  • Thanks to Blackview for sending me the Tab 16 Pro to review. I take a look at what you get in the box, have a play with the Android 14-based Doke OS 4.0, and put it through some benchmarking.

Brilliant reciew, have you reviewed the honor 9 tablet yet??

Thanks, and nope I've not played with the Honor Pad 9 yet. It does look an interesting alternative though - more expensive, larger screen, no included pen, but it would be good to know how the performance compares.

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech totally, I'm looking into getting a new tablet. I have had a Amazon fire for years but would like something android orientated after have Google phone for the last 5 years. Samsung is way too expensive for me so have been looking at the alternatives

You buy cheap, you buy twice.
This thing won't get updates for very long and will age quickly.
They couldn't even tell the truth on the spec sheet when it came to the RAM.
Just spend the extra and get something decent.

Their web site does say 8GB ram plus additional virtual so that’s a marketing thing more than anything I think. Difficult to comment on longevity of updates but some of their older tablets have been updated from Android 12-14. I’ll report back in a year!

I have a Black view Tab 11, from 2022. It has only updated to Android 11, but it has performed well and without problems for 2 years. I've been perfectly happy with it.
      I would buy Blackview again.

@@SpeakToTheGeekTech any device can have "an amount plus virtual memory". People read the specs because they want to know the performance. By that logic we could call this a tablet with 32gb of RAM and just change a setting in the Android build to create more virtual memory.
It's like saying my car can do 0-60 in 5 seconds.... But only when it's been pushed off a cliff... And the rest of the time it's 12 seconds.
I don't think we should reward something which is very clearly meant to deceive.

I have a childrens' Blackview tablet, it's never received android updates and won't download programs on BBC iPlayer (which is specifically what we got it for annoyingly).
UI was almost unusable until turned off some ui animation setting.

I have a blackview tablet, I had 4 blackview phones.
In general I'm happy with the products, that's why I come back. Software is reliable and hardware is good.
I only had a problem with USB-C charging port, as it didn't transfer data and later evolved into problems to charge (fidgety cable).
I fixed it for 50 euros at a phone store, the guy said that the original piece was cheap, thin wires, etc.
But other than that I can't say anything bad on the brand, been buying it since ~2016

I certainly think it has an edge in the 11" size class

07:23 shows 8.0GB + 6.00GB RAM, so this actually looks like 8.0 GB physical and 6.0 GB of some kind of virtual RAM (14 GB total), not even 16 GB with an 8/8 split. Weird thay can't be honest aobut the RAM.

Yes, but I think that second value is dynamic depending on the demands you put on it.

Mine seems absolutely fine. Fully updated tablet, I use an Eero 6 Pro mesh too, not seeing any dropouts. Delay in replying was so I could give it a good test over several hours of use to be certain.

Mine seems ok so far, had one update for certain. I guess we'll have to see how well it holds up long term so I'll report back in a year.
