More calasthetics plz
and calisthenics too! ( ;) )
You guys have such cool parks in your area. Those dip bars look amazing!
Yes they are good, but maybe for someone a bit bigger than me. They are a little wide apart and the bars are a bit big, but can't complain... it's pretty sweet.
Simnett Nutrition oh man, they need to make narrower bars for smaller guys like us 😭. I tend to run into that problem too
I think this settles it. We need the beginning calisthenics with Derek eBook.
More beginner calisthenics vids pls :)
Trial and error calisthenics is how I've been approaching things, but the start of these calisthenics tips videos is super helpful. I would love to see some full beginner routines, you convinced me to get some rings for some progressive bodyweight workouts (8 pull up max, gymnast hold for ~1 min, wildly varied amounts of ring pushups and so forth).
Great video, I like that you showed us how to do it and not just tell us how. We need more videos like these.
Would definetly love more of these
Definitely 23
lolol 23 definitely
My current level: 3 chin-ups and 1 pull-up. 😂😂
That is great!
Laszlo Vegh is that normal that After 3 month of calisthenics i do only 8 pulls up (i work them two Times à weekend)
And i had good base (im a boxe so i did some before that)
Great! Honestly just keep at it, maybe a year ago I could do 3 pull ups now I can manage 10 and I haven't been always that dedicated because of work or access to gyms. 💪😀
flyshob o : It takes time. But maybe you should increase the volume by training more often. Doing pullups and dips every second day for 40-60 reps (all sets together) really helped me.
Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely keep these tips in mind as I start my calisthenics journey.
Duuuuuude! What the heck was that upside down pull-up?! 😮 That was awesome!
You are literally awesome mate. Always funny and informative. Trying to get more into calesthenics as I've fallen out of love with the gym recently. Keep up the good work! 🌱💪
Thanks for the comment. Yes, it sounds like it's time to switch things up for you!
Floor supported L-Sit and V-Sit progressions also built up my triceps a hella lot. As you lean further back for the V-Sit, you're lengthening the lever between deltoids and wrists. It hits the long head of the triceps like crazy 💪
Thanks again for an awesome AMM, Derek. Your channel is my favorite!
WOw, this is great. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, we did enjoy your counting skills :P I like seeing your little mistakes. Very entertaining. It's winter here so I just watch your videos to live vicariously through you...I hope you don't mind.
I just got to 5 pull-ups!! Being able to do one pull-up was my day one goal when I started my health & fitness journey last year so this is very exciting for me haha
Love your videos ! I went vegan 5 month ago and lost 10 kg! Also started work on my movements and its so much fun! Keep it up
Loved seeing more on calisthenics for beginners, with a toddler it's getting a bit hard to use my home gym as he just wants to help me with my dead lifts and squats 😂 and then I found your channel and wondered why id never thought of doing workouts at the playground so I've been trying to do my upper body at the playground and I'm loving it so much, and will love it much more when the weather warms up in spring
I can do 0 pull ups. Limitless reps.
Love the off the cuff DMB lyric. Good video, esp for beginners; would love to see you dive further into calisthenics. Would enjoy a series on how you personally progressed through your more advanced movements (handstands, muscle ups, etc).
I love the tricep extension exercise bc it also really engages your core
Hey! I'm such a big fan. :) I'm about to start calisthenics next week because I've been quite busy this week with school stuff. I'm able to do 20 push-ups and about 30 at max, the same number with squats. But I struggle a lot with pull-ups maybe due to my lack of strong grip and back strength. I can only do 1 half pull-up and 1-2 chin-ups. Thank you for taking the time for this. :)
Would love to see more calisthenics workouts, especially for beginners and maybe even “moderate” practitioners! As well, what skill based movement(s) did you first learn, ie handstand push ups, levers, muscle ups, etc?
been on the calisthenic grind myself! Your front lever is amazing props to you!
