My local Euro bike dealer has a new left over 2016 marked down 3k from MSRP. Really nice bike I think.

I owned one, i tour around Europe a lot. Sadly this bike is not good to live with long term. My engine had to come out of the bike 3 times to be rebuilt. the slave cam gear is on a shim not a bearing and it wears out every 5 to 6 k. Its super deep in the engine the cog that drives the cams. the clocks are busy and the fuel gauge is next to useless doing lots of mile on the first two notches then the next to go at 20 miles each completely random. There was a recall for dangerous brakes so make sure thats been done. Good points the auto suspension was good but that lovely rear shock does start to rust really quickly around its pivot. Berware the service cost when it comes to the big one. The valves are a bitch to get to and you will be parting with an extreme sum of money. something about the pulse of the engine make the rear tyre wear out super fast i was getting half the millage that i should out of mine. We were in 35+ heat and i have never ridden a bike that burnt my inner leg so much the engine cylinders are long and tuck in right under your inner legs. the heat it gives out is incredible so its not good in traffic in hotter countries. You can watch the trip we were on where the bike engine finally let go on my utube page. Aprila european breakdown that comes with the bike is not worth the paper it is written on. We were stuck for four days waiting then they sent a van to small to fit the bike into in Italy. Overall I sadly would say keep clear its a beautiful bike but no matter what a good bargain you can find on one it will cost you more in the long run.... Honestly do your research about the engine slave cam drive. If you have to pay to get that done it will be 4 figures to drop the engine out the bike....

The cam issue is a known defect to aprilia.

Uh, no. I have owned the Caponord Travel 1200. Same engine. Zero problems. I have put 36000 miles on my bike and have not had a single problem. I had the valves done at recommended interval and again, no big out of the ordinary costs. The heat the writer mentions is from the catlytic converter, and yes, it can get on on very very hot days. But there are other bikes that get hot in that kind of weather too. The idea that the cam shaft gear wears out every 5 - 6000 kilometers is rubbish! No one on any of the Aprilia forums has reported this problem or the brake issue or the rear shock rusting out early. This reads like a disgruntled owner who had a bad experience and wants to punish the manufacturer. Aprilias are probably the most reliable Italian brand and my bike has been Amazing! I’ve done track days with it, unmaintained rough roads, dirt roads, 2000 miles in a week and never had a problem. Loads of usable power, great handling and great suspension. Get the Caponord. You won’t be disappointed.

The audacity to charge that much money for an adventure motorcycle and not even put a center stand as standard!
That's just plain ridiculous... no wonder I only heard of this bike a few days ago when I watched a MotoGeo video.
Yes, I've been riding for more than a year and following motorcycle news in general for more than 2 years and I just now heard of Caponord.
That's right, motorcycle journalists literally don't give a fuck about this bike. And I can understand why - it's a rip off.

This bike is a minger (ugly)? Has anyone even glanced at a GS?

I'm with you man, it costs a lot, or that ssegment of bikes costs a lot, but bikers being what they are and buying based on looks more than car drivers im surprised I don't see this bike being more popular abroad, I mean out of the "adventure" type bike I think is by far the better looking
