I too really enjoyed Sri Lanka…the People, the beauty and cleanliness of the country and all the marvellous Animals and birds…I was born in Guyana, South America, but Immigrated to Canada in 1969…Canada is one of the best countries in the world..And I am very proud to be a Citizen for 55 years…..but if I had to choose another country to live in today…I would choose to live in “ Nuwara Eliza, Sri Lanka “ it is the Tea area …ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACES IN THE WORLD…. Lovely video! I recently spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka as well and totally fell in love with the place. It's been added to my list of favorite countries. I plan to go back again next year and see some of the sights in the south which I missed last time. The Central Highlands (Ella and Nuwara Eliya) are noticeably cooler than the coastal areas and a nice respite. In addition to all the tea plantations, there are so many beautiful waterfalls and wonderful hiking opportunities in the area. I can't wait to go back! Thank you for sharing!

We would still classify it as a lower cost country. It was a little more expensive than India, but still great. You will still pay a lot for the high end hotels and resorts, but we found restaurants, groceries and transport pretty reasonable. Definitely a country worth visiting. I am pleased to hear interesting stories about my country, specially those who visited here even several decades ago. Its actually a good destination for everyone. Because it has vibrant cultures, specially historic and religious places, white sandy beaches around the country. Many have bloated longer videos that do not pack the punch or have the ROI that you have provided to your viewers. Kudos! By chance do you have the Azores on your bucket list? I am trying to plan a trip there to the more obscure islands and having some challenges with that. I have already travelled there bf and want MORE! this is rare for me to return to a location. I’m always looking for underdeveloped less touristy spots that have the WOW factor for nature, architecture,culture and food.

We paid cash to the tour guide. We used the Uber app for all Ubers, but not without insistence on our part. They all wanted cash, but we just told them before getting in the car that we were paying on the app and had no money. The tuk tuks were very cheap and we paid cash. Hope this helps! John & Bev

Thanks and yes that is correct. There are some great Sri Lankan hotels and resorts to pick from. The Shangri-La in Hambantota and the Cinnamon Lodge near Sigiriya were both wonderful.

Costs were slightly higher than India. Both countries were very reasonable, although prices were higher in the higher end hotels and restaurants in both countries. Overall, we considered Sri Lanka quite reasonable.

Awesome! How did you research these hotels and outings? I wouldn't know where to start. Were these videos (minus the drone footage) shot with your iPhones? Also, I noticed you pronunciation or Sri Lanka is different than what I've heard before. Is this how it's said in the country?
We have been mostly using our phones, but also some GoPro. Regarding the pronunciation, we jokingly call ourselves the language butchers, so not sure. 🤣 We have heard it pronounced a couple different ways.

What a trip! I am currently looking at replicating your route, do you remember what the uber costs were between each location?
Great. Uber costs were around $45 - $80 depending on the length. Most drives we took were 2.5- 4 hours. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the video. For the tuktuk and local cabs, did you pay with cash or credit card?
We paid cash to the tour guide. We used the Uber app for all Ubers, but not without insistence on our part. They all wanted cash, but we just told them before getting in the car that we were paying on the app and had no money. The tuk tuks were very cheap and we paid cash. Hope this helps! John & Bev