Do a video on how to build a strong core for beginners!
and also how to manage reps and sets for optimal muscle growth.
Legit I paused the video 1:15 to write this. Beginner workouts? hell yes man. I found you when I was a carnivore and you inspired me to go vegan. You made it an easy transition for me and now you motivating me even more. I dont have much but your videos give me more than anything i could buy. NEVER STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! Oh guess i should ask a qustion: How can i stay motivated to work out when i feel healthy w/o working out?
There definitely are 2 Dereks: the performer and the editor. It's good to see how you don't try to hide your "mistakes", the common use of editing. Instead, you use editing to highlight your mistakes hahaha
A month ago I could hit 20 pull ups on a good day, then injured myself and had to take a break, now I can only hit 12 or so. Crazy how easily the stamina goes away! Also, I'd love to see a video on a good progression towards learning handstands. I can never stay up for even a second!
I recently came of off an injury and I'm building back up to where I was (and beyond baby!) But I wanted to know your experience with training while coming back from an injury. Calisthenic workouts are dope and I'd love to see more (My level is Late Beginner - Early Intermediate stage)
I love that leg movement at the 20th pull up. And the counting skill is on point :D awesome video as always derek. i practice at the moment on my first muscle up and free handstand. pullups i can do is like 3x12 reps and push ups 3x15 and dips 3x12 reps. so maybe you could make a calisthenics videos for advanced beginners (especially focusing on technique?). thanks in advance.
I am a beginner in calisthenics but have 3 years bodybuildung experience and would like to see workouts for beginners and advanced. But it would also be great to see your push/pull/leg split in one playlist. I know you have some videos about your pull and leg workout but it would be nice to see this split in one playlist. :)
Have a nice day :)
Great video! More beginner calisthenics w/progressions and body part-specific exercise variations please!
so this answered my qustion i posted on another video. full body work out outs for me for now
Now this is a fantastic idea. A q&a with demos of the answers. A much more visual approach instead of being told to just bang out more of a certain exersice. This should continue mate. Very good!
We’re feeling the smoke from the fires here in Washington too 😞 Clean air can be so easy to take for granted
Woooohoooooooo! Haven't been able to watch your videos from this one on... So now I get to binge watch until the last one :D
I would love some more workouts. I have been practicing calisthenics for about 5 months.
Man love the chalisthenics u have been such a fitness insperation and im so glad i found chalisthenics. I went from being able to do 3 pullups now i can do 20 and mucleup. It really has become a passion and i would love to see some more. Would love to se progression to the front lever and hear about your experiance on it.
I just want to say that you are doing a such a great job on all your videos and are an inspiration to many. I always learn something new from you. Congrats!
That video motivates me so bad to use my bodyweight more for my workouts!! I used to train only with weights but you really motivate me to use my body!! We have so many ourdoor parks here in austria and they are for free!! Gonna start tomorrow for sure at home!! Hope this corona thing comes to an end as quick as possible.. Thanks for the tips!! Greets from austria
More Calisthenics would be awesome thanks man! I have just started calisthenics just over a month ago and would love some tips! One love.
Hey Derek, I have been weight training for years now but I've only started calisthenics because of you! Thank you it is so fun and I am getting stronger. Could you do an intermediate calisthenics video with a variety of exercises for people who want to get stronger like you? Sending you some vegan love :D
I have a good idea for a video. film yourself trying a certain calisthenic movement that youre not fully able to do. and track your progress over a few months and do a compilation video of the fails until you suceed
The fails will be something everyone could relate to and seeing your hustle over time would be some strong motivation for alot of people
A year late but yes! More calisthenics videos, you inspire me homeboy 🤙🏽
Great video and thanks for the tricep exercises!! Can’t wait to try he extensions don’t know why I didn’t think of that lol gunna try the pull-up challenge!
Let me know how it goes. I feel like I can do more than 18.5 in the right conditions. At least there is definitely room to improve! Thanks for the message.
