The oldsmobile v8 was the best engine . I was a gm mechanic and one mechanic said the olds had the best engine and one mechanic said no way but i asked him how many chevy pontiac buick engines had he seen replaced and on each one he said a few then i asked how many olds engines and you could hear crickets and then he said none. I had a 260 engine that went over 300 thousand miles but i was sick of having no power to pass with so i put a 350 olds in it and that made me happy!!!!!!!
I had a Ford 3/4 ton truck that originally delivered beer in Marienville, PA & it had the 300 straight 6. With something over 300,000 miles on it I swapped it out with the 240 version of the same motor that I believe originally powered a taxi cab. I drove it for a couple more years before the truck just fell apart around the motor. At one time I also had a Dodge van with the 225 slant 6 motor until the van became unfixable in its old age. When I retired the van I started the motor, threw a brick on the gas pedal & went into my garage to watch what happened. After about 10 minutes it just ground to a halt either from over heating or stress of some kind. It never broke, just started to slow down & seized up.
The small block Chevy V-8 was also made in a 400 cu in version. I took the factory supplied version 305 cu in motor out of my '82 Silverado & installed a 400 with better breathing 350 heads & a lumpy cam shaft designed for RV use.
I find the first part of this laughable. It shows the Chevy V-8, but also a Ford V-10 and somebody's in line 6. Obviously put together by someone clueless about auto engines.
AI --> Artificial Ignorance !!! LOL Maybe all of this ''WRONG'' information helps get a comment like this one?? Showing 16 cylinder aircraft engine blocks calling them Chevrolet LS 5.7's LAF Never any proof or Data- just silly opinions.
Chryslers 3.3 v6

I quit watching when he's talking about chevy v8's, and showing v10's and v12's. Poor editing.
Yes, not to mention a Chrysler Slant-6. The AI talking about a "wee eight" is priceless.
Stupid to see a slant 6 (Chrysler engine) then see a Mustang in same sentence.
Why are you showing me engines you are not talking about??
All great engines, but a Slant-6 isn't even broken in until about 200,000 miles...l
LS is my facorite
