- Freddy Foxx also known as Bumpy Knuckles sat down with VladTV to talk about his reasoning for leaving MCA, how his relationship was with Shakim and Queen Latifah was after leaving Flavor Unit, and opens up about his ultimate disdain for music executive Steve Stoute.
Like so many artists, leaving on amicable terms is very rare, and in Bumpy's case, he tells us that issues with his A&R and the MCA shelving his record were the initial cause of his departure. "I was eager to get to work. I wanted to do promo. I wanted to do all kinds of stuff." He said, "Everything happened from them stealing marketing budgets and pocketing the money to stupid s***."
In 1993, Bumpy teamed up with Treach to jump on "Hot Potato" on NaughtByNature's 19 Naughty III album and from there he says Shakim heard it and wanted to give him a deal with Flavor Unit, which was under Epic. Unfortunately, the rapper says that he wanted to maintain a Boom Bap sound still and teamed up with Diggin' in the Crates to master that sound, which didn't sit well with members of Flavor Unit who wanted another sound for the album. In turn, Bumpy says he has to reproduce the album resulting in two projects which were later shelved after issues between the Unit and Epic records. Unhappy with the outcome and the lack of communication, he says he departed from the clique with resentment. Since then, Bumpy says he's made amends with Shakim and seen Queen Latifah at the VH1 Hip Hop Honors recently, and he's gotten over the drama.
As the conversation continued, he opens up about releasing his diss record "Industry Shake Down" and explains why he slammed Red Alert, Slyvia Rhone, and who he calls a "slimy a** dude." Check out the interview to know why.
ONE OF THE MOST UNDERRATED MC'S OF ALL TIME! I EMPHASIZE THE WORD UNDERRATED!
He's not underrated. He's just underrated to you...
andrey germanov facts 💯
Ronnie Royal
Nah, he’s definitely underrated. He doesn’t get the hype that he deserves
@@SlimLighty Nah brotha, my comment is 3 years old and believe me that at that time this is the only interview I saw that featured him. He didn't get mentioned with all the greats regardless of him being a dope lyricist, honest emcee, and a top-notch artist. Now it's even a lot more visual in 2020. You might not agree with me but it's clearly obvious.
his verse on the Militia is top 5
spoonly And his verse on M.O.P - I love
True
My walk is so tight
My drama so ill
Beef wit me hangs around like an unpaid bill
@@YouAwakeYet Word
Oh yes it is Top 5 verses of all time period!
industry shake down one of the hardest albums. got it when it came out. peace to a legend.
Me to
Freddy Foxx is a straight up legend, he's one of those artist that got fucked up with these labels.
denmark555 Freddie Foxx vs chino xl?
his tracks that was on smackdown vs raw 2006 still lit
right ✊✊✊
Just had to check out that track..
1. Didn't even know he had a song in a game
2. Impressed that Bumpy was considered to lay down a track
Lol go listen to bumpy knuckles baby
@@GeraldGruenigMedia1 ☝️
@@YouAwakeYet He was on a lot of the joints from SVR 2006 in the wake of being on John Cena's album. He had Bang Bang and You Don't Want War as solos. Crush Kill Destroy was Blaq Poet with him on the hook. That "I Ain't Going Nowhere" joint features him and is one of his productions as it was revamped for a Public Enemy joint he was on too. "Get it in"
Freddie Foxxx is in my top 10 best mc's of all time PERIOD. Bumpy make it hot
he beat a lot of rappers asses...the industry would not touch him
😂🤣
Bumpy is hip hop's Luke Cage!?!
Great comparaison!!
The title track was ahead of it's time. That basically told us about how all these label owners be acting greedy. Stealing Money from the artists and basically exploiting them. Birdman and P.Diddy are good examples of that.
Ronald Bluiett Suge Knight also but at least Suge helped his artists and didn't leave them hanging unlike P.Diddy. P. Diddy left Shyne to dry and that was fucked up.
he also left craig mack in the dust
Baltimore Guwop he's pure evil imo
The LR Project At least Suge wasnt soft like Diddy was. Suge went out like a G. They should make a movie about him soon.
Mack Vell
Who got the hardest MC style ever created?
Bumpy Knuckles baby! Bumpy Knuckles baby!
Who got celebrity status and it's still underrated?
Bumpy Knuckles baby! Bumpy Knuckles baby!
Classic!!!!!!
u young kats should hate foxx the opposite of skinny jeans rapper
Back in the day, I was signed to an Indie label that embezzled money from right underneath my crew's nose. The fine-print from the music industry can take your name, whatever little money you DO get and KILL your LOVE of music. My music life was told thru the bars of Freddie Foxxx on Industry Shakedown. I Love making beats, but the business of music can suck it.
slept on legend
freddie foxx is truly one of the most underrated m.c.'s in hiphop period!
This guy articulated himself really well in this interview.
Favourite Freddie The Foxxx Verse is Most Definitely his Verse on M.O.P.s "I Luv" joint Produced By The One & Only DJ Premier, Peace

Bumpy Knucles is one of the greats. Industry Shakedown is a classic
Freddie Fox would beat the shit out of your favorite rapper!!!

