+Kai is my bias huh blacks can have alot of european dna due to slavery even if they have big lips, wide big nose peoples features means fuck all......
your 100 percent right with that . People think me and my sister are half siblings but we are full and my cousin people say she is Italian and her brother looks black but their full as well ..very common in mixed families ..so many people judge dna based on skin colour
Wow! Prob a family secret but the results don't lie. You're brave for taking it 👏🏼... I took my test last week, waiting for my results and will be posting it yay!
Hi, if I may offer an opinion here, the vast majority of black Americans will have between 10% and 30% European DNA whether they actually realise that or not. It is possible that you inherited the majority of your mothers 30% European DNA and your fathers 30% European DNA giving you the 54% you have and thus a phenotype to match, it is rare but not impossible. Another scenario is of course that your parents also have a high European DNA share but simply have not expressed those genes in appearance but you did.
Michael Luu No, not at all. Firstly the DNA ancestry tests tells you that you have a 30% match with people from Europe in their database not that you have 30% DNA from Europe. Secondly DNA does not work like you are suggesting, if I could explain t to you in a simpler form - Imagine the entire human genome represented by three balls. In Europeans those three balls are blue and in Africans the same three balls are black. Her father has the first ball blue, the second black and the third black giving a total of 33% European balls and 66% African balls. Her mother could have the first ball black, the second blue and the third black giving a total of 33% European balls and 66% African balls. A child born of those two parents could have the first ball blue, the second ball blue and the third ball black giving a total of 66% European balls and 33% African balls.
+Greeny202a that is not how dna works at all, when they're looking to determine someones ancestry they are looking for genetic markers on certain genes on the chromosomes. Each parent donates one chromosome for each pair, thus each parents ancestry will be be represented in the report. With your way of thinking, a 100% european male and a 100% african female have a child and its possible for the child to be 100% european, thats not true, both parents ancestry will be represented by their half of the chromosomes.
mikeyle Nonsense. You are talking about ancestry markers on particular chromosomes. For example in a Y-chromosomal test they test for MALE inherited markers on the Y-chromosome and in an mtDNA test the same but for FEMALE markers in the mitochondrial DNA. An AUTOSOMAL test on a female will test the fathers X xhromosome and the mothers X chromosome. For example a father could carry 99% African DNA and only 1% European DNA but carry the European blue eyed gene and the African oval hair follicle gene. The mother could also have 99% African DNA and 1% European DNA and carry the African brown eyed gene but the European round hair follicle gene. The child of these two parents could inherit the blue eyed gene from father and the round hair gene from mother therefore giving the child only 98% African DNA and 2% European DNA. You are naively thinking of the human genome being a set of instructions with European instructions at sight A and African instructions at site B. THAT IS NOT TRUE. The human genome has the same set of instructions in Europeans and Africans just different alleles on those same locations. Genetics is a much more difficult science than novices such as yourself understand.
Your Dad will ALWAYS be your dad, because he gave you love and care for you all the years of your life. As to whether or not he's your biological father, you'd need to have blood test to clear away any doubt. Remain strong, young lady...whomever contributed to your DNA, you are a lovely woman with life ahead to be lived and embraced. Parents are human, and far from perfect, but you were blessed to have that Dad stand for you no matter what, so as you continue the journey of exploring your biological lines, know that LOVE stands stronger than any test result, and LOVE will keep you through whatever may come down the road. Stay strong! New subbie...look forward to seeing your journey.
Woah, talk about keepin it real. You're dad is the man. If you questioned, he must have questioned, and he still stepped up no matter what. Tell your dad he's the man.
It's pretty rare for a black person to have Native American DNA, only 1 in 20 black americans have Native American DNA, there was a show on PBS I forgot what it was called but there was an episode uploaded on RUclips where they took the DNA from famous blacks like Chris Tucker, Don Cheadle, Oprah, and many others, and Chris Tucker was the only one who has any significant Native American DNA, and even then he only had 10%
Yeah you don't like those are both your parents, but dad sounds like a great guy to be a single dad and step up for absent mom, especially since you don't look like him.
Great video, thanks for sharing! If your father is your biological father, this test will definitely tell you that. In your DNA match list, he will come up as a match in the "Parent/Child" portion; I know because I have had both my parents tested. :)
+Yani This happens all the time with Caribbean's you have no reason to worry. My grand parents are the same colour as me, yet my Dad doesn't even look black. I never thought this strange or unusual. I just saw my dad as a throw back to a great great grandad.
Don't fall for the Native American stereotypes, I one time showed a picture of Andrea Corr to a person trying to get a tribal affiliation card. They asked me what tribe Andrea Corr belonged to and I said "The Celtic tribe". Cherokee is the most well-known tribe and the one that people will typically say when they think they have Native American ancestry. People don't tend to research tribes and where they were located and miss out on all the tribes, cultures, heritage and religions of the others.
