Great Review bro! Honest and No bullshit video. Agree with you on all points. The bike has a lot of pros. But the cons cannot be ignored.
Pros
-The engine is so tractable, the power and torque delivery is superb, there's so much character and torque. There's nothing like this in class and it stands true the Aprilia DNA.
-The handling i feel is simply the best in class. It's so easy to play around anywhere. City, highway, corners can't wait to take it onto the track.
- Electronics package is too good. The dash is great.
Cons:
- Plastic quality you are right. But that's not a deal breaker for me. I can ignore it. I just hope it doesn't cost a lot if i crash it on track. 😁
- Brakes is something Aprilia needs to fix. They're going to send the race brake pad as an accessory. Will try it out and see how it goes. Currently the stock front brake pad is already brembo sintered brake pad and rear is organic (i think these were updated in production model after track reviews).. Aprilia says there's a better brake pad. We'll see how that helps. However i still feel the brake pads will not make a big difference. Because the current stock front brake pad is already a very good fully sintered Brembo brake pad. I even tried ebc brakes and it didn't help much. I completely switched the abs off and actually felt so much better without the abs intervention. So there are two issues i feel personally.
1. ABS calibration is not right. It kicks in too agressively. Pulse on the lever is too much and it increases stopping distance.
2. After lot of hard braking there's brake fade. This i didn't feel initially much in my run in period coz i didn't push very hard. But when i pushed hard, i felt the brake fade and its dangerous. I could manage those situations with engine braking. But everybody's skill level May not be the same.
Both the above issues happen intermittently. It's unpredictable and confusing. And that's dangerous.
Hope Aprilia takes this very seriously and does something soon. If they don't, i will do mods to my bike to make my bike safer.
A friend got brembo rsc15 master cylinder and the bike felt SO much better.
Things that i will try.
- Better master cylinder
- Better brake pads
- Better brake fluid. Do4 racing it Dot 5 brake fluid.
These things i will do to my motorcycle and it can be expensive. But i wouldn't mind doing it because i still love the bike for everything else apart from braking and would want the best for my motorcycle.
But it's not necessary that everybody else also would mind spending that much. Aprilia has to do something very soon about this.
I would still suggest people to go test ride the motorcycle and see how you feel. It has more lot more positives to enjoy. But the cons need a fix asap.
Is Aprilia going to recall/ change the brake module? I have observed they are not responding to emails and tweets. Their customers person doesn't have any updates as well.
A radial master cylinder would be the solution. Brembo, Nissin, or Frando (Taiwanese). You shouldn't have to replace the calipers or rotor, but those are options.
I don't recommend getting rid of the abs, but it's up to you. You can't turn off abs in the front, and if it's anything like the 660, you can't just pull a fuse without disabling the rider electronics. You have to get an abs delete module, the one for the 660 should work, or wait for one to be made for the 457. Then you remove the abs pump and run direct brake lines (braided steel).
Again, if you want to upgrade the brakes, I recommend replacing the axial master cylinder with a radial master cylinder, and not removing your abs (unless you have a lot of practice and confidence in your braking ability, especially with front braking).
@@josh_ariI was testing how it feels without the abs by pulling the fuse. I'd ride with abs on the streets.
But on track I'll ride without the abs.
I've owned litre class motorcycles without abs like the R1. But on streets I'd ride with abs
I'm trying out a new master cylinder soon. Will update shortly.
thinking abt buying one in near future and i wanted to know whether i should make the changes for brake fluid (dot 5.1 probably) and brake pads mostly the rear ones after reading ur review. Also, i wanted to know how much the brembo master cylinders costed and where he got them from. And wanted to know how much the mileage changed after the first service. Im gonna go for a test ride soon and ill then finally decide on my decision after talking w my dad
