Bluegrass is its own genre of music. Bluegrass focuses on the music and country focuses on the lyrics. Traditional Bluegrass uses strictly string/acoustic instruments they don’t use drums or electric guitars or electric bass.
How I wish that today all the people would pray, as they did in the ol country church. If they'd only confess, Jesus surely would bless, as He did in the old country church.
I wish the Churches 😢 would go back and sing these old songs. They are beautiful and you can understand what they are singing. Take the drums out of the Church. Thank you all for a beautiful song.
At large, my church doesn't but over the past 2 years I've tilted it back to these songs. Way too many old folks filling the pews to be throwing progressive new age chrsitian at them in my opinion. Gotta refresh their weary souls
and that is what Waylon complained about... "established" Nashville... (they) suck. But they don't know it or don't care... take their canned G/F Country.. a beer, a dirt road, a new girlfriend, tailgates, pick up.... and be thankful they think that is real "country"
Tyler Childers, & Ricky Skaggs are both come from Eastern Kentucky along US 23 AKA The Country Music Highway in the heart of Appalachia. Ricky Skaggs, Tyler Childers, Chris Stapleton, Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gale, The Judds, Billy Ray Cyrus, Keith Whitley, Dwight Yokam, Jason White, & Patty Loveless all come from within a few miles of each other along US 23.
Tyler I love Gospel music but what you are standing for I approve my grandma was born in Kentucky coal miners days I appreciate how many people you are talking truth not false hood (1945) last of WWll God will bless your heart
Tyler what an honor to sing along such greats!!! Here in Estill we love and appreciate you, your music, your wife, your support of our sweet little community. You weren’t available (but I did ask) to join Geno as the Mushroom Festivals Grand Marshal’s in our little parade. We are all so proud of you and watching y’all at the awards show. What an honor to be nominated for a Grammy!
Real deal Country with Eastern Kentucky feller singing High Lonesome lead with Rick another Eastern Kentucky boy and Del singing high harmony. Awesome, love it, that's how it should be done.❤👏
imagine what is going through Tyler's mind with Ricky Scaggs and Del McCoury singing harmony while he sings lead, must be a real bucket list thing, it would be for me
Let me give you a short testimony of what this song did to me. I was on youtube looking for country gospel songs and this song popped up. I knew Hanks Williams Sr sang it so I listened to it. It went so deep into my soul and I now love bluegrass gospel music. I never liked bluegrass music before. Thank You God and Thank You for the singers singing this beautiful song and Thank You for the person who posted it.
Happy to know, and see, Del still performing well. All due accolades to Tyler and his voice, but voices like Del’s, Ricky’s, Bill Monroe’s and Ralph Stanley’s truly pierce my heart and soul, in a good way.
So rare to hear something of this quality and value, especially in this current day of songs that talk about nothing but beer, trucks, whiskey and women.
Del mccrorys hi lonesome tenor is one of a kind. He’s one of the best. Tyler Childers got such a powerful honest voice, a legend in the making. . Ricky Skaggs already a legand.
The ole Gospel hymns still stir the soul, and reach the spirit of man, because they were given to Holy Ghost filled musicians who sang and played them!!!
I'm thankful to have been born in a time period to play and listen to this type of music. Young musicians are what will keep all types of music alive, I'm parcel to Country, Bluegrass, Southern Rock and Gospel, but all music types are important. Tyler & Del did a great job singing this song.👍👍
Wow, great job on a great country gospel song...and on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry no less. That's getting to be a rare occurrence. Thanks the the brave group that dared to buck the new norms.
Del McCoury is a national treasure.
100%
He certainly is as is Ricky Skaggs
And Tyler Childers.
So Happy the Opry still allows songs like these, music like this, and mentioning the Name of Jesus.
Thank you Opry, this is true Country.
More like Bluegrass!!
There are only two genres of music… good music and bad music
Bluegrass to be exact
A refreshing change
Better than Elle king???
The people that were in attendance were fortunate to see this performance. Excellent!
Sadly, watching this, now it feels like I haven't heard real music for most of my life. What a great rendition
In today's world of fake, its wonderful to see and hear real.
This is the country music that belongs on the Opry stage. Let Keith Urban, Morgan Wallen, and the like play the other venues.
U said it!!!!!!
Couldn’t agree with you more.
💯👏👏
@BrandoTheBaldwell…bluegrass is a sub genre of country so it’s still country.
Bluegrass is its own genre of music. Bluegrass focuses on the music and country focuses on the lyrics. Traditional Bluegrass uses strictly string/acoustic instruments they don’t use drums or electric guitars or electric bass.
I love these old Hymes. You don't hear them any more. I am 83 years old.... Miss them.
How I wish that today all the people would pray, as they did in the ol country church. If they'd only confess, Jesus surely would bless, as He did in the old country church.
So glad that they still sing Gospel on the Grand Ole Opry.
For this one moment the Opry is once again true country! More like this!!!!
I wish the Churches 😢 would go back and sing these old songs. They are beautiful and you can understand what they are singing. Take the drums out of the Church. Thank you all for a beautiful song.
Hello So sorry for the infringe on your privacy. Beautiful song
Here in Eastern KY this is all that’s sung in our Free Will Baptist Churches. Praise the Lord
We sing these songs in China Grove, NC.
@@zakerysloan642
My church is Free Will Baptist and we sing from the old book with no concert. Im in NC.Good Ole gospel!!!!
At large, my church doesn't but over the past 2 years I've tilted it back to these songs. Way too many old folks filling the pews to be throwing progressive new age chrsitian at them in my opinion. Gotta refresh their weary souls
What a blessing to hear this music at the Opry. Music for the soul.
AMEN
Del McCoury has an amazing voice. And Tyler Childers is keeping country alive!
Del yeah he does! Hoping to see him this year
Del is from our county here in PA and many have never heard of him.
This was great! This is what the Opry needs to be all the time instead of all this modern country.
Agreed 100%
Amen