Great video Derek! Is there any chance of including Crystal in a beginners style video? I have been working on bodyweight strengthening but struggle on 1 chin up! And I remember seeing Crystal in a couple of previous videos where she used a band. I think that would be beneficial for those of us who are really at the beginning!
Front lever tutorial would be very helpful. I think this amm episode was one of the best one so far!
I am trying to achieve handstand push-ups, I have been doing negatives but am not seeing much progress, I can do roughly 2-5 handstand push-ups against the wall, but I can’t do any freestanding I feel like I am so close but I have been practicing and have made almost no progress in the last 4 months and I started practicing about 6 months ago for the handstand push-ups.
By the way great video man 👍🏻 support from Canada 🇨🇦
Do more calisthenics videos please. These are awesome.
I would love to see your journey learning some advance skills like planche
Great stuff!
damn i wish i was a man so i could work out at the park in this summer heat topless
Well lets get these laws changed bruva
Jordan O'Connor LOL 😂
Sorry, the next best thing is sweaty boobs and a sports training band/bra.
I wish clothing was optional so when it's hot I can just take my clothes off. It helps a lot
Great tips! Thank you so much Derek! 🌞🌿
It'll be cool to see some workout cycle ideas ! Im a beginner in the calesthenics but im in pretty good shape already ! My only weak point is pull up !!!! Thanks buddy !
More calisthenics stuff! This was a great video
The coahican valley is burning!!!!
I got interested in calisthenics because of you, Derek! I'm super duper beginner (0 pull-ups, 0 push ups with correct form, with bad form I could do some). I got myself rings and train australian pull ups with them now and do negatives and static holds. The good thing is there is lots of progression to be made :D. Haha, let's see how this pans out.
Yay!! I love calisthenics. Thank you! I'm a beginner (regaining lost strength), and I have a lot of trouble getting any pulling movements. I used to be a rock climber, so I thought I'd regain my pulling strength easily, but no. It's not happening for me.
Amazing I'm so good at doing that. I jump into things and let myself down slowly all the time! (; Great advice brothaaaa. You da best
Yeah more calisthenics ! :D last time I did 17 Pull ups, now working for front lever and flag if you can help with some new videos :D
The front lever has given me huge issues. I also don’t always have access to an elevated bar when I am motivated to work towards it because I’m traveling. Will you do a video for workouts I can do in a hotel room that will progress me towards the front lever? Thanks Derek keep up the good work!
Love your calisthenics vlogs in the nature! And more recipes, please!
Two videos in one day! You're the best Derek.
Hey Derek, love your channel!! Wondering if you could do a video on complete, incomplete and complementary proteins as i feel like a lot of people would find it informative, especially being vegan :)
Crazy to do the pullups test, at the end of your work out. Lol. Do at the beginning :). Great video
Yeah love these calisthenics videos. Im working on muscle ups & front levers
NICE! It will be so worth it.
In the middle of the night here in Sweden so gonna have to save this one but i bet its grate
Svalt och skönt idag! Har du något utegym i närheten? :)
zoorrken eey🖐🏼 ja faktiskt fins några pullupbars på en camping i närheten. Själv då?
Härligt! Jo.
Im working out 6 days a week 2-3 times a day. This year jumped from 0 chinups to wide grip pullups. Pushups was 3-4 now doing diamond, reverse hand and sphinx. First workout is 6-7am next 17-19 and weekends have lunch workout too. Progress came through repetition within 24h, rest days are rare even thou over 40 years of age. Time between sets is longer but try to keep muscles in highload daily.
You inspire me to get in really good shape! Left off at 21 pullups in a row last year and would love to get that number to 25! Keep uploading brother!
Great video man! Right now im focussing on being able to do more pull ups and chin ups and dips. But im really struggeling with finding the right structure and weekly program so def gonna try your push pull legs split!
