- Among the dead plants of winter, awakens a beautiful lilac bush I planted years ago just for this very day. Giving the spring butterflies and bees a drink of sweetness! The weather is a warm spring day with that perfect little breeze gliding them as they fly from flower to flower.
The butterflies did not seem to mind me filming them, what a gift they give without even knowing it! Enjoy the flowers, little creatures!

Grateful for everyday living on the mountaintop in our transformed log/farmhouse. We offer food from scratch, handmade DIY, old-timey skills, and simple living for 2!
We still love to do all the things we did when we had a larger family, only in smaller portions. We love to cook, bake (even on a wood stove), make DIY projects including sewing, weaving, and home renovations, and enjoy everyday living in our log/farmhouse on the mountain ridge!
We still practice old-timey skills that we introduced to our children as they were growing up and homeschooled almost 3 decades ago. Some of these skills that we, as empty-nesters, are still using: soap making with lye, hand-dipping beeswax candles, dyeing textiles, rendering beef fat into tallow, canning, dehydrating, and preserving foods, hand-hewing logs, making homemade natural cleaners, bath soaps and more.

We just received dumpload of snow over here in Alberta, so this is a stunning sight.
I used to live in NY-J and would watch the Victory Garden all winter to get me through it, so I can relate the feeling of looking forward to spring. We are down in the 30's the last 2 days, no snow, so I am happy-thanks for the watch and the comment! 😍

BEAUTIFUL!!! I live in Kentucky and my lilacs are just starting to bud...way behind yours.
They are at peak, started about 2 weeks ago. I have others around the front that face the west that are just starting. Which is nice, about 4 weeks of lilacs. Kentucky is beautiful, we almost moved there instead of TN mountains. Thanks for the watch and the comment.
I've lived in KY all my life and my family came from the mountains, so pretty around Daniel Boone forest, natural bridge...love tenn too, very pretty too...yep can't wait for my lilacs!
