I’m not sure if you’ll see this comment because this is an old video but thank you very much sir! I’m going to use this battery to power my diy laptop.

Hey, just letting you know, this video still helps people (like me) an easy one for me, just changing the battery, but you told me how, thank you again.

Thanks for watching. Yep, I had a number of false starts and stumbles and when I was editing I found that. Had to include because it was funny.

Thanks for the compliment. The most common problem I found was the contacts were either dirty or contamination interfered with complete contact. Some I could fix with contact cleaner, but one was ornery and required me to put a matchbook behind it to lean it forward just a bit: never got it fixed. Good luck.

Thanks for the video. Mine has a loose power barrel connector in the rear. It's gotten so bad it's almost impossible to hold it so that it charges the battery. That's the only thing wrong and I don't want to destroy it (your video scared me a bit in that regard!). I will check your bottom plate video---maybe it will allow me to access the connector without having to do all that disassembling from the front side.

@stryder31x One problem I found is that the power jack is very deep. I tried several 12v wall-warts, and found that most of the plugs were too short to reach all the way into the jack and make contact. If you are plugged in, and the power is working but the battery doesn't charger, the battery is probably bad. There is also a switch in the back door/plate that cuts off the battery when closed. Make sure nothing is interfering with that switch.

To save you watching the whole video: Battery removal is super easy. There are two tiny screws in the back, where the remote is stored. Unscrew them, and a panel pops off. THERE is the battery. Just unplug the battery, screw the back on again, and you’re done. Could NOT be easier.

Hey Phil, I need to take the bottom apart where the iPod docs. I have a short in there somewhere and but do not see a visible means of opening that piece.

@kingspacecow Howdy. Thanks for watching. I'll put together a video for opening up the baseplate real soon. (maybe I can get it done Tuesday).

@tippstevie Thanks for watching. I had a problem like you described on one of mine, and found that the wall-wart (transformer) was bad. The system would shut off when the battery faded to some low level, but overnight (or longer), the battery (without charging) would regain enough power to start up again and run for a short while. I never looked at the charging circuit, but it seems yours is not connecting up properly. Sorry I can't be more help, but I would check the switch and connectors.

Hi Phil, great video. I have had problems with this speaker system for over 6 months now when it started to power off randomly at shorter and shorter intervals and eventually even when plugged in. I noticed that the charging symbol also failed to light up and that when plugged in it always indicated fully charged. I reckoned on the battery and after sourcing a new one it worked for a month before displaying the same behaviour. Can I fix this in any way if I tear it apart - its all IC inside??

I've had this for 13 years and it still works great. The only issue I have is the FM radio is stuck on 76.0. It happened about a year after I got it. Is tere anyway to fix it so the radio will work again?

    Hi Phi, great video!
So, I have problem with charging the same model: my liitle sister tried to charge it with another power adaptor and since then, when I plug it in, all indicators are just blinking, and nothing else..
Can you tell me, is it a problem with battery or with a fuse box??

@kingspacecow Howdy. I made 4 videos, but when I tried to put them together into something I can publish here, I realized the camera missed most of what I tried to record. My new camera (Nikon) has a rear viewfinder, and I tried to adjust what I could see, and will get one done soon. Sorry for the delay.

I have a iMT620 that 5 of 6 buttons can not work. I found only 2 screws on the back to remove but can not deassembly the cover/shelf to replace the buttons. Please help me if you have any video for this speaker.

I am sorry to hear about your problem with that. I do not have nor do I know anything about that model. I would look for any hidden screws, although many plastic cases are mostly snap together, just using a couple screws for more security. Good luck.

Any idea how to fix sound? Mine plays through the output jack with external speakers for radio, iPod and aux. Volume control works fine as well but no sound when I try to play with internal speakers.

    Hi,
Thanx for this video, very helpful and crystal clear. I used an unbend paper clip (stick it in an hole, and pull with pliers) to easily lift the front panel.
My IM600 wouldn't start... Checked power supply (13V at the schaffner filter) and battery (approx. 4V), no prob. Checked the bottom panel (power switch), no prob. Disassemble the bottom side boxes, completely useless (no fuse, don't do it !).
BUT, stamp on the IC under lcd is burned, probably overheating problem. Can someone read it ?

    Hey Phil,
I have this model as well and my power up button (+) stopped functioning today. I love your video, but it doesn't show how to get the bottom piece open. I'm not sure what I'll do once I have it open but we shall see lol. I'd appreciate it if you could help me figure this one out =\

Sometimes the battery is so far discharged it won't charge anymore. You'll have to charge it with a more powerfull charger for some minutes to get it back to life.
Mine doesn't stand anymore, the back stand is lame.
