My father had a similar tractor when I was young - it was preceded by a single front wheel Farmall B from the 40's - I rode on his lap on both until I could drive it myself. Very special memories. I hope you keep this tractor forever - never let her go!
I inherited my grandpas old Massey Ferguson 135 diesel 2 years ago. My grandpa got bad off health wise so the tractor wasn’t run for probably 2 years. I went down to get it and not even 2 turns of the motor it cranked right up. Love the older equipment. These new ones won’t last that long.
Ford tractors are hard to beat. I had a 8N and a 5000. They always started no matter what the weather was. The 5000 was really handy. I used it to power my topsoil trommel and brush hog.
battery tray needs some boiling water on to kill the acid deposit , wire brushing , rust preventive (Blue Hammerite for rusty metals, about $9) to stop tray rotting out or slap that red battery terminal grease on to slow the rust down. Great tractor , sounds good. Thanks for the video Chris👍🇬🇧
Those little 2810s are really good little tractors. I had one when I was in school that I would plow gardens with. Now all I run here on the dairy is Fendt and Deere. C&S DAIRY FARMS NARROWS VA
I use an 8ft tall by 10 or 12 ft long piece of chain link fence as a drag. I use a chain attached to the 8ft side of the fence in two places then just hook it to the hitch. It works fantastic and is easy to handle and really works up the manure in the field.
I know the feeling.. My Grandfather bought a Ford tractor new back in `55 (I believe.. I forget the exact date.. we found the reciept after my grandmother passed away)... my father is still running that thing. Very reliable old girl.
When the time comes to replace the starter on that Ford, try one of the newer style "gear reduction" starters. The gear reduction starter will spin the motor over faster, and won't require that big bucks 4DTL battery.
Gotta love an old tractor like that. No frills or anything absolutely not necessary. Ford made some great tractors back in the day. Good video. Old tractors and equipment are the best. Thanks for sharing.
That reminds me of one of my tractors that I use quite a bit. I have a 1979 Ford 3600 that is pretty much the same thing without power steering. That ole' girl will crank any day and every day and do so much work.
@@shawnashby3336 I just picked mine up a couple of months ago. It does need a little TLC and from what I can tell it has a bit over 1500 hours on it (gauge is hard to read). I mainly use it for cutting and discing fields as well as dragging logs out of the woods to cut up for firewood.
Chris nice little Ford tractor. Although it doesn't have a AC. You can put a flat roof on it to keep the Sun off you and works just fine in the Summer blazes.
Its funny how the cows are, they meet you off the tractors, they scream and run away, but when you spin around them like crazy with the harrow, they are like "naaa, let him do his thing, it makes him happy, I´ll just stand here and keep an eye on the old boy!"
Put a piece of rubber truck mud flap in the battery tray between the battery tray and battery and a small piece over the batterry terminals between the terminals and the metal hood. it'll extend your battery life.
Love them old fords. We have a 4600 and a 7810 and my generator has the same 6cyl that is in our 7810. The most reliable tractors around. Thanks for sharing.
I agree with you you 100% on not getting rid of that tractor I ran one on a farm had almost 6,000 hours on it before the engine gave out best tractors ever made and hard to find in great condition like yours, 1,000 hours is still low for that tractor their getting hard to find farmers nowadays a scooping them up left and right keep it man that thing will run forever.
My gates at the farm all have tractor dents in them. That's not because we are lazy, it's just how you are supposed to open them. LOL! Nice Ford, BTW! Keep the videos coming.
Get'er done gear I like it. Yeah those old tractors just keep keeping on if you look after them . Boiling water takes care of battery terminal corrosion, my dad showed me that. Made for a great video bro. Stay well
A friend of mine started started a tractor standing to the side and it was in gear. That big rear tire ran up his leg and took all the meat off his leg, When I start mine I check at least twice and I think about it every time when I stand to the side starting.
Keep an eye on the rubber transition hose on the air side: mouse chewed a hole on one of my Ford tractors and it cost me an engine rebuild.Did the rebuild myself and caught it before the cylinders got past max allowable bore.
My Dad bought a 3000 new in '68, when I was 4. Traded it in for a grey Fergie that was blue and white and sold under the Ford name. My brother still has it. Meanwhile I have a McCormimick 624 of about the same vintage, but a 4 cylinder 52 hp, while these are 3 cylinder. Our 3000 was 45 hp. It was built in Belgium, my 624 is from Germany.
Hahaha I do the same thing with the gate when I'm hauling stumps or firewood down to the farm, that way I only have to stop and get out once to shut the gate on my way out
Not so bad working cabless without air-con in the summer so long as you drink plenty but you have to be a real hardy soul not to have a cab and a heater if you do much work below freezing.
I think you have one fine tractor and when done brush hogging, can you use that rake and catch up all that brush and make it look better or is that overkill. I seen you use the skid steer I think it was you where it was a hillside and used that mulching head which will take down small trees. I know whats cuts down goes back into the soil but some has tons where other has so little and so scatter it over all of it... you feel me there??
Shit, Ol' Tractor is still in Mint shape, looks great for that year, was talkin about should have thinned the trees out some more , hell ya do it all week long for everybody else ya hate to do it when ya get a minute for yourself....lololol.....Hope you and the rest of the Crew have A Great Easter Chris !! Have a Great evening.......
Also: retail on the tractor because of its age is around $5000.00. Depends on local market. Unless you're float broke it's always better to hang on to what you have and let your estate worry about selling when you're dead and gone. That's my thought process anyway.
I have a Deutz d3006 made in west Germany and she runs like a sewing machine. I have used her for decades and still same old battery she never fails to start. Air cooled diesel engine.
I don't care what anyone says...those old Fords are the toughest tractors ever built. I grew up on 3 of them and also have my grandfather's 4000 diesel which is waiting to be restored. The 3-cylinder diesels are bulletproof.
It's a pity you did't clean the rust of the battery frame and give it a coat of paint before you installed the new battery. A small bit of maintenance will extend the life of everything.
Hey, looks like too much fun. Get 'er done. There is a practice out there that uses chickens to scratch at the manure, eating the bugs and disbursing it. It would take the fun away from using the tractor, but hey, win some and win some more. You already rotate the field...so the days the cattle are grazing on one side the chickens are scratching on the other. Doing well, Keep up the good work.
I'm glad Ford put those big 4DLT batteries in an easy spot to take them out. We used to have a Ford 7000 and a 6610 with the same one. That 2810 is nice!
Was that battery properly dead. When modern batteries go 100% flat smart chargers see no voltage and think they are not connected so they don’t charge the battery. I always place a fully charged battery across the flat battery then connect a smart charger and after a few seconds disconnect the fully charged battery. And in most cases what seams like a dead battery actually charged.
The need to bush hog the trees just says you are using the wrong farm equipment for the job as you have some natural weed controls in the form of goats and pigs. Goats would see those saplings as an all you can eat buffet and pigs would uproot every one of them as they root around in the area. Just need some temporary electric net fence to secure the area and release the weed control animals in to do what they do best. It is just like chickens are the best way to spread fresh cow manure as they scratch away in it looking for larva to eat. You break the parasite cycle in the livestock and get the materials spread out for better use.
Chris, the old Ford purrs like a kitten and a damn good looking tractor to be as old as it is they were low Ford tractors you couldn’t beat them but anyway brother great video and you stay safe up there
I really don't care if a guy wants to bend his gates and how he does it. But over the years I've been fixing customer equipment or buying tractors for resale or my own collection. As a man that's owned several of many brands of tractors, the older Ford's seem to always out work their claimed rating and are dead reliable. I sold my 2014 John Deere after 100 hours and replaced it with a 1993 Ford 4630 and replaced my zero turn with a Ford 1910.

