strange earlier in the day) I have to conclude that the first act of this movie has pacing problems. I had no problem staying awake but suddenly just getting through the introduction of all of the characters and world building affected me in a way no other film did. Maybe it was bc the first scene was fast paced and then suddenly dies down. Either way, once they get to the second act (want to avoid spoilers here) everything is smooth. Very much appreciate that very little is really revealed in this film. I'm not exactly sure what is going on and how 4 more movies will be made, and there are more questions than answers, but the film doesn't require that you know these answers to enjoy the movie and the plot. Also, the plot seems self-contained, unlike other remake/sequels (cough cough TFA) where it ends on a cliffhanger.
Mostly the long drawn-out ending and pointless Grindlewald cameo. Then again I was in a super crowed theatre, and robably missed a lot info, so I could be wrong.
This wasn't a setup film at all. Yes, there are sprinkles of things that we definitely could see explored more in the next films such as Newts past, Grindelwalds takeover, or exploring other Wizarding countries besides America. But otherwise, this felt like a standalone film to the end
Connor Nyhan I felt like the long drawn out ending was there to wrap everything up. Not to set up the next movie. Grindlewald was the only part I thought could be a setup, but they still capture and defeat him.
Totally agree, that super odd-super quick messy edit between Tina & Newt always confuses me! But I love FB as well and cannot wait for the second one!!
No, and also they're the only to readable books. At least by that point, Rowling still showed a little bit of creativity (even though HP 1 is at least a ripoff of Neil Gaiman's Books of Magic, not to mention ALL chosen one stories every written) . After that, it's all downhill trash. The same with the movies, of course.
Yo Chris, I just watched "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" and I think you fanboyed very hard on this movie. There are so many plot holes and logic hiccups you didn't mention. Also stuff you criticized in other films, you seem to overlock here. I really enjoyed the HP series (some more and some less ofc), but this film is just not nearly living up to your score in my opinion.
+SmokedFalafels Google 'jk rowling on how to pronounce her name' and watch the first link (an interview with the guardian) if you don't believe me, as you won't.
Spoiler:At the end Batman blames himself for the fantastic beast outbreak and runs into the night

Chris Stuckmann: Fantastic Reviews and Where to Find Them
I wonder how WB can make an awesome Harry Potter world in the movie but still struggling with the DCEU.
They give HP universe's team WAY more freedom than they do to the DCEU team
WB does not mess up with the Harry Potter film editing.
Most Warner Bros Projects are amazing when they give creative freedom to their Team and Directors
DCEU's MAIN PROBLEM IS THAT THEY JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF IT WITHOUT QUALITY
Humam Eastrawan They don't mess up with JKR. They trust her, and why shouldn't they? She's the most successful writer EVER. Can't say the same about Snyder...
I really hope WB doesn't mess up with WW. Petty Jenkins is good director.
So it's basically the Harry Potter version of PokemonGo?
How?
Demon Rantz it's just a joke.
I.M. O. Ah I didn't understand
did you ever play any pokemon game?
***** yeah, still playing it although not as much as when it was released.
The score was really great too. You could hear some subtle HP notes in there, but it stands on its own really nicely.
Ben Holden I know! I have the CD of the score and it's very fun to listen to. Always gets me excited.
I think A- is the score Chris has used the most this year lol
Han Solo go back to the grave your time was up a long time ago...

Last time I was this early, JK Rowling wrote Harry Potter on a napkin.
How's your Bakery, Jakob?
Full of Coolness ? ^^'

Jakob Kolness last time I was this early Chris still was..........wait, I'm not early.
JK Rowling Never disappoints, she deserves all the success she has!
the cursed child disagrees with this
+jalledebest No! Cursed child was actually good!
The script book? absolutely not. It's one of the worst fanfiction like stories i've ever read. Totally doesn't fit the series and the plot is just stupid. Can't say anything about the play, because after reading this I'm never going to see it, but i assume it has the same awfull story.
He gets it
She did not write it just gave the ok!
I would have caught those beasts so much faster.
Love the movie though!
Ash Ketchum First you have to win a LEAGUE!
Ash Ketchum cringe
Win The League First
He won the Orange league and beat the Kanto Battle Frontier. And since the Alola League victory is a bigger deal this time, he'll probably win it too.
You want to be the very best.
But you are not dude.
I thought HP ended for me in 2011, but this film pulled me back in. I like how there's no HP related in the movie, it's a fresh start.
I was about to sleep until I saw this. Priorities.
Same! >_

You didn't even praise the best performance in this movie from Ezra Miller. He is so good
Colin Farrell has the best performance imo, but Erza is a close second.
Maxi Iroh you mean Johnny depp *pun intended*
Bravonanda Moirangthem The character might be the same, but the actors aren't, so no.
also Depp sucks
Love him!

i call it "Steve Irwin: The Magic Story"
Oh. The final FBAWTFT movie is going to be sad.
Lmao I saw Bindi Erwin when I went to see this film.
I think Chris slightly over hyped this film, yet it still works pretty damn well as both a film and a spin off to harry potter. Far more satisfying than Cursed Child!
Overhyped? There's no such thing as overhyping a film if one truly believes it is that good...