So glad that the Grand Ole Opry still plays gospel music like this. ❤❤
The way things are going in today’s world not for long I would suspect.
@@skoffco people have been saying that for years. It's not going anywhere.
Oh Lord, this man is easy on the eyes!! And he sings like an angel!
Del McCoury voice still sounding amazing
This needs to be released as a single or something, this is great!
Agree. I’ve been trying to see if they’d release this broadcast as a single on iTunes.

You can’t forget about Jason Carter up on stage there too. A great fiddle player that also has his name on that highway.
Well if Patty Lovelace is up there, I do believe you omitted her brother. Vince Gill
Love the Dwight Yoakem song “Reading, Writing, Route 23.”
@@loisbarker9127. He’s from Oklahoma not Kentucky.
Amen brother !!! Proud of my roots and scotch Irish heritage!!!
Tyler I love Gospel music but what you are standing for I approve my grandma was born in Kentucky coal miners days I appreciate how many people you are talking truth not false hood (1945) last of WWll God will bless your heart
Finally country music you can understand and everybody can relate to
I am so glad Tyler Childers is getting recognized for the musical talent he is.
His art is so underrated! Fantastic style and youth to carry country to into the next generation.
For those who know, he's been recognized for years. Finally saw him in Colorado last Fall. Top 5 concert ever easy.
@@Puddlef1sh he’s also coming to Canada 🇨🇦 which is amazing!

Tyler is probably one of the super few artists that have respect for these older ones. Class act.
Real men who praise the lord and sing about it and they realize the gifts they've been granted ❤❤❤❤
Amen
Beautiful song 🎵 Brings back memories when I went to the old country church in my childhood days ❤
That had to be quite a thrill for Tyler on stage with those legends.
Ricky Skaggs is the best. I love him and Sharon
This brings back memories and reminds me of a simpler time, when going to a plain old-fashioned church meant something.
Brings a tear to my eye thinking of my time growing up in an old country church.
I've never clicked on an Opry video faster. Two certified legends and a legend in the works! :D
Thank you Opry for posting this!
I hope Tyler becomes a legend like those two!!
Real deal Country with Eastern Kentucky feller singing High Lonesome lead with Rick another Eastern Kentucky boy and Del singing high harmony. Awesome, love it, that's how it should be done.❤👏

TYLER wearing that soul sold seprately jacket soo cool
I would watch every Opry video if they all had pure, homegrown country music like this. Shame how they've strayed.
I saw Tyler play at open mic night at Eddie’s Attic more than a decade ago. I’m so happy for his success!! He made an impression then!
