    James Gurney shows how he sculpted a bobble head dog. There are basically two types of bobble head designs:
    1) Head on a loose, bouncy spring, which works for upright human characters.
    2) Head on a counterweight, which works best for animals.
    With type 2, the trick is to make the head light enough to balance against the lead weight, so I used craft foam for the head. You also have to sculpt the hollow body with enough space for the counterweight to swing freely up and down and side to side.

    sir your painting videos are amazing and that goes without saying. but is it possible if one day you make videos about your more 3d stuff like these or those giant pencils and brushes? or more of how you made the titles/edits on your videos. i love your outros alot, as an avid youtube watcher i rarely see people incorporate physical shapes into these kinda things. i did watch the logo animation video but i would love to see the other contraptions you made for the ending. or even a studio tour! that kinda stuff is quite trendy nowadays! i would love to see your studio myself. cheers

    Wonderful! Instead of lead, may I suggest less toxic alternatives? For the body, one can put aqua gravel or glass beads (used for making weighted blankets) in a small bag or a clean nylon "knee high" stocking that can be tied off with an overhand knot. To weight the head, metal nuts or a heavy glass bead could be used. My youngest has lead poisoning. Please, please don't use lead!

    Loved this. I made an air dry clay cat bobble head with my grandson over zoom. But love the technique with wire for the head action. Thanks for sharing your technique

      @Julie8000 2 года назад +1

      @@capuchinosofia4771 I used balled tin foil to form the body. It was a more upright body. The neck went up to a point. Then the head was made from a ball and pinch pot idea to hollow it out. The head goes over the pointed body and to bobbles on the base. Painted with acrylic paint.

      @@laneatkinson6441 we had weekly art club for almost a year. We both did projects together. We painted, did a lot of air dry clay from large dinosaurs, spaced capsules, rock painting. It helped so much with being apart and we got closer than ever. My husband even played zoom chess with him with camera over board and second phone to see each other.

    That dog looks like a 3d painting!
    I use impressionist techniques when I build my model kits as well. I think it looks better than adding a whole lot of details as modelers usually do. Because their small size kind of works like as if we were seeing in the distance, the most smaller it gets, the most distant it is. Impressionism works specially very well for small stuff like 1/700 ships and things like that. It is very nice to build dioramas in such scale, adding vegetation and such, it really feels like building a painting.

    I want to give you feedback on the "Traids - painting with 3 colors" course that you created. It's the first time ever, that color mixing has meant something to me. It's dynamic and accessible in a way that I could never have imagined. I actually use the traids, that I've mixed, for reference when I paint. Amazing! Thank you so much for a brilliant course on color.