Parents around the world never expected this to come ! It's about time, they come clean and start being honest to the ppl they should be the most honest with !!
Good luck on your quest! You are a beautiful woman and I'm sure that regardless of what the DNA test shows, your dad will always be your dad and you love him very much. I loved my dad, he passed when I was 16, but I also love my step dad who has raised me since I was 8! I'm 33 now and I wouldn't trade my (step)DAD for the world! Can't wait to see the DNA video
Nope. I actually purposefully said to myself that i wont claim anything that isnt obvious on my physical features (unlike the African and european ancestry that IS obvious, i just didnt know the percentages or countries) with out proof. And i was pleasantly surprised to find out i have 7% native American and 8% west asian. I had NOOOO idea!
Nice results, I'm Puerto Rican and I'm 52% European, 30% African, 13 percent Native American and 5 percent west Asia, neither result surprises me since Puerto Rican isn't a race but I self identify as a Afro Rican my mothers mom was half African/Spaniard born in P.R and my fathers mom was half Native American born in Puerto Rico, don't know too much about my grandfathers.
By the way, you are beautiful, and you have a stand-up man for a father. Even though he is not your biological father, he is a great guy for raising you as he did. It would seem that he probably knew the truth as well, yet still he was and is there for you. That is much to be grateful for.
Her parents would have to be extremely mixed on both sides for her to come out 54 percent European. I just don't get some of these people saying they could still be both her parents. They obviously really don't understand genetics.
amazing video and honestly the thing is that you are beautiful and knowing where you came from is something that I feel very close to as well, I think that no matter what you find out, it will give you some peace in your heart but you will still be the beautiful person that you are!
Yani, thank you so much for sharing. The percentages for my results are similar to yours. If you have any questions or ever want to talk, feel free. Have a nice day!
***** So what are people from India,Iran,Iraq and all of the middle east then? White? Because Caucasian isnt just European people or WHITE skin color you know. smh 'black' can be used as a race and colour. There are non-African Blacks called Negritos in South East Asia and the Australoid of Australia so what race are they? lmao
***** You said "If you look up the definition it would say race, 'black' {can be used} as a race and colour. " you just proved my point....Can be used as a race meaning there are other definitions in the U.S. Black,White are just Politically correct terms used not to offend your kind wih Actually scienticfic Terms Like Caucasoid,Negroid,Mongolid and Australoid. Obviously Negroid sounds to close to another N word, thats why they used "Black" or African American" Simple... Checkmate goodnight. .>=D
***** And thats exactly why your kind dont get anywhere in America. Ignorant and an unwillingness to evolve. " Because I don't have to expand my vocabulary," Oh that would make sense, I can see now why Ebonic is used instead of standard English in the majority of your community. haha =X
Yani, Your "Parents" are the ones who raised you, your "Biological Relatives are related to you through the Egg and/or Sperm donors'. Your Father or fathers are the one/ones who you respect because they taught you how to live a good life, your Dad or dads are the one or ones who loved you no matter what and you love him or them no matter what. Your "Family" are all the people who you love and who love you. All of them are important for their special place in your heart and your place in their heart. Never take anyone for granted...God put your soul/spirit in the body that would help it to learn his most important lesson of Love and Caring for his creation.
Interesting what truths are revealed thru DNA. I was able to find my mother's family and discover a few other things. Best of luck through your journey and ignore any negativity as best you can.
Hi Yani, I just got my DNA test and I was surprised also. I'm 62% African and 38% Caucasian. I am a light brown person but thought I had more African in me. I do want to say that I notice the American Indian that many of us hear about in our family does not show up. My great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee and you could see that in my Mom. Bottom line is persons of African descent appear to be mixed more than we thought in many cases.
62+38=100. your great grandmother was not Native American. DNA doesn't lie. my moms parents are 42% and 28% Native American, my dad is 20% native american. if it's in you, it will show up, if it doesn't show up, it's not in you.
Sapa Inti ... I looked over my Ancestory test I do have Native American in me; it's only 2% but I do have some of it in me. I was glad to see that but thought I had more Native American
My great Grandma was a Cherokee Indian. She raised my Mom for the first 6 years of her life. We would go to Pow Wows every year in honor of my great Grandmother. I always want to know more of Cherokees
Genetics are like a lottery. You never know what you gonna end up with. As a hairdresser I have had plenty of kids and adults that doesn't look like each-other. Parents dead straight hair, kid curly, and the other way around. If you didn't get it from your parents, it is prob coming from older relatives way back in the chain.
That's exactly what i was thinking, its not completely impossible. We also don't always look like our siblings, certain traits are passed on to certain children.
Hiphop101ize well that's a totally different story, which was not what we were pointing out. Plenty of people who belong to the same doesn't need to look like each other to be related. Oh and I don't look like my siblings, nor my parents, but people thinks my friends and I are related, tho we are not from the same ethnicity. And even if you don't share the same genes, you can still be much alike.
