Lovely to see the full factory RC500 Honda, hand built by HRC Honda, and just how good the production CR500 was at the time. Brings back good memories of when Britain ruled the MX world..👍👍😎
sitting here on lockdown reliving the days past..keeping me sane lol ...i got to practice with mark banks back in 86/7 on a sand track at thetford forest..he was quick..paul bickers and jason saunders i believe joined the practice aswell..they all blew me away but i soldiered on enjoying every crash asnd mistake i made lol...i was using banks ex 85 cr500 that a friend had brought..what a machine..the sound on power.. the smell of silkolene was awesome..you were respected if u could even started that 500...good times.
For Mark Banks to be competing with DT so hard at 17/18 was phenomenal. He was one of the best natural talents I can remember, shame he hurt himself so badly, that stopped his progress (was it knees?)
@@stevejohnstone1702 i think alot of his decision to quit was the family buisness..i do believe they even stopped selling mx bikes around that time....last i heard was around 12 yrs ago he done an enduro local..his special test times were way ahead of the pros lol he put some weight on but that didnt stop the throttle being wide open lol

Well done @staffihound for posting these old MX videos, brilliant. 👏
Great track much better than them man made supercross tracks we have to put up with nowadays
Great race
Far better racing than today
Brilliant effort from Banks
So much like Unadilla in the early 80s. That's why the euros did good there.
Muy buena carrera! Great race!
Good close racing, they where enjoying that.
