Doesn't matter how many times I see this scene or edits, I feel such a profound sadness. That Dean had died was truly a kick in the guts - Jensen's performance without question....magnificent!

Breaks my heart.😢💔 I loved this show so much. Watched for 15 years and invested so deeply in Sam and Dean. I was devastated Dean died but I am so glad he is finally at peace and free of all his pain. I am glad Sam and Dean are together forever. No other end would have worked for me. Thanks Supernatural so sad and hard to imagine it is really over.😢
Now that I think about it, each time that the brothers have died (not counting Mystery Spot), they were never alone. Their brother was with them, each time. (And now I'm crying for the third day in a row over Sam and Dean. 😭)

@@huchlvr I might be wrong, but I don't think Dean had actually died in that episode? He was mere moments away from doing so if the doctor didn't save him, though, but, yes, if he had died, that would have been the one time Sam wasn't with him when he passed.

Dean's passing was Jensen's best acting. Every time I saw it and I went through 3 re runs it was the same. I balled like a baby. I felt and empty spot just like Sam did. Even though he had a normal life raising his own family when he climbed into Baby in the garage and grabbed the wheel I felt Dean just like he did. It was fascinating how Sam had Baby, but up there Dean had Baby and took her for a spin. She sure gets around! I still keep wondering what Sam and Dean will do now they're together in eternity. Drink beer and never get drunk? Visit the folks and Bobby? Go fishing? Have endless drives? I don't think they have ghost pepper jerky in Heaven for Dean. That was a funny episode when he ate some of that and Sam thought it amusing too.
Him sitting in the deans room. I honestly thought when the camera paned to those guns I really thought sam was gonna pick one up and just end it but thank God he didn't because I'm happy he got a normal life with Eileen.

He tried being happy with Lisa and Ben like you mentioned but he didnt like it. He lived his life with Lisa, paranoid looking over his shoulder like John. He wasn't truly free and felt like his life had no purpose without Sam. Dean was fine with dying because he was tired and wanted to die doing what he loved. He also defeated God and ended the apocalypse, there was nothing left for him to accomplish. He died in peace and saw all of his loved ones who passed on the other side. Sam was always written stronger than Dean, he didnt even look for him in purgatory. He can live without Dean but Dean cant live without Sam. The prophecy is one brother dying abd that brother had to be Dean.