TheHalomaster256 was anyone super thrown off by the terrible cgi and green screens.
please do a SPOILER REVIEW
So many links to the original series that Stuckman has no idea about :P Check out the Fantastic Beasts wiki page!
Do you mean plot holes or plot twists ?
Okay, but can we talk about Ezra Miller's performance?? He was incredible!!
probably the best character, wish there was more screen time. Hopefully he is in the next one.
jeffrey agatep hmmm is he? ^^
I saw an article today that confirms he will be!
They did show that shot of his "obscurous" after the fight. He'll be back.
Laura Ashley Thomson I love Ezra Miller and had forgotten he was going to be in this movie I was soooo happy, I loved him in it
Hogwarts hasn't update it's textbook in 70 years?
that book was probably the first update Hogwarts has had since the founding of the school XD
Again, stupid writer, stupid wizards, stupid plotholes for the sake of making things easier for stupid writer.

I actually really enjoyed this movie! I felt like it was complex and well acted and well directed! The Harry Potter universe has been revived for me!
I loved this movie, I think it was a great return to the wizarding world. And I think newt might be my new favorite character.
I agree! :-)
He's such a lovable dork :3
Before I saw the name in writing, I always heard "Nudes Commander". On the other hand, I am not a native english speaker, so I guess it's my bad. Still funny though.

I’m glad other people liked it👍🏻 unfortunately for me it was boring and tough to force myself to get through 😢 oh well I’m glad other fans enjoyed it 😁
but they did sneaky in references to the other movies....
The one guy had the Deathly Hallows Pendant
Newt's school friend is related to Bellatrix Lestrange
and (SPOILER)
The Main villain is the guy Dumbldore fought for control of the Elder Wand
The TM Network but they don't rely on it. Very lightly referenced. None of them had any effect on the plot.
I think it's more world building though, it'll play into the plot in the later films
Review all Tarantino movies!!!
They all suck though
I like chicken
oh no you didn't
You must hate great films....I'm so sorry for you :'(

Newt reminds me of the 11th doctor.
He *should* be Doctor Who IMO!
Can you review Avatar The Last Airbender cartoon?

I second this

Damn right! The concept isn't that bad. The problem is, that the movie itself is weak, despite having interesting characters
Henry Garcia Why you act like you could not possibly find someone say something bad?
Cody Brown Thematically the romance ties into the theme of the film which is that separating the muggle and wizard worlds in some areas does more harm than good.
That "comic relief" guy was my favorite character of the movie!
I loved this movie, didn't expect it to be so dark though cause, holy shit, it got dark for a Harry Potter film
Drake Cutrer
It's not a Harry Potter film.
Arsenal2099 it is within the same universe, therefore I consider it one.
Drake Cutrer prisoner of azkaban was dark! actually most HP films were dark.
Drake Cutrer they were all dark what are you talking about 😂
kaitlin_08 I meant this one was particularly dark. Like, real world problems dark. Child abuse, essentially wizard euthanasia, soul sucking factory work, etc.
Have to say, all the Jon Voight stuff was the worst part of the movie. Seemed very rushed and under developed.
Idk, I kinda liked it. I thought it was cool.
the whole movie felt that way except for the beast scenes
This movie was a let down for me. Pacing was really weird for me.
M1K3Mc533 - yeah, David Yates =\
M1K3Mc533 - okay?
M1K3Mc533 - I feel the exact same thing as you man,it was really odd to me,I felt it like if it was never going to end
***** The Legend of Tarzan had the same problems =/
Really wasn't too excited for this movie, but man I ended up absolutely loving it.
Man you and Jeremy are totally opposite on this one... I'm torn about what to expect.
who is jeremy ?
Ava Gasm! JeremyJahns
Joseph Alexander really not A- maybe B-...
Listen to Chris. He knows his stuff :)
He's also a HP fan, unlike Jeremy who is just a critic.
Well Jeremy gave it a B and Chris gave it an A- it's not that "opposite" lol
I've never been a huge fan of the Harry Potter films, but I really liked this one.
Hachiman!
Well it's no wonder if this is a better movie than Harry Potter movies since this isn't an adaption of a book.
I am the opposite, I like the Harry Potter movies, but I am never going to watch these new ones.
Lord Bluimus prequel
Way before Harry or hell, I'd say even his parents weren't conceived yet
Lord Bluimus Spinoff.
If you like critiquing films, this is a pretty good film.
well ya see...there are 4 more movies that will explain a lot of your questions
Joshcoshbagosh that's why i'm excited.
I loved this film. So happy Rowling has found another series to continue
are you and Jeremy Jahns friends or rivals?
frickzjee why would they be rivals?
Jeremy was in one of Chris's vids
frickzjee They are good friends.
Actually they are long lost twins.
They are kinky gay lovers.
Harry Thomas Pictures The hobbit is better than Fantastic beasts.
Surley it can't be THAT BAD.
The Sequel should be called Fantastic Beasts and Where Not to Find Them
moonlight review pls!!
I second that.
kiana third
kiana same i was looking for a review