***** Yes very interesting and I love to re search ancestry etc. I even wanna do a DNA test to see what else may be hiding lol :P You know those who are really popular to take now because they proving mapping of where in the world, as well as diseases and things like that. tho I know many grows up with this romantic fantasy of being mixed or something else, and then they get all disappointed, but it is all worth it.
You have to take into consideration that a lot of black people themselves have a significant amount of white blood. Plus your parents are mixed so you coming out more white then anything shouldn't be such a surprise for you it is completely plausible. Your father is your father.
Both of your parents could have around a quarter white ancestry and still pass as fully black. You could have gotten that ~25% European ancestry with the 50% you got from each parent, because that 50% you get from each parent is pretty much random. Doesn't matter how far back the ancestry was, those genes could get passed down.
Nope go look at her next video she found out her black father wasn't her real father, it was a white man. Damn her mom did pops dirty cheating with white men while married to a black man
Barrio Azteca where did she say her dad was white in the other video.. because I looked at the video I must have missed it... I know she does not believe her current father is her biological dad
I really would NOT based things like "Who is my father" on this DNA test because your heritage can come from either side, even from the blackest of families, there can be European blood, even at 50%.
No matter what, the father who raised you seems like a great man whether he was you're biological father or not. 1) sorry about your troubled unanswered questions. 2) it's amazing how many families go through stuff like this. I read a study ,that back in the 50's, it said that 10% of babies born were to fathers who were not actually their biological father. Which is why one of the first things people say to new dads when the baby is born is,"the baby looks just like it's dad". Whether it's true or not, people say that to rid any doubt from the fathers mind that it's not his and should care for it. 3). However, no matter what our parents tell us, there is that primal instinct that tells us something is up, if we don't resemble our relatives. 4) I have a sibling that looks nothing like the rest of us. Sure enough, after 40 years, different dad. 5) it's amazing all these family lies that people thought they could get away with decades ago, their getting busted for now.
So, I would need to read more about this: But I read somewhere that those commercialized DNA tests measure how your ancestry is expressed in your particular DNA (so full siblings may get different results depending on how their DNA expresses itself. That's why they encourage siblings to each take their own test, rather than splitting the cost and just having one take it). If this is true then the test would measure how your ancestry is expressed in your particular DNA, rather than being any sort of indicator about who your parents are. I think the only way to prove paternity is to take a particular test for paternity. Anyways- I hope you were able to find the answers you were looking for! You have a beautiful family and I'm sure they love you VERY much!
Hi Yani. I'm in exactly the same position as you. I found out that my mum lied about who my dad is after 30 years. Insists that he is my dad and wants to continue the lie to save her own skin. I am on a journey at the moment to find my real dad. I want the truth. Truth sets you free!
+terryn queen I am a New York Adoptee and I have tested with AncestryDNA as well. Turns out that I am 76% African/20% European/2% Native American/1% Pacific Islander/1% West Asia. It was a great experience! I had no idea what to expect but now I know
I was so intrigued by the African portion. Particularly the range percentage because Nigeria showed up as my top match with a range of 42%!!! What I learned is that the Nation States listed in the African section is not to infer any National Identity per say. It makes sense because during the days of Slavery there was no Nigeria, Cameroon, or Ghana it was all Guinea. I find that given my top matches it seems as though the inference suggests that the bulk of my ethnic origins come from lower Guinea region encompassing West Central Africa. My top African matches are Nigeria, Cameroon/Congo, and Benin Togo.
That is interesting news to me my top match was Nigeria as well, but it was 19% so you have more Nigerian in you than me. I never got a percentage above 19 it was 19% or below. I am trying to get more into my background and stuff. I am still very new to it.
Hi Yani, from my understanding they can only test a female thru her mother . What I mean by that, is when they extract your DNA they can only pull out mom and grandmother, because females get their DNA from their mother. Grandma or Mom carries that European DNA. Males get their DNA from their father, but somehow they can test them for all 4 grandparents. Ask your Mom the take a DNA test.
Males get their DNA from both parents...they carry the x and y chromosome..So a full brother...ie, one conceived from both of her parents supposedly would present an accurate picture.
I have to watch part 2 of the video but I just wanted to say that it doesn't matter if you aren't related by blood to your parents. Your parents are the people who raise you, but I'm sure you know that. Also, mixed people look different, I myself am Japanese and German but my features are all Japanese. The only way that you can tell I'm part German is my height and shoulder width, which is bulkier than Japanese guys. I just sent away for my DNA kit from 23 and me, but I haven't got it yet. :)
you should try using gedmatch.com to cross compare your raw DNA data with some other populations. It really helped further my investigation into my DNA (perhaps complicating things a little, but also showing some smaller aspects in your DNA that don't come up on ancestry). There are tutorials on youtube on how to download your raw data from ancestry and upload them to Gedmatch. it's really cool to see more information. Best of luck in your journey, and remember DNA studies are not perfect representations of who we are.
