    I’m about to graduate school and I am overwhelmed about starting my at home business. They don’t teach you anything other than the basics to be able to receive the license. The insurance, the business license. It’s all so much to take in . This was so helpful thank you!

    Thanks so much for this. I have had my nail license for over 15yrs. I have not done nails in over 13yrs, other than myself and family and friends. But I am sticking my neck out there and converted my garage to my salon. Still have a few more items needed before I start, but I am excited and nervous at the same time. This was very informative for me. Thank you for your selflessness with such valuable information

    I’m gonna do a beginner nail tech room tour this week. It’s not a good situation at the moment. It’ll take a good amount of time to get there. I figure a lot of others have to be in a similar situation and we’re so use to only seeing these amazing spaces all put together. Should be interesting. A little embarrassing but it’s real.

    Good video❤️i’ve heard some reasoning why some nail techs don’t work over others work.most common reason i hear is for not knowing if mma was previously used, if the clients nails were originally done on damaged natural nails, nail diseases etc which may lead to lawsuit. All are good reasons I believe but there’s a way around it. soak off once, inspect their natural nails of course get your product on their nails do a great job and gain that new client. what are your thoughts?

    • @TheNailTeach
      @TheNailTeach  3 года назад +7

      Well in my opinion this is apart of the consultation and prep process... to access the clients nails and determine what is best. Not EVERY situation calls for a soak off. A tech can easily fill in over MMA products and it will eventually grow out. The whole purpose is for the natural nail to grow with little to no lifting so if the prep is done correctly, and the enchantments are taken good care of then it wouldn't be an issue. Thank you for your comment!! 😊💅🏾

I recently developed a beauty business planner and workbook that might appeal to you- it will help you out in preparing yourself to go into business for yourself and get organized. • @TheNailTeach
      @TheNailTeach  3 года назад +1

      Starting home based is just as simple as continuing what you are already doing and just growing. I would recommended advertising by word of mouth and social media to start. Make sure you have all your services, pricing, and equipments/supplies in order. I would suggest at least starting school before actually beginning to offer services, but use this time to plan and map out your business. Start to develop your social media platform(s) by gaining followers and begin teasing and showing them what's to come. Never wait to start- you just have to jump sometimes!

      Hey.. thank so much for your comment! Yes, you would need to look into the process of obtaining a FL license. Each state has different requirements so you may or may not have to complete another exam or school hours in order to receive it. I believe NY is one of the states that ask for the most hours... but don't quote me on that! Check out the state licensing website to see what FL requires as far as school hours and state board exams. Hope that helps! 😉

    • @TheNailTeach
      @TheNailTeach  2 года назад +1

      Hey! When it comes to having an inspection done and all the requirements that go with it, you have to see what your exact state requires. Also, the location could play a part (renting in a space vs. making a space vs. a location in the home, etc). The same goes for state boards- I have a few videos about preparing for the practical exams. Hope this helps!

    • @TheNailTeach
      @TheNailTeach  Год назад +2

      If you live in a warmer state where pedicures are needed all year then that would be fine. If not, I would start with just manicures or just manicures and pedicures. You want people to come to you for everything. If you only do feet and they need to go elsewhere for nails (which is usually more important for people) they might just choose to do their feet wherever they get their nails done. Hope this helps ☺️

      If you're just doing friends and family to practice then you really don't need a license. But you will need a nail technology license in order to work and officially take clients. If you take clients (being paid for services) without a license you can get fined and more depending on yours state rules and regulations.

    Hello I’ve been struggling to figure this out. I want to start a business at home. But the state board say I need to license my space as a salon. But I also wanted to do lashes and they say I have to have seperate rooms and pay for esthetic and nail license for the business. I am licensed for both just not the salon part. Is it possible to do nails any other way without having to license as a salon business?

    • @TheNailTeach
      @TheNailTeach  Месяц назад +1

      I'm not sure which state you're in as you know things vary state to state but you can run your business doing both in home. Yes, you would need to have a business license (that would cover you for both) and have a separate area/space (like one side of the room for nails and the other for lashing), for cross contamination reasons. You would also need to have business insurance that would cover you for nails AND skin incidents.
      If you didn't want to do all that I would suggest just working at a salon where you can work both hassle free! Hope this helps.

    • @Kierracraftsndesigns

      @@TheNailTeach I’m located in Pennsylvania. I spoke with the state board of cosmetology about lashing and they said no I wouldn’t need the -salon license - doing a business from home with lash extensions. I’m not trying to do a nail salon either but just nails every once in a while because I enjoy doing nail art. So I was hoping to put nails and lashing as an art business (as a lash artist and nail artist) hobby and not a salon and was wondering if it’s possible to run as a business not a salon. I totally get the required implements and separation of the services one in each room. But they told me I need a salon license to do nails and it has to be a seperate room which I don’t have and doesn’t make sense to do if it’s not full time and in the future do not plan on becoming bigger or having employees and it would be one client a day by appointment only. I currently work full time for a hospital so this would probably be a late night business and I would only get to do one or two ppl per week and more on weekends but I try to keep my weekends free.
