What a great design! I also would have loved to have seen the inside after running that board through. You're right about the pressure , currently I have mine just blowing out a flex pipe through a hole I cut in the wall. It works, but I'd like to save the chips for the chickens, so this design looks perfect!
I've been told that Albert Einstein said, "Genius sees the obvious." Well, I'm just an old engineer, who appreciates simple efficient design. Thank you for sharing such a brilliant clear straight forward design. After watching your video, I thought, "I have all those spare parts already. Why didn't I see such a perfectly obvious solution?" I guess why I had to go to RUclips to find is still my problem. But at least, after seeing your video, I won't have a problem with planer chip/dust collection. Thank you for such a perfect solution. By the way, Juan, very cool channel name.
Thanks Dennis. Comments like yours are the only reason I like making videos. I would much prefer to just have fun without worrying about cameras but there is a great amount of great like minded people to share ideas and learn from each other here. Cheers.
Tip: Get a narrow metal chain and connect it to the dust cyclone and have it dangle to the floor. This will ground it and keep you from getting zapped.
Don't know, the planer got stored for the winter, but basically, you pick a suitable size tub and build to those dimensions. That's what i did, hope that helps.
Thank you. I like the form factor of yours, but I think I would like it a little taller because it look like it would put me into a half crouch if I was moving long boards. I think I want the infeed hight near my bench hight. Can you gess at the size of the plastic container so that I can gestimate from that and the box store website. Thank you
@@jasulliv3 I went to dig it out just for you, is 24 wide, 24 tall and 30 on the long side. the container is 20 wide, 15 tall and 28 long. and yes you're right about making it taller, but it won't fit under stuff like benches.
@@area50juan thank you very much, I am going to try to adapt you design around the 75 gal rolling tote from Lowe's. That way I can get past my wife's garden without the wind transferring a bunch of savings to the flowers, vegetables, before I can get to the chicken run. I think it will take 5-6x 2x6x8, 1x 4x8x3/4, and 1x 4x8x1/4 for about a 48x27 foot print and hight TBD. Maybe I should try to make a video too.
The exhaust at the top of the DD should provide the necessary pressure relief such that the chips/dust fall into the collection box rather than being blown full force.
Love this setup and this is probably the cleanest one I've seen so far. Just wondering the purpose of the muffler. I doubt it reduces any sound and it is strange to be use as a filter (for finer dust).
Thanks. When it becomes full it will start shooting the chips up. So the muffler filters and stops the chips (or warn you, because it did fly off a couple times because I didn’t stop to empty the bin😊) some people use a sock there but I had the muffler from my Ridgid vacuum.
I just bought one from Home depot, so they are available. This is the best idea I've seen yet. I wish you had opened the door to see how much wood was already collected in the plastic container. Very nice video.
Indeed. One of the issues/benefits (?) with the DW735 is that the blower is so strong it does not work well with vacuum systems at least not shop vacs.
Sorry I don't understand what advantage the dust deputy adds. The hose going into the box should be just as effective since there is no suction from a vacuum making the cyclone action.
Hi Vince. I hope this helps you better understand. Air escape my friend, you can’t push air in to a sealed box that’s already full of air. Is either that or you need to install a filter system inside the box that would allow the air but not the dust out. Even if you did that first the plastic tote is out of the question, second you’re creating constant pressure inside the box and something will eventually give. The dust deputy solves all that plus it allows the chips to fall in to the box instead of being blown in which will send them everywhere. Makes sense?
@@vincegrey8718 the muffler is irrelevant. It’s just something I had and thought as the container inside becomes full it might shoot some chips out the top but never had it full, so I don’t know. However the cyclone is necessary for chip separation and air escape.
bravo! That is the smartest setup I've seen, for so many little reasons!

That's the best dust solution for that machine i have seen. Bravo Sir!
That tiny bit of dust that escaped is nothing. Very well done! 👍👏👏👏👏👍
Thanks for the kind words.
Thank you for sharing your brilliant idea. You're a humble genius!
LOL, Thanks Man.
Excellent cart idea! I would love to see the container afterwards as well.
Thank you for sharing this idea and making this video. I’m going to make a cart just like this for my DW735 now. All the best!
Great creation!! And impressive shop!!! (I'm drooling all over myself....)

Super innovative design! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Jonathan.
Thanks for sharing! Great looking shop! Love the floor.
Genius solution!
Love it. I built it and it’s perfect except I keep getting shocked from static buildup..any way to stop that.

I love the design very simple and straight forward. I like how the dust deputy is integrated into the system. Do you have basic plans?
Thanks for the kind words, I don’t use plans, I just built stuff 😊
What are the dimension of your cart, and what are the dimensions of the tub that you build you cart around? Thanks

What a great idea! Are you using a Cyclone dust collector! Thank you!
Yes I am. Thanks for stopping by 😉
Does your 2.5” hose do ok? Do you wish you had a 4” hose? Thanks
Did perfectly fine, i have sold it since i moved to Argentina.
@@area50juan Thanks, also, any static build up in the plastic tub, or hose?

Where did you get the attachment on the top of your dust deputy? I have never seen one of those.

What hose are you using there?
The one that came with the cyclone, the adapter with the red tab is from a Rigid vacuum accessory
@@area50juan are you able to share the part numbers of the type of cyclone and the rigid adapter please?
@@SuzukiKid400 don’t know the part number but is a Oneida cyclone kit and the ridgid muffler is the only one Home Depot sells from ridgid.
Thanks
Good job!
It would have been nice if you would have shown the bin after you finished.
Email me I'll reply with a small video from my phone.
I would love to see that as well.
Ummm, how is that collecting the dust ? The vacuum wasnt hooked up!!!!!
Lol. It has it’s own blower. Does not need a vacuum.