That pasture is very clean, I can tell you take care of it. 👍
Gotta love the barn dust protecting the paint. That’s a nice original right there.
Keep that Ford! You will regret getting rid of it.

7 months? That thing would fire right up after sitting for 7 years. Pretty tractor.

Steve Martinez I had a 79 3600 too. That thing was a work horse. I bought her in 1998 with only 714 hours on it.

I love those Ford's. New Holland will never match or beat Ford tractors. Saying that, older tractors are much better than the new stuff in many ways.
Chris nice little Ford tractor. Although it doesn't have a AC. You can put a flat roof on it to keep the Sun off you and works just fine in the Summer blazes.

2810 thats the smaller verson of the 5610
I could watch Ford tractor videos all day! Grew up on 3000, 3600 and 5000
My grandfather owned a ford 2000, which I currently have. Needs some work but love the old thing.
Best little tractors ever made.. I have a 1986 3910 with turf tires and a 90 inch Landpride finishing mower. Cut grass light golf course
Love those old Force II Fords. Spent many a summer driving a 3910, mowing forest tracks with a flail mower. 1750rpm all the way. 😆
Put a piece of rubber truck mud flap in the battery tray between the battery tray and battery and a small piece over the batterry terminals between the terminals and the metal hood. it'll extend your battery life.
Surprised you did not treat/clean off rust on tray/box and paint. By the time you change the battery again the tray will be gone also.
Great seeing you keep something running. That is a handy gadget after rake.
Can’t beat the old stuff they knowd how to make em back in the Day wish they still made em like em
Give/take. I want my brick shit house to have internet.
@@52Ford Wifi's great but that doesn't mean my equipment has to break more often.

