I love watching all your videos. You have inspired me. It has changed my life. I found out I had cancer in August it wrecked me. I went through surgery in November. After that, I wasn't myself. I was so depressed and stopped living. I found one of your resin videos, and it sparked something inside of me. This was the beginning of February. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I'm crafting! It keeps my mind busy. You never know how your videos change people's lives. Thank you, and God bless you. ❤

They are going to love making these. One suggestion is that when canning preserves, there are tongs used to lower the jars into the water. It could be lowered in and then taken out . I don't know if it would work. Much love from Northwestern Pennsylvania USA ❤

Maybe take some of the water (accounting for your measured volume) and freeze it. Then, zero out the scale with the measuring glass on the scales, measure the alum into it to the right weight, and add the boiling water so you don't have to microwave. Dissolve it and then add the ice cubes to quickly cool it so you don't have the crystal formation at the bottom. Give it a try, experiments are always fun!!!!
Maybe put a couple of those little painting stand (little triangle thing acrylic pouring videos use?) to hold the geode up off the bottom and have less chance of it sticking to the crystals and breaking sections off??

I'm enjoying watching you play with making crystals. I did a project back in middle school... To see what would grow crystals and how big they'd get in a certain amount of time. I used salt, sugar and instant coffee crystals. Then baked them. All grew crystals... But I can't recall which he largest crystals in just the baking time. But thought I'd bring it up because you can try making geodes for a little cheaper than alum.
Love your purple one, looks like Amethyst ❤❤

Maybe paint the outer surface with something like a latex masker? I don't know if it would survive the solution, but worth a shot.
Also, natural amethyst often has a gradation (I think from lighter at the base and darker toward the tips,) so maybe for a second batch of solution add more dye later on to get a darker effect?
And the dark spots are probably the dye sticking to minute particles of the alum in the solution, I suggest adding the dye to the water *before* adding to the alum (see my other suggestion for that.)

Ooooh! Julie, what you did! 😍😊 Those look like amethysts, truly!!! 👍 *GLORIOUS!* You have GOT to make a mold of this, girl! That sparkle is *killer!* 💕
QUESTION: Is there anything you could use to coat the surface of an object so that crystals would *not* grow on it? Something that could be peeled off easily? LIQUID LATEX might work, right?!
Yes, RIT™ dyes are *famous* for not completely dissolving! Procion™ dyes are MUCH better!