LMFAO your too funny hahaha the sweat remarks made me laugh so hard. I would LOVE to see tutorial videos on muscle up,handstand,l sit, straddle etc progressions. I think that would help alot of people out who want to take their calisthenics to the next level🙏🤸💪 keep up the good work brother.
Who said Mondays had to be bad.. TGIM
You make calisthenics look fun. Monkey bars would be killer for the shoulders!
My question is: If you could make any small animal as large as a cow, which animal would you choose and why?
Cole Hastings this is great
Anthony Young haha thanks. I think mine would be a penguin. Can you imagine human sized penguins roaming around? Hahaha shit would be crazy
Honey badger! They'd rule the world :-).
Bloxeh I think I'd lose my mind
Cole Hastings Tardigrades (water bears) are technically animals and they can survive in space and are basically indestructible so yeah them
this video is edited so nicely! i hope you didn’t get sunburnt :)
2 pull ups and 6 chin ups. Really want to focus on my pulling movements! Also brilliant video, thanks!
Absolutely love your videos. I’ve been struggling to make progress recently, this work out has been a game changer. Thank you, you’re an inspiration!
Please film more calisthenics videos for beginners. It would be really cool if you could suggest a workout routine for overweighted beginners that can’t even do 1 pull up (nor a chin up). Would you do that, please? Keep up the excelent job and congrats for those “23” pull ups, i would love to do even 19. Haha
intermediate calisthenics, please do full workouts. Im struggling with ideas for what to do when i get to the gym. SO could you please do some videos on full workouts.
I’m in the Fraser Valley, BC and yesterday got to 39*c.
This is super helpful for me. I basically have no upper body strength but know that I can work on some of these to get stronger! Thanks Derek!
With regards to the guy who can only do 4 pull ups, I started with cluster sets that helped me massively. 2 pull ups 15 seconds rest 2 pull ups for 8-10 times.
Awesome video! We have so much smoke here in Nor Cal so it was interesting that you have fires that far north. 88 degrees is a spring day. Love the training tips. I can do 10+ pull ups but no muscle ups yet and that’s my goal for 2018. Thanks for the great videos!
Keep the workout vids coming
Awesome. I've been looking forward to these.
Great vid. I'd like it if you covered some calisthenic ab workouts, and an intro to movement on rings for beginners. Back to basics. Keep 'em coming D!
Absolutely love this video, would really like it if you did more calisthenics content, actually found your channel through searching for vegan calisthenics athletes in the first place
How to get LSits, how to get to 25 pullups, How to Handstand, how to full bridge? ... All from beginners :)
and lastly How to be you? 🌿🌱😂
Would love more calisthenics videos!!! I am a complete beginner 😅
So appreciative that I found this channel! You are an amazing teacher!
He is taken. Just joking.
Definitely more calisthenics please
Front lever and dragon flag!!!!!
Will you be making a tutorial for packing shoulders and proper pull-up form anytime soon?
Great video Derek!
Thank you for making something like this!! I'm wanting to check out calisthenics, but never knew what to do. Thank you for also doing mods, cause I'm a true beginner!
Yeees more of these pls
I'd love you to lead us through the progress of getting into calisthenics! I'm a female beginner and don' t want to give up....tips and passing on your knowledge and wisdom would be a huge help :) mucho thanks
Calisthenics parks are so cool! There should be one or more in every city.
Edit: I am training mostly the basics and just trying to get stronger. I struggled a little bit with increasing my reps on dips and pullups, because I gained some weight, but doing high volume on these movements every second day helped me a lot.
Wanna see full workouts!
very helpful!!! Huge thanks!!!
I would love 88F, it's triple digits down here in Texas 🔥🔥🔥 😂 Seriously though, awesome video that came at a perfect time for me 👍
Haha, I can't imagine.
Hey Derek my main man, loving your content for awhile now. Was hoping you could do a video on high intensity workouts e.g. HIIT? Also your views on this kind of training? (If you haven't already covered that topic) peace from Ireland brudda ✌