I went out in the truck body and fired up my 1946 Farmall A this morning that has set that long Chris. I am sure your ford will fire up OK.
The cows are like you moooooove on over I have the right to relax here. Awesome video especially when you started cutting the grass.

New tractors might have air conditioning but old tractors have iron.
Not true, I actually have a 1991 MF 390T fitted with air cooling
Get'er done gear I like it. Yeah those old tractors just keep keeping on if you look after them . Boiling water takes care of battery terminal corrosion, my dad showed me that. Made for a great video bro. Stay well
Your tractor reminds me of the two Ford 2000's we had when I
started working for the DOH. Tough old machines that didn't give muck trouble.
We still have one , for moving boats around at our yacht club. Had it's first rear tyres in over 30 yrs a couple of months ago !!
A friend of mine started started a tractor standing to the side and it was in gear. That big rear tire ran up his leg and took all the meat off his leg, When I start mine I check at least twice and I think about it every time when I stand to the side starting.
Nice right now, but be careful of the weather tonight and tomorrow. Mighty good looking tractor for its age!!!!
Man, reminds me so much of my grandpa Hal's old Ford. I wish I still had that tractor, I did so much with it as a kid.
Keep an eye on the rubber transition hose on the air side: mouse chewed a hole on one of my Ford tractors and it cost me an engine rebuild.Did the rebuild myself and caught it before the cylinders got past max allowable bore.
We have the same tractor on our farm. Been putting it through the ringer for more than 20 years!!

The old Ford tractors were good! The old 8Ns were used hard, but kept going strong. Green isn't the only kind of tractor! 😀
Hahaha I do the same thing with the gate when I'm hauling stumps or firewood down to the farm, that way I only have to stop and get out once to shut the gate on my way out
That’s a great Ford! Growing up in Guilford County, I worked summers in tobacco driving Ford tractors!!! Keep this one!
I have a 2810 and I learned how to shift
It's a good tractor and you can put a cab on it and a ventilator system 🚜 stay safe!
I have polished the seat on several of those old Fords. It will start, run and outwork todays stuff of the same size.
Get a ctek charger and leave it plugged in when not in use. They have then for 6v
It's a Jewel, got 1965 MF 35 with Perkins Diesel, it's a Jewel my favorite
Pour some soda in that tray too, keep it from rusting anymore
Batteries and tires prices have gone out the roof!
What a beautiful tractor !!!! I wish i could get one in this condition here in Germany, but they are not common here, sadly.........
That series of Fords were tough. I have a 1710 and 1920 both 4 wd. Goes anywhere and always atarts
Grew up on that same tractor and still have it today. Hard to beatem! Happy Easter to you and yours!
I understand the appeal of air-con, but if I needed one tractor and needed it to work everyday, I'd take the old Ford.
Not so bad working cabless without air-con in the summer so long as you drink plenty but you have to be a real hardy soul not to have a cab and a heater if you do much work below freezing.

Take the battery out, and keep it stored on an inexpensive float charger? That's what I do.
And perhaps, a loose fitting tarp to keep it moisture ventilated - but some of the dirt off.

Same tractor i grew up on. I don't even want to know how many hours i have bush hogging or raking/baling hay with one of these.
We used to have a Ford 3000 Super Dexta, a brilliant tractor for its time and the fastest one on the road too.

Nice tractor! In very good condition!
Grass is just starting to get green in New England and you’re cutting grass 3-4’ high...
Would battery tenders for for the farm equipment work? I guess with batteries lasting 12 years you don't really need too.
Nothing like seeing them sweet gum trees get mowed down. Love it
Shes a keeper very nice old Ford 😎👍👍
You need to clean and paint or replace that Battery tray. You're making Mike Simon look good !
Looks like you need one of those forestry attachments for a Skidsteer.
dcrahn he has one for skidsteer and mini excavator

Sorry about the gate. I was thinking the same thing, just give it a little nudge. Should work perfectly. Fixed it! Who saw anything?!?
Them Ford tractors are tuff as nails. The only thing I don't like about some of them is the exhaust coming out of the hood in front of your face.
10:44 "i'm not gonna Mooooove"
Also go to your alternate and check your voltage and see if it’s 13.5 or 12.5
Happy Easter god bless
It looks like you could probably drag that faster with the four-wheeler. Just wanted to use the tractor again though I know
Im not sure that damn thing probably weights 600 lbs
you're not pulling that thing with a 4 wheeler.

Yes it will start...IF the battery is all up to 13. vots...or just putt in a new one...:-)
Chris I used to work on tractors started at a Ford garage, you might check on adjusting the lifters, I don't know how many hours you have it.

The only consolation with such a heavy battery,
is that the price per pound gets lower.
