Congrats on the bike! 33 years ago the LS650 was my first motorcycle. I sold it, bought a second one years later. Sold that one too and bought a third one years later. I still own number three - for 16 troublefree years. Still love to ride it and certainly will keep it! Enjoy your blue beauty, cheers from Germany 😊
I have the same Savage 650 1998 since 2002... 185 thousand kilometers through Brazil and the south of South America. Simple, basic and amazing motorcycle.
The Savage is a great beginner bike, and larger riders fit on it. I'm 6'240 and I fit fine. But I don't advise going more than a few miles from home on it. I had 4 flats in less than a year, and since it has tube type tires, every one required a tow truck. I spent more on towing than I did for the bike. Get a bike with tubeless tires if you actually want to go somewhere.
@@kaptein1247 That's not far off. In reality, I tend to have a flat with tube type tires every 3,000-4,000 miles, while I have only had one flat with tubeless tires in over 250,000 miles. And it was easy to fix. I removed the nail, inserted a plug, reinflated the tire, and was on my way.

Its a know issue with tubed tires that they only have a 3 mile range