Best trailer of the year, gave me chills

Lucky you didn`t read the books then.
Lol this review is so different to the second one
They appear one above the other when you type in "Fantastic Beasts review", and the difference in his expressions in the thumbnails says it all. 😂
I heard reports that a fantastic Beast was spotted somewhere in France and they sent Hermione Granger to investibate...
I just realized, if I'm not mistaken, the "I wanna be a wizard" line wasn't in the movie. Sad cause that made me laugh in the trailer.
Dustin Is Here If you search Ilvermorny Song on RUclips you'll find the scene.
you know out of all the movie review guys, you seem less saturated with ego.
genuine reviews you have.

Watched it today. The soundtrack was really cool, sometimes you could hear the original Harry Potter theme slightly playing in the background.
I really enjoyed the movie and I can't wait to see the sequels. I love the charaters, the world. We all know that Dumbledore and Grindelwald is coming in the upcoming movies, I'm so excited to see their story. Thanks J.K. for writing this.
This aged well...
I want a movie about the first Wizard War. That's something we really don't know that much about.
The cast was amazing. Everyone did a great job!
I hope they go the Magneto route because that sound really interesting and could mean super high stakes.
this is good to hear because....
I've never seen a Harry Potter movie...ever 😐
Middle Initial: G My friend enjoyed it emmensely and he has never read or watched HP
Fantastic beasts and their snapped neck.
hahah what? Rated R
hilarious & original
hahah what? Redundant Jokes and Where to Find Them: RUclips.
I love this meme
Exactly what it is guys, a joke. Dont take it so hard.
what was the object that his wife noticed??
Probably the necklace that Graves gave Ezra Miller's character ("Credence").
The one where he could use it to summon Graves if anything went wrong.
Ella Gibson The necklacs with the deathly hallows symbol, most likely. I kinda like how they didn't do a close up of it, and the only reason I looked for it was because it's on Graves' character poster, which is by far the dumbest thing about this movie
adi pramana I think it is gonna link to Xenophulus Lovegood
How did that reveal anything about the plot?
Spoiler alert
Hermione found the beast and they will release a new film next year
She found a Beast in my pants.
Paradox Acres savage
Zapper lol
I thought it was disappointing
WolverinesNation92 okay?
WolverinesNation92 agreed, plot was whatever, CGI was lazy, character development was lacking and it overall lacks the magic of HP
Zachary Schreiber You said it all
+Zachary Schreiber No romantic chemistry or development between the two main characters as well. The emotional scene near the end felt so random. Like what romantic hints were there that lead to this scene?
You are definitely in the minority there. The story, characters, performances, and world building were all absolutely wonderful. It crafted one of the most magical cinematic experiences of the year.
MARVEL PAID GEORGE LUCAS TO DESTROY THE STAR WARS PREQUELS
The Truth Eh, but why? Marvel will always be better then Star Wars.
The Truth But doesn't disney own both
WHAT IS this comment?
Wow, when I left the movie theater last night, my first thought was, "Chris is gonna give this an A-"
I was right, lol.
Fuck a standalone movie i want more stories!
Elijah Cassidy nope
i saw it and it definitely finished its story
It could have been the only movie in the series and youd believe it
but im glad there will be more
Luca Leone I agree.
You're exactly right. TERRIBLE stand alone film. Made close to no sense how some things came about in this film
Elijah Cassidy for me it was the opposite, I don't see how there could be any sequels. The story was so tightly wrapped up (albeit with a somewhat bittersweet ending), don't see how it could continue
Why does Stuckmann never give a movie the rating "E"?
ha ha ha ha
rayan8031 He gave Shut-In an F.. And that's worse.
I really didn't like this movie. There were so many plot holes and it was so dialogue-exposition heavy. Very disappointed.
Welcome to Hollywood 101 Today. If you would see a good movie, watch Westworld. Great series, well directed, stunning visuals, great acting, brilliant direction, no exposition, no spoonfeeding of audience. What is there not to like?
It just further cements the idea that these movies are more cash grab than they are universe expansion.
Definitely.
Alexandre Martins Gr8 b8 m8s
Tyrone Quinn Not bait at all. I genuinely was displeased with the movie. Head on back to /b/ with that nonsense, yo.
Ya I saw this last night and I was skeptical as to whether I would like it or not because I'm not a Harry Potter fan but I actually loved this movie
