  • Here I test get to test my theory of what's the best top handle for $500 bucks. I have spent that getting my Holzfforma G111 up to a reliable state with Stihl Parts. You can buy the MS194T new for that price. Lets put them head to head in a Holzfforma vs Stihl chainsaw battle for hand saw supremacy. While I know the 020AV would beat them both

You also have 192t 193t in the 30cc class saws which are cheaper then 194t and 201t
Also if someone is looking for smaller and even lighter top handle saw say 23cc to 27cc weight 5 to 6 lbs class
    Stihl 150t 151t
    Echo 2511 screamer
    Husqvarna t 525

Those 2511 echos are REALLY nice ported up too..but they are proud of them..the ones at my shop are 500 bucks and some change!

As we get older the heavier stihls will have you cramping and dropping one-hand reaching side cuts
Brace yourselves climbers cant always use both hands..
The Echo is the answer but wait a few and let the batteries catch up bc that might be a better option for tip top work
The Echo is TINY toy-like at 25cc and will NOT out cut a 200/01 but its not supposed to. When im at tip top my body wants the echo. Drop down and youll be wanting the 200.
2511 is NOT a clamshell. The 190 series saws ARE.
the 200 series are NOT clamshell but a jug you can remove the gasket from and do all the tricks on.

My experience with clones saws is limited to only a G372 but I'm thinking for the long haul that your 194T is the better bang for your buck?

In Italy, a brand-new Stihl MS 194 is priced at 299 euros and comes with a two-year warranty. On the other hand, a used Stihl MS 201 in good condition costs 400 euros. Personally, I think Holzfforma would only be worth considering if it were priced around 200 euros.

The Stihl ms200t is a better saw than the Stihl ms192t and I once had a couple Stihl ms200t saws. In the used market the Stihl ms 200t is often outrageously expensive due to it being one of if not the best arborist saw.
Keeping this all in mind, I'd likely choose the clone 200t knowing I can replace bad parts with OEM parts when needed. Total cost might go up higher over time than I'd pay all at once, but it would basically become closer and closer to the Stihl Ms200t while you are getting great use out of it and still likely be cheaper than buying a used working Stihl ms200t. I think Stihl was crazy to discontinue the 200t personally. Smh
Now if I was buying a top handle saw as an arborist, for in the tree limbing, then I wouldn't choose the clone except as a back up saw due the risk of it breaking down on the job.
But just for my own use, I'd go with the clone of ms200t as a copy of a better saw than the ms192t because I could buy it cheaper and build up the saw with OEM parts over time since I can't really afford the an initial high cost, it cuts better than the ms192t and I'm not using it for a job, so breakdowns are not going to be as big an issue.
Great video and I can totally understand your point of view. A very practical way of looking at it and you start off with a great high quality Stihl made saw. 😎👍

Very good points! Yes it would be nice to find a minty 200t but odds are against you. I’m really enjoying my 194t and have a few vids comparing it to this clone. It’s a pretty good watch giving all my thoughts between the 2

      Uhhmm
So… 190/1/2/3/4 are clamshell 30/32cc saws.. im not googing the bores and stroke for you. Something you should know is, “there is no replacement for displacement” sooo not sure WHY a big block 454 will walk all over a 4.3 v6?? Are you??
The 200/01 …have to bight my tongue here… are mag case saws with a standard jug pretty sure, no very, that the bore stroke is de same so.. just the auto tune.. nope the 01 is a strato. So same bore stroke + stratto and Mtronic. a lot of first reports were screens stopping up but tbt you only need them on fed land and that was the first thing people older than 5 minutes took off the saw anyway
Considering theyre not the same size “displacement” saws im not sure how you arrived at the 200/01 being superior..
      Was it a shock?? Comparing a $300 saw to a $900 one??
I have a Mtronic 261 and when i got it it would sing so im pretty sure it only needs rings atm. Have a goog around. No one is saying anything bad about the mtronic other than the gross msrp stihl put on the 01.
Get a clone all you want but its the little things like bar stud oil tube maybe other things
It won’t just break down youd have to know how saws are made
And the clones dont have the best piston to cylinder wall relationship the superior quality control of a stihl will have. Still, a better option than NONE
Put a meteor jug n slug on it maybe an oem carb
The anti vibes are the problem. Clones are terrible try to get oem on the bay bc pretty sure stihl dc’d them

@@davesteier-xf5lh I had the older ms261 pro and I have no doubt your newer 261 is an awesome saw, well worth fixing. 😎👍

Ive ran tf out of stihls and it amazes me how ppl trash the TOOL-LESS caps. Theyve worked for me always EXCEPT when a greenhorn false locks the cap and doesmt pull it FIRST before you fold the black tab down.
I know aftermarkets leak or dont fit well so you gotta get that issue solved first
I know for a fact its nice as hell to NOT need a wrench to check yer fuel 1,000 feet away from the gas oil and tool you left.
Hint hint a guy that carries his own tool is worth paying for.
Even better you only need it for the bar/chain
People used to crank the old tool caps down and that makes me mad when i need a tool to check my fuel or oil level 1,000 feet away from the tool you left at the gas and oil station.
Ill take Stihl fast caps ALLL DAY

I like the idea of the tool less caps. Husqvarna’s new design is much better with the screw design and flip top to assist. Stihl’s design is just poor execution of a good idea. Even the most seasoned users still manage to fumble and misinstall the caps from time to time.

    • @davesteier-xf5lh

Thats because most people just twist it and fold the black tab down
To use stihl fast caps; you must PULL FIRST to make sure its locked IN-to the saw. we wont talk about lining up the match marks,
But, either PULL the black tab FIRST
or, get a leg full of oil like i have several times dc i am a climber and theyd always last until i tied my saw on my belt
Then im like whats that funny feeling??
Yeah, time to lower the saw AGAIN because its out of oil
Pull the black tab BEFORE you fold it down
They are 1/4 turn caps and just false locked on-to the saw case usually the oil holds suction …till i get it on my belt :P
I do it every time easy peasy no problems and i catch it before it has a chance. since then ive been zero failure rate

    Closer comparison would be
    Stilh 194t vs Husqvarna 525t
Stihl 200t vs Husqvarna 435t both of these are 35cc saws

The Holtzforma seemed more ""grunty" although it seemed like the drags may be down a little to low the way they were " jumping" around...but overall those Stihls DEF. do better ported and un-plugged. I acquired a 192 that was straight gassed that I'm gonna rebuild and port...the saw looks NICE... but needs new P&C so I'm gonna hot rod it up while I got it apart!

Yeah the 194 seems really choked up. I’m going to dig into it at some point when I get some spare time. I did remove the screen/baffle from the clone 200. I like them both
