Introduction to genetics. This is an animated resource part 4 of 6.
This open educational resource is part of a suite of free teaching materials to raise awareness of sickle cell disease. Sickle cell is a haemoglobin disorder, and these resources help you understand the genetics behind the condition. We hope that students studying medicine and biomedical science will find them useful - and do recommend them to your teachers!
This set of 6 animations goes over some basic terminology to help you learn modern-day genetics. This one describes the karyogram and ideogram.
This sickle cell disease project (SCOOTER) was funded by the UK Open Education Programme supporting the sharing of educational materials and expertise in sickle cell disease and other blood disorders. We are proud to be part of the global open education community and passionately believe that learning should be accessible and open to anyone who wishes to participate.