You are brave and my heart goes out to you. I wish you mother was honest to you and your father, because it's very obvious that your father isn't your biological father. I don't think that finding out who your real father is will not change the relationship that you share with your father, because he was a good enough man to raise you knowing the possibility of him not being your biological father. Try to contact your mother, don't wait until it's too late, a lot of us make that mistake. Leaving stones un-turned can leave you with a sense of emptiness. Again, you are brave for sharing your story and results.
When you said it made you question whether your father is your real father... That's scary. I hope everything works out with your family taking the test.
After watching the rest of the video I feel bad for laughing because for you there is definitely something not panning out and your dad is a good man but seeing those pictures if it was me I'd have questions too... Good luck!!
Thanks for making this video. You should definitely get your parents to take the test. If anything, the results will either confirm what you always knew to give you closure. If he is your father, the test will say that you are parent and child.
+Jon Doemans you absolutely deserve to know they truth. I wish you the best on this journey. I have gone on a similar one and it's been enlightening. Just be prepared.
+Jon Doemans Sadly, no... There is no one else but once I get back my dad's results and have a definitive answer I may try to contact my mother and ask her if she's wants to tell me the truth... Other than that... Idk if I'll ever know the truth...
DNA testing has a lot of issues missing ancestry so don't be discouraged with the results of not having Native blood. MtDNA and autosomal testing miss a lot of key note ancestors so it is very possible they didn't lie about having native blood.
you have her eyes and his nose.DNA is a weird thing .I'm 67%native American ,23%African ,5%European,4% rest trace regions. my skin is white how the hell was that 5%enough to get me white.I'm the only white one in the family the majority look native and few with wavy hair like myself!
I was watching this show last week it was called finding our roots and LL Cool J had his DNA tested and found out his grandparents weren't is biological grandparents and he ended up finding out his mother was adopted but threw DNA he found his biological grand parents
+Bijon Hughes I saw that too, and people question the accuracy of these DNA tests because they want to buy into the fantasy they've lived with all their lives because its all they've known.
yani, I hope your results give/gave you some peace of mind but I would like to say it is possible to be 54% euro but have both black parents. Vanessa Williams has black parents but her DNA shows she is about 50% European.
+Theeverythingyouneed when I say black I mean some admixture of black. my daughter is 56% European and 42% African but in the US I would either say she is mixed or just black. in other words I was saying MAYBE both her parents have some of both European and African dna.
***** No. She can still be 50% European, if both of her parents are "black" Her "black" father is actually pretty mixed. Her black mother has more African ancestry. Both of her parents have African ancestry. Depends how admixed the parents are.
You are so lucky to have a great dad who raised you and took good care of you. My dad was very abusive and never cared for his family, all he cared about is his women.
Hi I'm new to your channel and I have a thought. You say that your parents told you that you have some Native American ancestry but it turns out that you have non at all. Well, i'm British and growing up, I was always told that I was 110% English and nothing else. They told me this so much that I didn't question it at all. Got talking to my Auntie one day and she revealed to me that my great Grandfather was from southern Ireland and my own Ancestry DNA test proved that to be fact. ...I only found out about this at age 30. Tediously long story short, just because there are rumours in a family of "we're native American" or my own "we're just English and nothing else" isn't always true and thank God for these DNA tests and their facts lol much love x
Hang on that last comment i made was a tad insensitive, i made that comment before you spoke about your parental situation. I hope you find out who your father is, they could still be your parents, because sometimes recessive genes show up randomly.. they call that a throwback where Im from. If not at least you had a loving father, thank you for sharing your story.
It is mathematically possible that he is. These tests look at your ancestral DNA. A paternity test involves both of you testing. Most Blacks carry a lot of DNA. It is recombined in new patterns during fertilization. Stay positive.
Dan O's World I am multiracial not biracial that's why I don't look more European.... I have taken the test and while my two prominent races are African and European the European is neck and neck with south Asian (India) which is why my features like eyes, hair are darker and it also explains my huge cheek bones!!! Lol I'm more Tia and Tamera mowry mixed looking than Mariah Carey mixed looking
Tish Lynn Oh okay, now I understand. That's cool. I'm Multi-racial also, but so are most AA, it's what's make us who we are. I'm 76% Sub-African, 19% European, 3% Native American, 2% native American/East Asian.
Tish Lynn I don't hate Africans, but I hate when they try put us African Americans into a box of claiming full African, when on average we're not. Some of us may be more African than others, some more white than others. But we are our own people with our own cultures and history. I love being AA, we're so diverse, just look at us, we range in so many admixtures and so many shades of brown. it's truly amazing.