_Doctor Strange_ is obviously the better film of the two)
Paradox Acres who's to say it ever happened in this universe
Paradox Acres Could've been earlier if a politically knowledgable black man had run prior.
1. Fuck muggles, 2. Fuck America, 3. Fuck Trump, 4. Fuck you
I don't think Pure-Bloods care about Muggles. They're two different worlds... I suppose.
Also, Muggles hunted down Magic users.
surprised that he didnt mention colin firth
Glori Castillo Well considering he's not in the movie, you shouldn't be surprised
Yeah, man..that church scene was amazing!
No wait Colin Farrell that's what I mean
Magical storytelling with a minor amount of messy editing
Congrats on getting on the RUclips trending list. You really deserve it
After watching this twice (the first time I fell asleep as I had watched dr strange earlier in the day) I have to conclude that the first act of this movie has pacing problems.
I thought this totally felt like a set-up movie.
Connor Nyhan Wait what? My biggest praise was that it wasn't a set-up movie. How so?
mjdog96 Great b8 m7
CHRIS YOU´RE AWESOME MAN please review shane black´s KISS KISS BANG BANG or IN BRUGES
in burges, another Farrell movie!
Dani GarViRe In bruges really deserves it
Dani GarViRe your an inanimate fucking object!
This was so much more satisfying than Cursed Child
I agree. To me, Cursed Child was like bad and extremely wanky fanfic.
The cursed child doesn’t even make sense
I like watching your reviews before I watch the movies. Thank you for your diligence in keeping up on new movies.
Totally agree, that super odd-super quick messy edit between Tina & Newt always confuses me! But I love FB as well and cannot wait for the second one!!
Review "The Lobster", Chris!
There were awkward pauses between dialogue which I wasn't really sure if it was intentional or not but other than that, thumbs way up.
napa modesto I think that's to emphasise Newt's awkwardness.
Am I the only one who thinks the first two HP more than the rest of the series? (Except POA)
No I loved them the most because of how whimsical they were and their sense of adventure. Chris Colombus directed both of them too.
I honestly think _Chamber of Secrets_ is the best HP movie
Paradox Acres What in the fuck? Haha
Brad Wright His opinion...
finally, a real review! and by the way, these films are still good because they are written by a visionary, not many of those these days
David Yates did great with this film I love his directing.
Can't wait for the spin-off: Fantastic *Beats* and Where to Find Them.
A story about a guy trying to find the sickest *beats* in America.
all of these great movies coming out while I'm in the hospital so can't see them!!!
I hope you get well soon! :)
Jåden Yuki awwe thanks. I'm trying :)
HeyHay Hoping you be well soon and that you get to see it before it leaves the theaters.
Yo Chris,
I just watched "Fantastic Beasts and where to find them" and I think you fanboyed very hard on this movie.
There are so many plot holes and logic hiccups you didn't mention. Also stuff you criticized in other films, you seem to overlock here.
I really enjoyed the HP series (some more and some less ofc), but this film is just not nearly living up to your score in my opinion.
Your reviews are so stellar Chris, so insightful and approachable! You are such a valuable member of the film loving community!!!
I JUST GOT BACK AND I AM SO MUCH MORE THAN SATISFIED SO MANY EMOTIONS AND SUPRISES AND UNEXPECTED STORYLINE AND OH MY GOD
i felt disappointed by this movie :(
just like your mum by you.
sorry that was mean. I just really really liked the movie
Diego MV you probably used to disappointments in life so you should be ok! 😂
Diego MV I agree. Disappointing.
Chris Kimmel so rude
Nine movies in and they're all good... I guess you could say... It's magi-
... I'm sorry. I'll see myself out.
Row-ling, not Rao-ling.
Bob Mob he pronounced it correctly, you don't say the row like rows on a boat, you say it like raowling.
+SmokedFalafels I'm sorry but it's not. Maybe in Americaland with its butchering of words like Renaissance and such.
+SmokedFalafels Google 'jk rowling on how to pronounce her name' and watch the first link (an interview with the guardian) if you don't believe me, as you won't.
+SmokedFalafels it's actually pronounced like it rhymes with "bowling."
+MallopJynttFTW row-ling obviously rhymes with bowling? Are you a troll?
I didn't think I would care so much about Jacob the No-Maj, but I was pleasantly surprised! he was fantastic!
I am so excited for the la la land review. It's my most anticipated movie of the year and I feel like Chris will have great insight on it
I loved this film. Spot on review!