@@farhankhan_rr Did you ever get that new master cylinder? Brembo, Nissin, Frando are all good. For one caliper you want a 14mm - 15mm piston. A 19mm would be for two calipers, would be overkill, and leave you with no brake feel.
I have to agree on all the points. I have put around 1500kms since I got the bike in mid April*. Positives are great engine, handling and sensible UI, nothing complicated nor overdone. But there are quite a lot of cons but it also has to do with a first gen of the model and as a whole new model. The plastic quality is very poor for the price, the black plastics around the forks and cluster have started to fade. The fastening hardware have started to form rust points especially the one on clips on and engine. The biggest con must be the brakes and you are absolutely right. The off the shelf ByBre is just not adequate for this motorycycle and Aprilia have cut cost in the wrong department. Frequent brake usage in city or heavy braking scenarios just lead to brake fade rightaway and the feedback while normal is also very spongy. The racing brake pads from the accessories doesnt help either, so please dont waste your money on that accessory. A basic Brembo/Nissin setup would be a much better. Please don't push this bike inside the city and make sure you have plenty of space if you plan to hit the topspeed cause the brakes won't help you a single bit.
Thank you. Nice to know this from an owner 😊
Is it possible to replace the entire brake unit with an aftermarket unit.
@@kongukaranyes it is but its gonna be on the expensive side
@@s.prabhdeepsingh Still a lot cheaper than buying another motorcycle in that category
I personally dont think the branding on the brake system matters as much. Plenty of other 300s and 400s use the Bybre 4 piston setup with 300-320mm discs and none of those bikes have this issue with fade OR the ABS intrusiveness. Those bikes hit 140-160kmph as well so it is not a speed/power issue. There is something fundamentally wrong with how Aprilia have implemented the off-the-shelf parts, either with tuning or the electronics related to ABS or both. This is pretty much inexcusible because braking is the absolute top priority for a performance motorcycle.
This is a futuristic bike. Aprillia knows that Indian youth is into fairings 400cc bikes and the obsession of superbikes and Affordable beginner sports bikes. RS 457 ate the market so early
Finally an UNBIASED no nonsense review. Thanks Strell 🙌🏻
I actually did some research on the observation you made at 21:30 regarding the frame. So frames are all die-cast be it this 457 all the way up to a Paingale V4. The difference is that the Panigale uses a magnesium alloy for the frontal frame section instead of aluminium. The only outlier here is the RSV4 that uses a combination of pressed and cast sheet elements. I think you got confused with rims which are usually forged on exotic superbikes.
10:00 small correction Strell, the power is 47.6 bhp @ 9400 RPM and torque is 43.5Nm @ 6700 RPM. These are the official brochure numbers.
Thanks 😊
Breaks issue is a serious downside for such bikes on Indian roads😢
Use engine breaking bro
Aapne chalai?
Yep engine braking is a good thing, still we need to fix the brakes somehow
Its the break lines, need to change them to steel braided break lines and the breaks will never fade
@@koli_v hope this works, thank u for the suggestion
Dayumn, One of the most awaited reviews for me :)
I booked Aprilia RS 457 today, same prismatic dark colour 💗
Kitna waiting hai
Why did you choose this bike pls explain
Love how @Strell shows us the top speed and doesn't hold back like other reviewers
In India you are getting an unbelievable value on this spectacular motorcycle. In America the RS 457 is the most expensive in it's class and priced higher than the Ninja 500 SE.
It depends on the country of origin. We have ridiculously priced no sense motorcycles here 😁
4:50 this movement is what all bikers and people who love BIKES AND CARS do omg haha
It's not a "DISTRACTION" to turn our head while listening to an amazing exhaust note on roads😂.