Well, whatever happened or not, you're a beautiful human being. It took guts on your part to share this. Thank you. BTW a REAL Dad is the guy that raised you, biological or not.
Henry Louis Gates is 51% European, and he has two Black parents. It is possible you know since many African Americans are already infused with European dna. Your dad could be 60.... nevermind. I was typing this as you were talking, and then you held up the pic.... No way on God's green earth could your *FATHER* be your dad
Maybe it's possible that both parents had ABOUT a quarter or more of European in them and it ALL just got passed down to you. Maybe. But I am late to this video and will be checking for that update you mentioned.
That's very interesting I took my test on January 12 when did you and are you testing both your parents since you came out basically half black and white
+Bijon Hughes Hey! Thanks for commenting. My dad took the test in December but my mom has not taken the test... We're still waiting on the results for my dad.
She's beautiful. Whatever she is. It's a shame but also very exiting that some of us feel the need to discover our own histories. I'm waiting for my results.
Yani ... I will say this my Dad was African American and my Mom was part African American, part Italian > I'm still quietly shocked that I'm only 62% African American. My brother who has the same Mom & Dad has a higher percent of Caucasian in him. Sometimes the DNA does not get distributed evenly even with the same exact parents.
Ah!! I feel bad.. it's obvious they LIED to you. Those certainly are not both of your parents. If you could get one of your sisters to take the same test, it would tell for sure if your mother is your biological mother as well. I think if you take the DNA test through Ancestry.com they have some sort of match pool where you can find people to whom you are related. LL Cool J's mother found out that she was adopted this way, through DNA evidence. Wishing you the best. It's important to know who we are and who our people are.
+solatiumz You just heard what i said. Obviously you can pull out whatever variation of slave to slave master you want but the overwhelmingly likely scenario is a WHITE slave master and a BLACK slave. God get this through your thick skull. This scenario accounts for like 95% of the inbreeding during the slavery period.
solatiumz they weren't many black slave owners. Usually the Dutch freed slaves and being that they were once themselves slaves they would usually take family as "slaves" and not treat them as slaves.
YANI, YOU DESERVE TO KNOW WHO YOUR "BIOLOGICAL" PARENTS ARE. CASE CLOSED . THE DAD THAT RAISED YOU "HAS" TO ALWAYS BE YOUR DAD. YOUR DAD AND GRANDMA SOUND LIKE VERY, VERY GOOD FOLK!!!!! JUST GO WITH IT, AND IT'S EASIER JUST TO EMBRACE THE RESULTS. WISH YOU WELL, GIRL!!!
Your struggle in trying to understand how "two black parents" can produce a child who is 54% European stems from your belief that there actually exists "black" and "white" people. These are just socio-political terms. Now if you told me that you have two parents who are from Africa with no admixture, then yes, that would make no sense. As Fanon, a psychiatrist of African descent stated: "White" depends on its stability of the negation of "black" and neither exists without the other. Both came into existence at the moment of conquest.
there was an article in the New England Journal of Medicine describing African American genetics. Self-identified African Americans range from 10-80% European ancestry. The European ancestry usually comes from many generations prior to Jim Crow/Reconstruction era USA. You're black for social AND biological reasons. The social reason is that any African ancestry makes you black in the USA (based on the social construct) these results simply mean that your parents passed on European DNA to you that they already had. When you pass on your DNA you only pass on half of it. So for example when you have kids your eggs won't be 54% European. They will on average be 54% European. That means some will be 70% european some will only be 15%, etc. So now you see how two people who are black can have a child who's DNA is 54% white. you can also read the wikipedia article on genetic admixture of African Americans.
Children believe what their parents tell them, we are designed that way. If they tell us the sky is green we believe. This was a lie deeply ingrained by your mother. I'm so sorry to be blunt but this is what happened to me. I know it's hard to accept but you are bi-racial. it's tough when you've been told a different story all of your life. I hope for you that some of your relatives of the European side come up as matches on your ancestry.com. That will be very very helpful for you in gaining additional knowledge and processing this as your truth. Please update, I saw your other video and I'm curious as to how you're getting along. As you know, my story is very similar to yours. You look quite a bit younger than me so it appears that you have come upon this knowledge at an early stage in life. Use this information and knowledge to accept who you are and set yourself free. My mother treated me terribly all of my life and I never knew why I would always question this. As I got a bit older I realized that there was definitely nothing wrong with me, and I had done nothing to her, but still could not understand or grasp why she treated me so bitterly. Since you've seen my youtube video you would know now why, as I do now. Not sure how your mother was, I'm speaking directly of my experience. I'm still processing. Now, I see and know what everyone else saw, that I was biracial. I was blinded to this my whole life because of the constant lies told. Some of my siblings aren't taking it well never have. If you want to video chat, (I know this sounds weird), but many times only people who have experienced this can understand the depth of which this affects someone. I'm open to chatting. God bless you, be well.
