I'm someone that isn't a fan of this movie. Like, not at all. But I genuinely really like this edit that you've made for it. This kind of music is what I've come to recognize as a familiar choice for you when it comes to pairing a song with Eva visuals, so it made me smile to see that you've chosen it for this movie too. I think it complements the early village scenes much more than it does the later scenes of the movie, but then again, those are the scenes of the movie that I found myself relatively liking. I think that the feeling of nostalgia, mixed with the feeling of knowing when it's time to move on from old memories once and for all, is evoked perfectly by this song, both musically and lyrically, especially the latter, because there's that repeated line of "I got some things to say, I will never say 'em to your face" which makes me think of the struggle to communicate throughout NGE, a struggle that the characters overcome in this movie to some extent (my feelings on its execution aside.) There are precise cuts abound throughout this, and the way you hold for relatively longer on certain shots feels consistently purposeful and makes me smile, especially at 0:48. 2:36 and onward is nothing short of bliss, every choice of shot and cut blending in harmony, and I especially appreciate how you represented the rapid drum lines at 2:39, 2:43, and 2:47, because I think those bits accentuate the emotion that builds to a peak with this last part of the song. It definitely made me feel nice, which is unfortunately more than I can say for the movie. I’m glad that you and others were able to get a satisfying experience out of this movie, and I’m glad that you decided to make this edit. This was a great watch, and I hope you’ll keep creating stuff whenever you can find the time. It can be a frustrating experience, but for my money, it can really help to clear your mind and heart. this means a lot to me man, its funny but it took me multiple rewatches to safely say that I liked the movie, at first I kept saying that it was between an 8 and a 2, so much shit that I liked and hated, Ive never been so devided by a movie in my entire life. But, I feel like I needed to do this edit, to do a final send off to eva. it doesn't mean that I'll never do another eva edit again, but I feel like I was able to express how I feel and tell the message that I wanted to tell. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the edit man, it means a lot
I found this edit to be cathartic and quite poignant, it gave me the exact kind of feeling that watching the final movie gave me. So I can only say that you absolutely nailed it when it comes to portraying this movie as a form of closure to the entire eva franchise through the edit itself. Which is absolute insanity, it can be hell to try to encapsulate a feeling or an idea into a single song, into a single video. I think you did an incredible job on the perfect choice for the song, and I genuinely believe that this has to be one of your best; the way in which the edit is cut feels so good and so organic, it was truly a pleasure to watch it. And I like how you also maintained the structure of the movie in a way. It starts in a calm manner, then it jumps to the action, then it jumps into abstraction and then little by little all of the pieces start coming together until it all explodes and ends with absolute peace. You made one hell of a job that you should absolutely be proud of, I loved this movie and this is the video that explains what I felt while watching it; and doing something that I can relate to such a degree is no easy task. Way to go madlad! Keep the videos coming!