Bro your videos looks amazing it was better than some mainstream channel which 📸 and 🎙️🎤 you use
Thank you in advance for replying ❤

your intension is MotorCycle i get it after a sec.
Haha 😂. May be I am too focused on bikes nowdays 😂😂
Madar Cycle??
@@ankitanand676 yeah bad word

Bro plz do video on hero Maverick 440. And don't forget to pit it against the street 400
And pulsar ns400z .
buy which one u like ... just confused why u want to compete maverick with truimph with bajaj pulsar ?? these r 3 different bikes ... get the bike u luved riding ..
This video is a bit of relief for someone like me, who can't justify the upgrade to this from a RC390 !! Beautiful machine though with ample of power, technology and that price point its definitely a bargain... I envy those who got chance to own one.
Good video man! You still have room to grow but that was well made, keep it up!
I think it would be much more constructive to mention where he has room to grow.
GT 650 and the RC 390 use the 320mm disc rotor from Brembo, those brakes are actually crazy good and they come with sintered pads as stock. If the calipers and brake pads are the same as the Aprilia what's the problem? I believe its a non brembo rotor on the Aprilia.
I appreciate ur efforts bro.. u r doing a great job, I love watching ur videos❤❤❤❤
Your attention to detail is superb. Like the point about heel rest! who would have noticed it otherwise! Plus you covered all points with relevant context! superb man!
I had the same experience just came out riding this bike spot on review
7:50 it's a new technology from Aprilia called RSFS(rear suspension feedback system)😂
Actually, it lets the rider know what the rear wheel is upto when riding on the limit...
Like always great reviews. I am a 2023 rc390 owner and was planning to upgrade to this but now I think i will hold that thought for a while let's see what upgrades Aprilia brings next. But tbh it's still tempting tho.
Strell one thing to say, load doesn't have a large impact on top speed, maybe 1-3 kmph. What actually matters is power at high rpm and aerodynamics
that road is spectacular. that is road most supercars in Bangalore come to their elements. a McLaren P1 went past me at over 200 easy while i was maxing my R15. that sound that speed was scary and amazing at the same time. that sound was like a jet fighter. in its elements. that was not it. few seconds came a Lamborghini and then Ferrari stradale. all being driven like it should be
Which highway is this bro?
21:38 The concrete barriers on the highway is actually wild. Good review anyway
Nice video man will love to see more videos on the Triumph scrambler 400x
Dude you guys have got great patches of roads in the southern part of india. Here even on the highway or expressway we have uneven roads and riding above 120 kmph feels scary. though on my machine everytime i go out for a ride, i always try to cross 160kmph once. but those few minutes i am the closest to myself. 😂 enjoy those roads hermano ❤ yeah one more thing. you are right Aprilia fanboys are abusing R3.
Can we have this kinda review of the pulsar 400z. Great review bro, bless us with this type of videos.
I just hope the second third iteration of this has better braking performance. Because other than that I do not think there are many negatives...
Just the engine sound mannnnbbb!!! Freaking good
What happened to CBR650R ? You said you are not a Honda fanboy. I was looking forward to buy a used CBR 650f.
There is a 5 lakh difference between this and cbr650 😂
@@satvikmishra8887 he's talking about something entirely different 🤡😑
@@satvikmishra8887 🤡
650f is really under equipped from today's point of view. Unless you are a really experienced rider, I'd recommend you to not buy the 650f used.
The 5-6L used price looks convincing but you get very little bike in that price apart from the engine. If you own multiple motorcycles though, the 650f is a really good addition to your collection 😊
@@bamboostick5 it will be my first 4 cylinder bike. I'm an intermediate motorcyclist. I have test ridden the 650f of a friend. I like it. And I'm a kinda old school guy. I am okay with just the basics. And I just own a scram 411 and a R15 and a Jupiter. Thank you friend.
OSM video bro!!! And this is a humble req please make a review on Kawasaki Ninja ZX4R !!! There is absolutely no one that can make points like you. I'm waiting for your opinions on ZX4R since the bike launched . Love your videos man✨❣
Max torque is 43.5 Nm ✅ not 37.2❌
You are right. Its a mistake while taking it from a website.
Who asked 😒?
Hey man, how tall are you? Does it cause back pain over say an hour long or two hour ride?
I own one & true reviews great man
Hey Mate, good one. Covered most of the points. Just one question though, being a KTM 390 Gen 1 owner, which one would an ideal purchase, the rs 457 or the duke 390 Gen 3 ?
Thanks

Same issue with Benelli 600i, bad brakes with spongy brake levers, overheating in traffic. Most of the reviewers sugar coat these bikes and don't reveal the cons honestly out of fear of public backlash. Especially the initial test ride reviews
Hi Strell. Thanks for the wonderful video. Are you excited for the Tuono 457 after this? With better breaks, will that be a much more practical buy?
I am more excited for the Taureg 😁✌️
@strell bro I believe brake fade could be solved by also changing the brake fluid for a better one. Only changing brake pads might not give good results.
Nicely explained cons and pros. Much appreciated
Perfect review all over the internet
While you were riding, on my sensitive HD650 cans, there was lot of crackling noise.
I am not sure what mic you use, but I would absolutely love some dual high quality mic setup, one for getting the engine/exhaust note which is good at capturing low frequency of the spectrum and one for vocals and some of the wind.
Very sensible review as usual hero
Most awaited video ❤
I recently bought this, and i am in love with aprilia
For what price u got it on road ?
Hey your vlog was awesome had a lot of information. Actually planning to buy this bike including additional customs such as racing pad and quickshifters. Can you please what was your experience with the bike as I live in Delhi. And if this bike really heats up that much it will kill the whole excitement of riding it. ANd please suggest any other bike for this price range.
That distraction i love the most @4.50❤
what matter to me is ride quality and power with good brakes
Fire thumbnail! 🔥
Amazing review mate , thanks !! :)
All I have known till now is you can't fix the breaks cause abs calibrations can only be fixed by Aprilia, now let's wait and see what Aprilia will do with the brake management
Just imagining and adv with that engine!! Sounds tasteful what do we call it tuareg 457.. i hope aprilia is listening.
Hey man, I'm not asking this to buy this motorcycle because I'm more into Tuono and I'm expecting that. I've done around 1500kms in a Yamaha FZ -S V2.0. Will it be a good upgrade or would I be needing more experience?
have you tried to do right tight U turn? I felt that is an issue with my test bike.