She may be genetically biracial but she is not culturally Biracial. There's a huge difference. She has a different experience from someone who has 2 parents are different racially and culturally. I have no idea why she is so confused about this, it happens all the time with African Americans/Caribbean's.
It could just be that your mom and dad are both mixed. Just remember legally to be considered black in America (I'm assuming you're from the States here) you only have to be 1/16th (I believe?) of African Descent. Genetics can be very confusing sometimes.
It's OK dear, I'm a bastard with a different father than my bother and sisters. I know because years ago I took a dna test along with my sister who looks like me, I told her it was for a class project. Turned out we were half-brother and sister. Nobody in the family knows, but I feel some have suspected, I'm a bit darker than the rest of the family. This past Christmas, my mother got me an ancestry test kit, now the whole family is waiting for me to take the test and share the results. I don't know what to do.
some people's phenotype doesn't always match up with what the genes say. for ex. your dad who is afro panamanian could've been genetically 45% African and 55% european
I know this isn't the time to write a comment like this, when you are obviously upset, questioning your father. But, you said 'after 30 years..' I honestly thought you were a teenager, you look so young!
Im starting to think these test biased. Every mixed person that has no doubt black and white mixture they all show up 50% European and 47 or less African and the 3% some Native or Chinese. I'm wondering if they fixed or biased...cause all the mixed people videos show this.
One of my cousins has two black Jamaican parents her sister is dark but curly hair & the mom is dark with curly hair. My cousin is light with light eyes & curly hair & our grandfather is whitish so you could be your dad's daughter. My cousins aunt has 3 children 1 dark 1 brown & one mad pale, both parents are dark & the father has light eyes. So sometimes these things happen & I'm 100% sure there was no cheating.
DNA is very random whatever is already established within your family's DNA is shuffled randomly like a card deck for each individual child. therefore same family could have light skinned children with dark eyes while the next have dark skin and light eyes. all DNA established factors are present it's just whatever is chosen within that is what physically is drawn from your family's deck of DNA cards.
Two dark skin African American parents can both be mixed with European ancestry. Skin color does not denote actual heritage or lineage.
It does for the most part. Another thing is the hair, lips and nose. Basically the phenotype gives it away.
@@feyiplus4500 The nose??
Black people, many pure african Black people, have small narrow noses.
Many caucasians have large noses.
If her parents have both 30% european dna she would have 30%
Michael Luu
No, not at all.
Firstly the DNA ancestry tests tells you that you have a 30% match with people from Europe in their database not that you have 30% DNA from Europe.
Secondly DNA does not work like you are suggesting, if I could explain t to you in a simpler form -
Imagine the entire human genome represented by three balls.
With your way of thinking, a 100% european male and a 100% african female have a child and its possible for the child to be 100% european, thats not true, both parents ancestry will be represented by their half of the chromosomes.
mikeyle
Nonsense.
+Greeny202a You are so blatantly wrong that its funny!
Both your black parents could carry a lot of white DNA that randomly got expressed in you.
not likely
Nah it happens quite often.
There have been African people who produce a white baby. and White people who produce black babies it can happen!
Jenni... don't be so Dumb...white people cannot have black babies duh
Jac G yes they can......
Oh wow, that's going to be interesting/scary since my dad's mom took it too, we'll see who get's matched as child/parent. Thanks!
+Yani did he match?
Believe your ancestors!!!!!!!!!!
+Yani I hope you guys have a great resolution.
Thanks for sharing your time with us.
Loved your video. I hope you find everything you're looking for with your beautiful self!
My parents are from the Dominican Republic. My results were 45% African, 40%European, 8%west Asian, 7%Native American.
Did you suspect you were 1/16th Native American?
Because looks don't necessarily match DNA.
amazing video and honestly the thing is that you are beautiful and knowing where you came from is something that I feel very close to as well, I think that no matter what you find out, it will give you some peace in your heart but you will still be the beautiful person that you are!
Yani, thank you so much for sharing. The percentages for my results are similar to yours. If you have any questions or ever want to talk, feel free. Have a nice day!
I love most of these comments so educated and kind hearted. to the video maker good luck with everything!
Is it me or a lot of Blacks claim Native American blood yet they look so shocked when there not. LMAO
Where did this dumb myth come from?
***** Black is a color, Negroid is a race and African-American is your Nationality and Ethnic group.
***** So what are people from India,Iran,Iraq and all of the middle east then? White? Because Caucasian isnt just European people or WHITE skin color you know. smh
'black' can be used as a race and colour.
There are non-African Blacks called Negritos in South East Asia and the Australoid of Australia so what race are they? lmao
***** You said
"If you look up the definition it would say race, 'black' {can be used} as a race and colour. "
you just proved my point....Can be used as a race meaning there are other definitions in the U.S. Black,White are just Politically correct terms used not to offend your kind wih Actually scienticfic Terms Like
Caucasoid,Negroid,Mongolid and Australoid.