Word, him and Cormega both... Glad their little tiff ended a while ago.
I still bump Crazy like a Foxxx, legendary cat.

One of the hardest rappers ever.
"While your nose is dripping and drained in blood
I'll be standing over you screaming nigga what what what what"
I cant think of Freddie Foxx and not think of his verse on The militia... one of the hardest verses in hip hop ever
“Don’t mean I was right or wrong, it means I was honest with my feelings”
For all the hiphop heads that fuxk with Bumpy!!! DJ PREMIER has his own youtube channel with a show where real emcees get a beat to freestyle on, a bit like Sway. Anyways, Bumpy has a episode aswell and its sick go chexk it out!!!
post a link...
Good lookin; i did not know that
Not a problem at all homie. If you ever feel like needing some new underground hiphop just hit me up on this comment and i gladly send you some artists that you might not have heard of from the underground scene, blessings bro
thank you homie
Nice interview with music rapper Freddie Foxxx. Record companies did Freddie dirty by not releasing his albums. I know why Freddie dissed record companies on Industry Shakedown song. Record companies are always not releasing music rappers albums. That's why music rappers stopped making albums like The Cru, Keith Murray, Smoothe Da Hustler, Trigger Tha Gambler, Foxy Brown, Lady Luck, Rah Digga, Heather B, Jeru The Damaja, Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz, Lady Of Rage, Artifacts, Das EFX, O.G.C., Smif and Wessun, Heltah Skeltah, Jamal of ILLegal, Boss.
The end of this clip was as real as it gets. Big up to Red for his honesty and big up to Bump for accepting it.
Every time I had a chance to listen to Foxx I listened. He was too real. Record labels couldn’t contain his force of nature.
When Freddie handed in his album at Flavor Unit Latifah was like "pffft, you local"
Classic line from "Juice"....Great Hip Hop Trivia
Industry shakedown is such a legendary album.
Some of these comments are just annoying!
I was lucky enough to see and meet Guru in 2004 in the UK for one the livest but smallest gigs ever. I've not yet seen or met this legend, but I respect him and his entire ethos to the fuckin fullest - he's still the realest dude, keeping in true hip hop 1000% and I will always bump his shit, especially Crazy Like A Fox (1994). Wish I'd been old enough to see him and Tupac performing together in the early 90s :(
And to this day, this dude's never stuck his private letters from Tupac in the public sphere - unlike these fuckers stickin' their private letters from pac on Ebay. Pathetic.
7:30 - 7:37 Holy Shit that was too real.
Freddie a real dude. Talented Mc.
Freddie Foxxx - So Tough 1994💯
one of my favorite tracks from Bumpy Knuck's "Industry Shakedown"
BUMPY KNUCKLES BABY, BUMPY KNUCKLES BABY!!!!
I respect the fact that Bumpy had the guts to diss the WHOLE F*#@ INDUSTRY , many rappers today are like "what if they don't like it ??" Or " is it goin' to he heard??" , basicaly Bumpy is a real MC , he knows how to get wrecked on the mic , today's new up comming rappers should listen every word he said , cause' he stook to his principles and didn't left nobody hold him back , ya'll should stick the shit You used to heard when you picked the love for HIP HOP and give tour own flavor without ruinning the culture and making it a circus with all these clowns
Him and Cena's album in 2005. Very Underrated.
Freddie foxx on o.c mug that verse is legendary
Love this man's music!!!
& his track with john cena still lit

That sudden ending without the usual outro caught me off-guard. Grateful for small mercies.
Legendary..I still have that Industry Shakedown album
Bumpy Knuckles Baby!!!!
This interview is great!!Freddie Foxx is the Don!!
I've heard both versions of Crazy like a Foxxx... and both are the shit. It was nuts that they shelved that for over a decade. Pretty much any song that I see him featured on, i listen to it.

"Who got the hardest MC style ever created?"
Bumpy Knuckles baby!
I have big respect for this guy! He got hard-core raw bars thrown for real exposing the dirty strategy practiced by some kinda labek! He is dope! He is Freddie Foxxx dude!
Wow, so that really does happen- stealing budgets and whatnot. Mya said the same thing. Young aspiring artists need this kind of knowledge so that they don't get their hopes up. This ain't no lil' McDonald's check (not knocking fast food because I eat it sometimes), this is hundreds of thousands to potential millions of dollars. I couldn't fathom seeing somebody play around with that kinda money. And then you go to ask questions and get told some dumb ass lies. On the other hand, if you're on their label then they call the shots. If they want such and such record and you can't deliver, well you gon have to bounce. A tricky business. I don't know how some of y'all maintain.....
Industry Shakedown is the hardest album ever
Freddie Fox is still one of the best to ever do it
Great interview!
Great interview....
Realist OG in the game!

I fucks with Bumpy Knuckles, but money never brings up the incident of NORE and his crew pressing him about that rhyme when he dissed NORE on Industry Shakedown
CocheseSha is it true Nore got smacked in that incident?
Shouts to Naughty

Are his appearances on John Cena's album a blemish for him or a credit for Cena?
Cena's favorite rapper and Bumpy produced a lot of his album