Man where is this road it’s so straight
Where are the front turn signals?
Or are they not required there 🤔?
Seems GEM OF ENGINE!! How does it feel in comparison with Ninja 500?? & Does this buke stands in front of Kawasaki reliability??
Impressive road. Which one is it? Nice video.
Ride safely. Take care.
When I reviewed it on my other channel. I did say the brakes aren't as good and nobody believed me🥲🥲. But still, an amazing bike.
that road is awesome to test all kinds of bikes. i get confused which turn to take to get out toward hyderabad road and hoskote.
I took a small ride of this Beast from my frnd, none the less must say it heats quite alot and is definitely felt😅
How would you compare the extent of riding position sportiness with your cbr650r ?
Hi! At 12.18 i read Front 320mm Dual disc, but i notice only a single disc upfront. Presume it means a dual caliper disc?
Good review but will help if someone can measure the forward lean angle in the rider triangle for an avg height indian, say maybe 5'8 . A comparison with other similar spec bikes notably the RC 390 would be of great help for guys to analyse before buying .
A great bike, but like all italians , is gonna cost to run!
I am surprised the braking issue is so apparent and so bad. Plenty of other 300s and 400s use similar Bybre 4 piston setups with 300-320mm discs and none of those bikes have this issue with fade OR the ABS intrusiveness.
Strell, I’m from Malaysia, since the bike not yet come but the preorder already ongoing, I want to ask if the riding position is the same as R25 or more aggressive? Is it okay for daily 80-90km?
Aprilia ke sab colours beautiful he....!!!!
All that was missed in the RS457, should be taken inti consideration by Aprilia and must come out as an improvement in the upcoming Tuono 457.
Hi @Strell is this comfortable like R3 or even GixxerSF 250?
which road is this near airport side would like to run my R15 here. Do you mind sharing. Is it near airport ?
Steel has much higher youngs modulus of elasticity thereby giving better strength whether cast or forged...so with little extra weight peace of mind is always there for steel chassis...sadly same cannot be said for aluminium chassis( i am working on aluminium)
Wonderful no sugarcoating review
Yoo perfect review 🎉
Engine Quality checked ✅ by me in Baramati Piaggio vehicle engine plant 457 line
is this a bike for a novice rider and is the power delivery linear or very sharp like a KTM?
Would you consider this as an upgrade over vitpilen/duke 250?
Well let's hope they make a tuono 457 now. Makes more sense that a hardcore sport motorcycle
What makes the bike shine in this color and is the coating transparent?
Can you suggest a good tyre for cbr 250r under 6k.
I hope that if and when tuareg 457 comes the break issues are fixed and no other surprises...
This 2 cylinder bike is just isn't it bro. 4:48 you hear a 4 cylinder bike and for a moment you just forget that you are on a bike yourself and just admire the sound and also try to spot the motorcycle
3/4 cylinders are really good man, 2 doesn't get any better than this
I’d love to see Strell reviewing the ninja 300 2023 model
When can we expect?
Onnum manassilayillelum ee chanalil vannu vaa thurannu irikkan oru sugavaaa😁😌🤣🤣🤣🤣
Isn't brake fade an effect of improper brake fluid grade? Could you confirm if it's running DOT 4 brake fluid?
It is as per the motorinc.

With your weight? You weigh less than the amount of rice I need a month. Good review by the way. Very informative.
I don't think you need 65kg rice a month 😂
I think I should wait for a year to get the updated model of the bike. Hope Aprilia updates the break
just answer
ninja 300 or rs457
next yr gonna get for myself stucked in btween these 2
Waiting for touring review 😊
The 5L+ price is justified only if it comes with the quick shifter and adjustable suspension.
Hmm how is this only going 190kmph? Even Ninja 300 goes 185kmph... Is it because its new and the engine needs to be broken in then it'll go much farther? Because its 457cc twin cylinder it should definitely go at least 200 minimum
The bike runs out of steam at higher revs. Post 165-170 you need a really long stretch of road to hit 180 and upwards. The rev limiter kicks in just before the 10,500 rpm mark. Its power is tuned for the low end and mid range rather than the top end. For reference the ninja 300 redlines at 13000 rpm .
Not much juice left in higher rpms
But this will be much more rideable in day to day situations i guess
@@atsonaga5520yep that's important than the top end, we never gonna ride in 200 kmph constant in Indian roads. 170kmph itself is a good speed.
@@kausikmr yes but I mean what's the point of 457cc when 300cc ninja can do the same

Aprilia gives Ass mileage also Aprilia Maintenance is 2x the ktm so Duke 390 is 3k this is 6k in service + eats more fuel + More uncomfortable posture , if you can afford it go for it it's better in everything except the Service / parts but the 390 is also a Killer bike
