    The nice thing for me Marvel Zombies/Heroes is every mission having set up for 4/6 players means it scales perfectly 1-4 players. At two and three players each takes 2 heroes and at four each takes 1. Previous zombicides force 6 characters which leads to awkwardness at four players.

      In previous Zombicides every player could control 2 survivors. So at 4 players you could easly play with 8 survivors, just add 1 spawn point for every 2 aditional survivors (its in the rulebook)

    This is my favorite zombie game because I prefer playing as heroes. I enjoy this so much that I grabbed a bunch of expansions including the Sentinels one that is a blast to add to the game.

      What does that expansion do?

    I agree that this is the best Zcide game. I have the KS version and also agree that unlike other Zcides, you get a lot out of the core boxes as abomination (hero or zombie) and bystander powers add so much variety to the play. On that note more from KS or expansions is certainly nice for adding to those decks (and player hero too, but not as much) rather than their different modes. However, a lot of the KS stuff seems untested or not thought out so the balance is lacking. The Sentinels are thematic and a fun pickup though. I suspect Thanos and Red Skull will be similar for similar reasons, but I have not played them yet.
    I am not sure which mode Zombie/Hunger or Hero/Power I like more. Both are great and add a different side to mechanically similar decision making. I am glad both modes exist and Marvel Zombies does such a great job of integrating content between them. It was my greatest disappointment with the recent DCeased as it seemed a real step back to only have the hero mode.

    What do you think of the traits instead of equipment cards? I heard the traits aren't as fun?

      I like them. They are one time use. So, you have to kind of plan around fishing out some good ones. I could see people not liking that, but I do. To me it fits the super hero theme.

      Could you imagine Hulk runing with a gun? Traits are much more thematic, they are like super Hero moves you have access to.

    The best Zombicide. The best reviewer.

    I definitely think this is less unique than the Zombie Mode. My girlfriend commented she wouldn’t see the point in Marvel Zombies if it were only this version. I’ve also noticed some oddities that I expect come from the Zombie Mode being designed first. Super Hero Mode is a little too easy for my tastes. Also, characters with base attacks that hit on 4+ are really bad when you have Power. Zombies’ Hunger gives you less control, so 3 dice/4+ is better at low Hunger and 2 dice/3+ is better at high Hunger. When you’re boosting your attacks by spending Power, 4+ accuracy just ends up sucking, which feels like poor balancing. Still like it, but it’s a distinct second place to the Zombie Mode for me.

      I think they did both around the same time. They put out a stripped down version called Marvel Zombies: Heroes’ Resistance. It had figures for the heroes and hero turned into zombies, but the regular zombies are standee's. It came out about the same time as Marvel Zombies.

      @@blkjet117 I know of that release. I’m speculating that the Zombie mode was designed first and the Superhero mode was adapted from that. I think it’s likely because of interviews with Michael Shinall, in which he describes the inspiration was clearly the comic stories, which focus on zombies as the protagonists.

      Hero mode is the same, 3 dice 4+ is also stronger with low power, while 2 dice 3+ is stronger with high power. 3 dice 4+ heroes are often use to kill horde because powering up is less efficient because it only adds 2 dice. I prefer hero mode because it is weird that shield moves like zombie (mindless). Zombie mode seems to be more luck-based. What I do is playing 4 characters but setup is for 5-6 to make hero mode hard

      @@stephensy2008its kinda strange coz 5-6 players in zombie mode make this game easier.

    How tough is Zombie Dark Phoenix?

    • @DriveThruReview
      @DriveThruReview  10 месяцев назад

      Depends on timing. If she comes out between you and your objective but behind a wall of zombies, her activation will start to hammer you. If she comes out alone and in such a way you can setup a big attack…. you should be good as long as your dice don’t fail you :)