Obviously Negroid sounds to close to another N word, thats why they used "Black" or African American" Simple...
Checkmate goodnight. .>=D
***** No, this what you said before.
*African American u mean, 'black is a race'. And yes I totally agree with your point."
lmao
***** And thats exactly why your kind dont get anywhere in America. Ignorant and an unwillingness to evolve.
" Because I don't have to expand my vocabulary,"
Oh that would make sense, I can see now why Ebonic is used instead of standard English in the majority of your community.
Thanks for sharing your results.
wow... I love your story.
you are a very smart girl. Can you share the DNA result of grandmother?
Dorcia Parham that could mean your great grandma could have been 16% native do you know what tribe she descends from
My great Grandma was a Cherokee Indian.
MaFiATEXAS2013 Exactly!
+Gille87 it's one thing if you don't look like eachother, it;'s another thing if you don't share the same genes.
How do you study for the test. I always like to study ahead of time to make a good grade on a test.
Hi Yani. I'm in exactly the same position as you. I found out that my mum lied about who my dad is after 30 years. Insists that he is my dad and wants to continue the lie to save her own skin. I am on a journey at the moment to find my real dad. I want the truth. Truth sets you free!
wow thank you for your openess, hope it helps folks.
That's really cool I am adopted and I got my results back and found out i was 80% African, 18% European, 1% Native American and 1% Pacific islander.
+terryn queen I am a New York Adoptee and I have tested with AncestryDNA as well. Turns out that I am 76% African/20% European/2% Native American/1% Pacific Islander/1% West Asia. It was a great experience! I had no idea what to expect but now I know
That is awesome, that is a lot in you lol.
You can test yourself against your siblings. They can look at see if you share both parents. Without testing your parents.
Honey, you had me straining my eardrums. Lol.
AWWW i HOPE YOUR RESULTS ARE POSITIVE
Good luck!!
it can happen lol because they may not claim biracial but many are lol
+Proudly West-Indian When r u going to post your ancestry DNA results???
+Bootney Lee Farnsworth Good Questing.
D.MYST I loved your dancing at the end, HILARIOUS
ERIN GO BRAGH!!!
Welcome to the family!
Thanks for making this video. You should definitely get your parents to take the test. If anything, the results will either confirm what you always knew to give you closure. If he is your father, the test will say that you are parent and child.
Is there another relative on your mothers side? Elderly cousins will often start talking once you approach them with questions.
Is there another relative on your mothers side? Elderly cousins will often start talking once you approach them with questions.
Awesome video. I am anxious to take the test as well. Even though I am biracial I believe there may be a shocker or two. 💛
What was the update on this story?
DNA testing has a lot of issues missing ancestry so don't be discouraged with the results of not having Native blood. MtDNA and autosomal testing miss a lot of key note ancestors so it is very possible they didn't lie about having native blood.
Your hair texture and bone structure looks very european with african features also
Amazing video, thank you for sharing your experience :).
you have her eyes and his nose.DNA is a weird thing .I'm 67%native American ,23%African ,5%European,4% rest trace regions. my skin is white how the hell was that 5%enough to get me white.I'm the only white one in the family the majority look native and few with wavy hair like myself!
I was watching this show last week it was called finding our roots and LL Cool J had his DNA tested and found out his grandparents weren't is biological grandparents and he ended up finding out his mother was adopted but threw DNA he found his biological grand parents
+Bijon Hughes
I saw that too, and people question the accuracy of these DNA tests
because they want to buy into the fantasy they've lived with all their
lives because its all they've known.
yani, I hope your results give/gave you some peace of mind but I would like to say it is possible to be 54% euro but have both black parents. Vanessa Williams has black parents but her DNA shows she is about 50% European.
+Chaka Stallings
True. Also, Vanessa's father is pretty mixed and light skinned.
yeah, you're right, her father looks like he could be mixed.
Chaka Stallings
Yes, he's pretty admixed.
+Theeverythingyouneed when I say black I mean some admixture of black. my daughter is 56% European and 42% African but in the US I would either say she is mixed or just black. in other words I was saying MAYBE both her parents have some of both European and African dna.
*****
No. She can still be 50% European, if both of her parents are "black"
Her "black" father is actually pretty mixed.
Her black mother has more African ancestry.
Both of her parents have African ancestry.
Depends how admixed the parents are.
please take a DNA test to verify your father's identity
You are so lucky to have a great dad who raised you and took good care of you. My dad was very abusive and never cared for his family, all he cared about is his women.
Not to mention that the island is shared with Hiatii.
