Thank you! I have been searching all over, trying to find out that one thing, no one else showed (3:05-08), were you threaded the string through that little opening. Very good instruction and camera work. Thanks again, as you sure were a great help! Working on a 1986 GMC High Sierra 2500 truck.
Thanks for mentioning the year of the truck in the description. The first video I watched failed to mention it anywhere so I didn't know if his configuration was going to match mine. Your 1984 is going to match my 1981 C10, so I guess I'm going to have to pull the radio after all - didn't think I'd have to. Thanks for the video.
I just spent 20 minutes trying to figure this out. smfh Didn't realize the cable went around that screw bezel and then down to the shift collar. Thank you, sir!
wow thanks this is the first video i see that goes staight to the point fix the problem. thank you u are great no issues I am going to try it on my c10
So I have a question at the column on my automatic I can put it into all the gears but it's not switching down at the transmission is there a prindle switch I need to know about?
I was following your vid but my shift indicator bracket doesn’t have that bottom circle piece so there is no way to keep the cable falling out. I can’t find that replacement part anywhere. Any suggestions?
Maybe a screw could be used there instead, or glue something in place there to guide the cable. It's part of the gauge bezel if I remember right. So, I don't assume they are sold separately.
@@BurnoutsAndRotorblades awesome, I was looking to buy a new dakota bezel and a cluster so i’ll just put the indicator in when I get those, thanks a lot brother!
91 crew cab had the 4 speed selector indicator since they were the only year you could get a 1 ton square with a 4 speed auto. On a different note can you put a 4 speed gear selector indicator into a 73-81? Or are the screw holes for the indicators in different spots between 73-81 and 82-91?
@BurnoutsAndRotorblades Well that also answers another question I had bouncing around in my head involving a 4 speed auto swap into the 73-81 squares then. Also how good is that Gear Vendor unit you got in this rig? I can't help but see the controller mounted to the underside of the dash.
It makes 70mph on the highway with a big block possible. However. . . . I'm thinking for the same money and a little more work the swap to a 6l80E would be the way to go. I'm honestly thinking about doing the swap to make this ride a little more highway friendly.
@@BurnoutsAndRotorblades I'm considering getting the GV for my 85 C30 crew cab dually to help the mileage whenever I finally get her on the road if the rot doesn't get her first. Like you're saying though I'm wondering if it would be just as much if not cheaper for me to swap in a 4L80E. Assuming the claims are true I'm not looking forward to the 8 or 8.5 mpg from a heavy crew cab dually with a 454 and 4.10 gears on stock size tires without an OD. Honestly I feel like the GV route would be easier since I shouldn't have to move the transmission cross member back and drill the frame for new bolt holes, but at the same time I'd get the mileage benefit of a lockup converter on top of overdrive if I went the 4L80 route.
The $3000 price tag alone is why I've actually taken time every now and again to look for a used GV unit with the proper TH400 adapter and all the other stuff that goes with it.
Got a similiar problem on my 89 OBS. Can somebody tell me the name of this plastic tube or bowl at the steering column where the cable is connected to? Or maybe the GM partsnumber (89 c1500). Cant find it on Rockauto. I would really appreciate some tips! Thanks in advance.
I will ad some information and impressions on it in an upcoming video. getting it running again. There is a video showing how it left me hanging shirtless in a parking lot off the Las Vegas strip.
@@BurnoutsAndRotorblades awesome, thanks for clarifying. I had to put a Lokar shifter in due to header clearance a couple of years ago and mines been off since, going to correct that thanks to your help!

Wonderful tutorial!
Thank you very much for the detailed instructions!
Glad it was helpful!
Excellent Thank you! Confident I can now replace mine. Much appreciated.
Lifesaver, thanks
Great video!
Nice video. I'm wondering if my return spring is broken, since my indicator is stuck all the way to the right, on "1".
My new one does that. I'm thinking I need to smooth it over with some sandpaper because it gets stuck.
Thank you for the video :)
Love the video, but is there also a video to install a needle pin indicator on a Ford Crestline 1953?
Thanks!!

They just print a different pattern on the same piece. That's why it's important to order the correct one for your transmission.

Is that a Gear Vendors? Please make a video of how you like it! lol

It just clips onto the side of the collar...? I really thought there was more to it than that.
thank you
You're welcome
Nice video
Thank you!
Where you buy this from
where’d you purchase it
LMC truck I believe.
Would this work on a 1986 GMC Sierra 1500?
I do not know. Sorry, I have very little experience with vehicles that "new."
@@BurnoutsAndRotorblades thanks man I just got her and I don’t know how to fix the car shift indicator
Worked on my ‘84 so it should work for the ‘86.
Adjust it by sliding WHAT up?
The metal clip that attaches the cable to the steering column can be slid to align the shift indicator needle with the gear the transmission is in.

Part number?
Depends on your setup. Overdrive and non-overdrive are the only two options.
Where can you buy one