By the way, you're a babe lol
Hang on that last comment i made was a tad insensitive, i made that comment before you spoke about your parental situation. I hope you find out who your father is, they could still be your parents, because sometimes recessive genes show up randomly.. they call that a throwback where Im from. If not at least you had a loving father, thank you for sharing your story.
It is mathematically possible that he is. These tests look at your ancestral DNA. A paternity test involves both of you testing. Most Blacks carry a lot of DNA. It is recombined in new patterns during fertilization. Stay positive.
+Paul Idson I tried to view her page and could not locate it. I am sorry to hear that. However, a child loved is a child that has found family.
I'm not laughing out of disrespect but as a mixed race person myself when you said you grew up with two black parents I was like "girl please lol!!!"
I'm 60% African 17% European 11%Asian(India) and then the rest is small amounts of Native American and Portuguese
Peace to you Queen. Love and light on your journey.
So what are the full results?
You only said 50% European
she said ans showed on her phone 45 percent black
Jennifer I think it showed 30% Scandinavia 17% British and 8% West Europe.
also when a DNA says you have Eastern European can be up to or more than 10 countries a lot of people don't realize that
Wtf you so damn beautiful😩😩 God took his time creating you😩😩
Maybe it's possible that both parents had ABOUT a quarter or more of European in them and it ALL just got passed down to you. Maybe. But I am late to this video and will be checking for that update you mentioned.
You are so brave and beautiful for this. I love these videos.
That's very interesting I took my test on January 12 when did you and are you testing both your parents since you came out basically half black and white
+Bijon Hughes Hey! Thanks for commenting. My dad took the test in December but my mom has not taken the test... We're still waiting on the results for my dad.
+Micheal Jackson I would love to watch her video, do you recall her name?
+Micheal Jackson I watched her video and I definitely see the similarities smh... Thanks so much for getting back to me!
It's important to know who we are and who our people are.
why not do a paternity DNA test it will tell you if he is your father
This would make a lot of sense. A white man prob raped the mom like how my great grandfather raped my great grandmother.
I don't know maybe the mom had an affair either way the mom needs to open up
TheonlyHoneyBadger
You do realise that there were white slaves and black slave owners?
Both came into existence at the moment of conquest.
your results are similiar to mine im more european than black which was kinda crazy to me, i wasnt expecting to have that much european in me
+tracy s Come over to France, sweet thing! You'll be more than welcome!!
there was an article in the New England Journal of Medicine describing African American genetics. Self-identified African Americans range from 10-80% European ancestry. The European ancestry usually comes from many generations prior to Jim Crow/Reconstruction era USA. You're black for social AND biological reasons. The social reason is that any African ancestry makes you black in the USA (based on the social construct)
these results simply mean that your parents passed on European DNA to you that they already had.
Only because she was lied to and not given a chance to be culturally anything else...such as her true identity, and merge the two!!! SMH
me and you kind of look alike! I will post a vid of myself when i get my results!
It could just be that your mom and dad are both mixed. Just remember legally to be considered black in America (I'm assuming you're from the States here) you only have to be 1/16th (I believe?) of African Descent. Genetics can be very confusing sometimes.
something is fishy... especially when you showed the picture of your parents. Either one of them isn't your biological parent or neither of them are
It's OK dear, I'm a bastard with a different father than my bother and sisters.
Who ever took. Care of u and showed u. Love and Made u feel elcome is your parent. Your dad is your dad no matter what
I know this isn't the time to write a comment like this, when you are obviously upset, questioning your father. But, you said 'after 30 years..' I honestly thought you were a teenager, you look so young!
Like the spices in a dish, how mixing peoples creates such a lovely woman.
You do look quite stereotypically mixed? I would have never guessed you were anything more than 50% Black?
Im starting to think these test biased. Every mixed person that has no doubt black and white mixture they all show up 50% European and 47 or less African and the 3% some Native or Chinese. I'm wondering if they fixed or biased...cause all the mixed people videos show this.
Hmm that's interesting so that's why some siblings resembles one parent while the other may resemble the other.
If he's your father, it would say he's your father on the Ancestry. My daughter is listed as my daughter and I'm listed as her mother.
So sometimes these things happen & I'm 100% sure there was no cheating.
a mix of european and african looks often like native american
DNA is very random whatever is already established within your family's DNA is shuffled randomly like a card deck for each individual child. therefore same family could have light skinned children with dark eyes while the next have dark skin and light eyes. all DNA established factors are present it's just whatever is chosen within that is what physically is drawn from your family's deck of DNA cards.
I don't know what to say but you're right. Two parents of that hue can't produce a child that looks and is 54% European.
Your results are a prime example of genotype (inherited genetics) appearing contra to your phenotype (physical characteristics)
You look beautiful! Thanks for sharing
Coolness, you guys look like the Jackson 5!
any updates? is he your dad?
it's important to note that these things aren't 100 percent accurate and can leave out a handful of ancestors
